  1. There's already a good crowd forming out here. On vendor row we have: Desert Bling California Casuals Roadrunner Powersports Reyna's Carnival Eats Jericho an ice guy Another food vendor And a couple more. The dunes are already tracked up and those that are here are out enjoying it!!! BLM has already been out working on the road.
  2. Sounds like a great weekend was had! You are welcome for the Veterans day ride. It was a group effort and brain child of a few different people.
  3. We actually did this on Saturday. We'll be doing it again next year!
  4. Thanks for sharing! It was definitely toasty out there this weekend. Glad you got back out there! Nice X3! You'll love it, definitely a different ride then your bike!
  5. You absolutely did! We had headed over there to do some trash cleanup. Thank you! I'm glad they got it all fixed up. We usually have a replacement part or two in camp thankfully. 6. Pretty good weekend in the sand this weekend. Arrived early Thursday morning. Relaxed while we waited for a couple more to arrive. It was toasty out there this weekend! Went on a good cruise. Still learning the dune shifts since I didn't ride on Halloween weekend. While we were waiting for the shadows to be right for a good ride, I decided to grab a trash bag and a couple of us headed out to do a little clean up. BLM had been out there to do a clean up day and did a really good job. I still managed to collect a black garbage bag full. We then met everyone at our version of sunset hill, to reflect on a great day in the dunes. Friday brought a good fast morning ride. Then it was back to camp for some homework time. I'll be super glad when I don't have to spend visiting down dune time doing homework. I needed a homework break, so we headed out to vendor row for lunch and I needed an American flag for Saturdays Veterans cruise. After eating, it was sunset run time. Everything was great until I made a bad decision to cut the line and avoid a transition. Knowing where we were, it should have been an easy smooth cut, except there was now a huge shelfy witches eye there now. And I stuffed the X3 right into it. Not just tacoing the A-arm, but also in a precarious deep ditch situation, pretty much a V shape. While the guys were trying to figure out how to get it out, I sat on the hill feeling pretty stupid. A group of people sitting a dune over had just passed us and decided to turn around and help out. Thankfully one had a winch! I can't thank them enough for turning around and helping us out! Once we got it out, We limped it back to camp. One of the guys in camp had an extra A-arm and let me borrow it for the rest of the weekend. Thank you! It was pizza night in camp, one of the gals in camp makes the best homemade pizza! Delicious! So the guys talked about revisiting the idea of fixing it in the morning. Thank you again for pizza night. We're going to have to start switching dinner nights and Saturday morning breakfasts to join in the duties. Up early the next morning and when I opened the kitchen shade, one of our camp already had it jacked up and checking in out. They all dove right in and got to work. They finished it up just in time to roll over to the Veterans cruise. The cruise had a great turn out! After the cruise, it was back to camp to complete my homework, it was a midterm assignment so needed extra time to complete. Another sunset run, this one without any mishaps. We kind of did a cook your dinner and bring it to share night. Not a planned potluck. I was pretty sore this morning though from that hit on Friday evening, so I relaxed in the motorhome and tried not to move my neck too much. I see a message in my near future. Good weekend, with lots to be grateful and thankful for.
  7. Thank you to everyone who showed up Saturday! The turn out was amazing! We had over 40 cars, sxs's, quads, dirt bikes and jeeps who came out to honor our Veterans. At times I was so overwhelmed with gratitude that I was teared up. VID_38670603_174006_115.mp4
  8. As secretary of Friends of Dumont Dunes, I propose a little mini clean up competition! Many of us do this anyway: 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚, 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙣𝙙/𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙪𝙥! 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙/𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚: And on The Friends of Dumont Dunes Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/friendsofdumontdunes/?ref=share Use the hashtag #packitinpackitout or #packoutmorethanyoupackin in your post. I will keep track of these posts and the person/group who has the most mini clean up posts by the Annual Clean Up event in March, will receive a special prize and recognition for their dune clean up efforts! I don't know what the prize will be yet, but I'll come up with something great! Let's be the change that we want to see in others! Let's set the example for all to see!
  9. Sounds like a great weekend! That sand looked super buttery! Thank you for moving the memorial! The dunes were definitely more sketchy than the usual summer dunes when we were there mid October. Thank you for sharing your trip.
  10. I didn't have anything to post really for Halloween. I literally drove my ride to the Trunk or Treat event and back to camp. Didn't even make it to comp. I'll have trip reports and updates from Veterans Day weekend though!
  11. On Saturday, November 13, 2021 Veterans Day weekend there is going to be a slow cruise ride from Vendors Row to Veterans Hill where we will have a small ceremony to honor those who served our country. Meet @9:45 AM west end of Vendor Row, we will leave for the cruise, kids encouraged as well, @10:00 AM. The cruise will be led by Sean Stewart You are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and fly those American flags 🇺🇸 Once we arrive at Veterans Hill, we will have a brief moment of silence to honor our Veterans. Followed by some patriotic music and conversations. I have ordered a bunch of small flags to hand out to the kiddos. I just felt we needed to do something at Dumont to honor our Veterans.
  12. Hell to the yeah! Summer is FINALLY FREAKING OVER!!!! Out at the big beautiful sandbox for the first weekend of the season. Things have changed quite a bit out here! As usual from season to season. But this year feels like our regular lines really shifted more than most seasons. Of course there's the regular shelves, witch's eyes and drop offs that come with summer dune conditions. There's also some good smooth lines too. We're laying down fresh tracks and there's some light traffic tracks from the light crowd that is out here this weekend. The road coming in of course is a SOLID F rating. As more people start coming on off weekends again the debate will probably arise again, that if we have to start paying during September the BLM should at least grade thar road once a month and not just on holidays! It's a beautiful start to the season so far!! If you're out and you see us, stop and say HEY!! 😁 Jodi Sandchick Secretary Friends of Dumont Dunes
  13. Pete you definitely missed a great one. The turn out was incredible. I'm still speechless at the turn out. We're already making big plans for next year. As the newly elected secretary of FoDD, I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the organization.
