BOV placement, pre or post intercooler

I'm putting an intercooler on my honda 3.5, was reading on placement of the BOV and there seems to be pros and cons as to where to place it. Hot side to blow off highest pressures and temps (as to not heat soak the intercooler) cold side to keep air flow moving in the same direction and to blow off highest density of air as well as blowing cooler air through the BOV to make the diaphragm last longer..... I am looking for some input to see what others are using and what works for them..... Thanks in advance.

Sure do miss Bert, one phone call and would have got what I needed!

I understand the reasons for both ways, but I agree with Newly. It seems getting the pressure off the turbo the quickest is the best way. If you want to argue about the diaphragm lasting longer, I would say that the diaphragm is cheaper and easier to replace/service than a turbo is.

Valid points to both comments. I talked with a guy at hondoctor today and his recommendation was to place it on the cold side so the airflow is continuous in one direction and will evacuate faster minimizing what he referred to as a "vein hammer". He said because I am running minimal boost then it shouldn't be a problem with heat soaking. If I intend on running 16 lbs or higher then place one pre and post intercooler.

That works. I do believe the farther away the BOV the more of a chance the compressor wheel can be stressed out or have a chance to slow down or stop. Especially when on the other side of the IC. No matter where you put the BOV its going to help and it will stop the comp wheel from barking and that's its main purpose. Cant wait to see it!
