Gmc Fault code P2563

I have a 2008 GMC 3500 diesel and on the way home from Glamis the check engine light came on. Took it to the dealer today for a smog check and to see what the fault code was. It passed smog. The dealer said it was fault code P2563 and it was turbo related. He asked if I was towing went the light came on.

Yes I was towing a 38 foot 5th wheel with 2 900 xps in it up White Water grade out of Palm Springs running about 50mph. The dealer reset the fault and said the turbo was ok. My question is should I trust the dealer or should I have a tow truck on stand by for my next trip?

They have an updated turbo for your truck. This is common on trucks that tow heavy and often. The code means the actual and desired vane position was not aligned for a short period of time (Hence the vanes are stuck). Its due to build up on the unison ring that moves the vanes. There is also a GM service bulletin on this.
