Well
dune season has officially begun for
some. Duners headed out to shake the
dust off their sand toys for Kickoff
Weekend at Dumont. It was windy most
of the weekend which made for some
very steep razors. The dunes were
pretty much without tracks all
weekend and were very hard to
navigate through. Some duners rolled
their toys and found their selves in
some tough predicaments, but there
were no reports of any serious
injuries. The crowd was small with
only about 3 vendors showing up.
Kickoff weekend is always a great
time to go out and make sure the
toys are in tip-top shape for the
season. Some duners are ready
and some will be busy getting things
ready for the months of duning ahead
of us.
Thousands
of duners made
it out this year
to Dumont for
Halloween
weekend 2009.
Many guessed
that there were
more people than
last year.
Vendor row was
packed as usual
with tons of
vendors and
shoppers. The
dunes were full
of tracks and
slightly choppy
in some areas,
but made for
some fast great
lines. The BLM
rangers
responded to
some calls, but
overall it was a
weekend without
any major
incidents.
Halloween night
was full of
trick-or-treaters
visiting camps
decorated with
orange lights,
goblins,
pumpkins, and
more.
It was another successful event this year
at the 2nd annual Dumont Dunes Poker
Run presented by Friends of Dumont
Dunes and DDR. On Saturday November
14th, hundreds of duners came out to
the dunes to play a little poker and
get some duning in at the same time.
Some
estimated there were more than
Halloween weekend, but regardless
Thanksgiving still brought in
thousands of duners to Dumont. Many
showed up as early as Monday and
made a week-long trip out of it. The
weather was super nice, yet the
dunes were hammered and choppy. The
helicopter landed a couple times
throughout the weekend to pickup
some injured duners. Much thanks to
the BLM for their rescues and help
during those mishaps.
The
old waterpumpers drew a crowd at
comp as they held their annual hill
climb event. There were also the
drag races along the back stretch
just like every year at Dumont
Thanksgiving. Comp hill was chaos as
usual, but fun for many.

pictures to come soon. Until then,

New
Years 2010, Dumont Dunes
New
Years weekend at Dumont turned out
to be fairly tame this year. Number
were down compared to past years,
however the dunes still managed to
get a good pounding making for some
pretty rough rides. The lack of wind
recently has quite a bit to do with
it and everyone hopes those dunes
smooth out over the next couple
weeks for MLK weekend. Weekend
temperatures dipped pretty low at
night like they always do around
this time of year. Many of our
supporting vendors still made it out
to be there for the duners and made
everyone's weekend.
Four
Stroke Association's race #4, Rumble
in The Desert, took place on Banshee
Hill Saturday Jan 16th. Racers and
spectators lined Banshee Hill for
the races. For pictures and race

Jan 30th:
2nd Annual 70cc Regatta at Dumont-
a great success and too much fun!
This year's 2nd
Annual 70 ATC regatta was a great
success. The turnout was over double
last year's with over 50 ATC 70's
showing up. Special thanks to all
our sponsors for making this event
possible.
Thousands of duners
made it out to Dumont for
President's weekend 2010. It was
some great weather all weekend for
some fun in the sand. No matter
where you went, there was something
going on out at Dumont this weekend.
The Las Vegas Jeep Club held their
hill climbs and races on & near the
face hill. Banshees and street bike
powered quads lit up Banshee Hill
with some friendly grudge racing.
Comp hill was comp as usual with
many sand cars and bikes racing up
and down all day with a large crowd
at the bottom. Vendor Row was lined
with many vendors including the
regulars plus some new ones from all
over the place. The dunes were
hammered pretty bad from the recent
rain, but it didn't stop duners from
having fun.
Easter weekend report 2010
There
were
no
large
crowds
and
it
was
almost
like
an
off-weekend
as
usual
this
Easter
weekend,
2010.
The
wind
came
and
went
all
weekend
making
it
very
unpredictable
for
when
it
was
a
good
time
to
go
take
advantage
of
the
smooth
dunes
groomed
my
mother
nature.
No
major
injuries
were
reported.
A
sandrail
rolled
coming
down
comp,
but
everyone
was
ok.
Easter
weekend
usually
marks
the
end
of
the
season
for
some,
but
if
the
weather
permits
there
will
still
be a
few
more
weekends
to
go
duning
at
Dumont
before
it
gets
hot.
A
slight breeze,
temperatures in
the mid 70's,
and nice smooth
dunes were the
conditions on
Saturday March
27th. There
weren't too many
people out at
Dumont and it
was a nice off
weekend as
usual. These are
the times when
one can truly
appreciate this
place. It's
almost like a
completely
different place
compared to a
weekend such as
Halloween or
Thanksgiving.
