  1. Treasure Trunk or Treat - Oct 28th 2017

Are you ready for Saturday nights Treasure Trunk or Treat??? Are you going to have what it takes to walk away with one of these commemorative plaques??? Come out and join us Saturday night and make this event one for the record books! I want to see the entire rock pile surrounded, several rows deep, with all of YOUR rides lit up and hopefully dressed to impress! Remember with The Friends of Dumont Dunes it's all about building the community with safety and education! Help us to make this event a success by participating so we can continue to host additional events all season long! Don't forget to bring plenty of candy to pass out to all of the kids who will be trick or treating during this event! When: Oct 28, Saturday, 6-8PM Where: At the "rock pile" (between the visitor center and restroom 4) More info:

  3. Dune Report / Film Production

Today I made a day trip out to the sandbox to take some pictures for a few Friends of Dumont Dunes projects I am working on in preparation of the upcoming season. It was a cool 95 degrees with a nice breeze but if you weren't moving it got HOT in the sun! My buddy and I had the dunes all to ourselves and it was the softest, fluffy sand I've ever experienced out at Dumont! Imagine driving on cotton candy but sliding on oil. It was a challenge in some spots to say the least but we still had a great, safe time! Even though we had the dunes all to ourselves the rest of the place was crawling with the largest film production crew Dumont Dunes has ever seen! With extremely tight security, significant area closures and an increased BLM presence the majority of the flats normally filled with group camps, sand toys and firepits has been transformed during filming into another planet for the upcoming movie Ad Astra staring Brad Pitt. This futuristic film takes place in the setting of the planet Neptune. Filmmaker James Gray will be taking the helm in what he's promised will be the “most realistic depiction of space travel that’s been put in a movie.” Coming down the main road the fee station area was completely packed with all of their equipment and the Visitors Center area was utilized for an additional security checkpoint and the medic staging area. Looking to the North was the active "set" that unfortunately we couldn't get close to due to security, noise and dust restrictions. The majority of today was the "rover travelling" scenes. They have been filming for a couple weeks now and will be continuing for at least another week. Enjoy the attached photos and I look forward to seeing everyone next month for Halloween! Jason
  4. Halloween Weekend 2017 Dumont Dunes

You can count on me being there!
  5. Clean up 2017

I absolutely appreciate your comments! I personally own a few wood burning smokers that I use for the good stuff all the time. Unfortunately this time around with the support I currently have this will be a decent hot dog party. I am hopeful that by this time next year we will have more Friends, support and donations to have a killer BBQ! I have some plans in the works!
  6. Clean up 2017

I am in the process of bringing the FoDD back to life! The FoDD will be providing a BBQ lunch to all who register for the clean up along with presenting awards in four different categories for those who collect the most trash and whatnot! Last but not least those who sign up to become a FoDD will receive a ticket to participate in the Quick Draw following the meeting containing nice prizes donated by Rugged Radios, Kartek Off Road, Impact Signs, fellow Friends of Dumont Dunes and more! This will definitely be the clean up that brings the fun back! I look forward to seeing all of you next weekend!
  7. 4th Annual Buggy Roundup

    Count me in!
  8. 2002 Lance 1161 camper

It's FOR SALE!!! Now that I've upgraded to a large 5th wheel it's time to let go of my Lance 1161 camper. It is fully loaded with an original build order of $34k and it is still the most desirable and largest Lance camper (excluding the current $54k dual slide model) ever built! The interior is in prestigious condition and on top of all the factory options it is also the all weather package. Also included is a built in satellite TV system and a top of the line off-grid solar system. I am going to list it at $16,900 and if you want the ultimate off road camper combination I may even consider selling the truck as a package deal. If you have a friend that may be interested I will have a commission in it for you!
