Christmas weekend report

We headed out Tuesday night though Sunday for our traditional Christmas trip. :xmascheers::xmas_grin:

Had to test out the sand paddles on my Ace 570 and really see how it would do in the sand after the break in period and test how well I would be able to keep up on the dune runs.

We did some upgrades to the Ace, added the Pro Armor 5 point harness, Tribal Whip lighted flag, Tusk trunk bag from a RZR 800 (fit perfectly), 50 Caliber Bead Lock wheels, 25 in 7 paddle Scat Tracks in the rear and Doonz in the front. We also added 2 inch wheel spacers to widen it to just about 60 inches.

She screamed through the sand! I was a bit concerned about how much fun the Ace would be over my Raptor 700. It has just gotten a bit too difficult to ride my Raptor with a knee injury. But the fun factor on the Ace was awesome! I was able keep up through the dunes with the 1K's and not be left behind wondering where everyone went. I even launched it off a transition all four wheels off the ground, landed it and it just kept going. Mike even got a "wee~wheelie" out of it!

Before we put the wheel spacers in, it was a pretty rough ride, going over whoops and steep transitions from dune to flat ground, but it was much better after the spacers. Suspension would have to be my only complaint.

I put 268 miles on this trip alone and Mike put 300 miles on his 1K! And together he and I went through 55 gallons of fuel!! So it was quite the four days of ride ride ride ride... :driver::driver: especially considering the wind blew Weds and Thurs! We did end up finally just saying :censored: it and went out in the :cold:

Ran into another guy with an Ace 320 at the North Pole, that was pretty cool meeting up and seeing another Ace in the dunes!

I would have to say this was the best trip of this season! We had great company and campfire talk! And not hurting after rides is pretty awesome!

Some of the pics from the weekend...

On our way home right now after our worst trip to Dumont. A bad trip to Dumont is still way better than work.

First problem is my sons cr125 broke the first 20 minites we were there. It has no top end power and had a acrid smoke coming from tailpipe after turning off.

Then the wind blew like crazy Mon-Thurs making riding not so good.

Saturday, my other sons yz250 stopped running at little dune. I think there's a hole in the piston because there's zero compression.

Fortunately my dad brought his extra quad so we all still had something to ride.

AWESOME weekend! I rolled in Saturday morning, with a transmissionless sandcar and quickly got to work. (Lou B brought it out to Dumont because Krusty rebuilt it). As I got set up to get started working everyone went on a run. By the time they got back I was adding fluid and ready to dune! :headbang1::driver:

I can't thank Krusty enough. The install went smooth and his rebuild was awesome. The car ran strong all weekend long and didn't give me one single problem. We got a ton of duning in and the weather was great.

Here's a timelapse of my trans install.

All done!

Yeah Sunday was fun. We got a few runs in and went and hit a jump behind Talladega. I stayed until dark and made the most out of the weekend.

Some more pics.

About mid run the bracket on my rollbar clamp for the GoPro came loose! I almost lost it. I was really lucky that we stopped when we did. Phew.

These are the couple pics that it grabbed while upside down though. (I flipped them)

Then we headed over to that jump and hit that for a little while and grabbed some pics.

Vegas style grabbed these 2 awesome shots of me with his camera.

Dang Pete that Gopro takes awesome pictures! Are you tweaking them in photoshop or something? Very nice! I'll guess I'll post mine here. I went out the weekend after New Years, I probably should have went the weekend before because it was dead. I was alone waiting for the crowd at comp hill Saturday night until 8pm then one camp came out and politely hijacked my campfire. I was totally fine with that at least someone showed up.

Pics and vids. I'm sooo sorry about the music Pete, I'm old! I know how much you love 80s heavy metal.. :) ha ha.

Great job on that video, Eric. I thoroughly enjoyed it on mute. lol ;)

As for my GoPro pics, I tweaked a few just little but most of them are right out of the camera. It takes amazing shots even in low light. Then if you get the right lighting, they really pop. Those are usually the ones I add a little of my personal touch to and they turn out to be some of my favorites.

Well whatever you are doing they look great. I thought you were using a DSLR as first. :) I'm going to go listen to more WASP!
