I have changed the bulbs in both my toyhauler and my moho, and I have used the M4 retrofit ones:
I used the 3500K which is much warmer and I love them. Way way brighter than the incandescent units.

I’ve never heard someone say they didn’t go to Dumont because of the road. I don’t think paving will bring any meaningful negatives. It’s not like Dumont is close to a highly populated area where people will just flock to Dumont because the road is paved. Way too many positives for our vehicles and trailers longevity and reliability. I’m excited about it!
Im with you on this, I dont really any more of a change in clientele than we have already experienced with holidays like Halloween.. 🤷♂️

@Agricon we watched you pull the car down the face on 3 wheels and it looked like he was a little sandy by the bottom!! lol 😆

This is not going to be good for people looking for a new unit later this year... Prices are already $$$$

I had this same quandary about 2 years ago, I decided to go the side x side route as we often do some other riding from time to time that is not in the sand. I thoroughly enjoy the ability to just throw on some sand tires and go to the dunes or dirt tires and go out through the dirt. That being said it has not impacted the unmet need to drive a newer Funco...

How did they work?
I think you guys pulled up to the swing set as we were getting all the kids into the cars. Meant to come say hi and introduce myself but well... Kids.

Interesting that this came up. Out there the weekend before Christmas and there was a fairly small group with a large portion of the finger coned off. Now this was a pretty dead weekend but it still stuck out as a very odd thing to do in my mind.
Being new to Dumont I wasn't sure if that was a fairly normal sight or a one off.
I may or may not have knocked down a few of said cones on the top of said dune...

I think the issue arises because with the new level of "OMG panicpanicpanic" from Fearless Leader Gruesome and his retarded minions, it is unclear if anything has changed as far as Dumont is concerned. The CA Covid site is as useless as a screen door on a submarine, and the BLM Dumont page is very generic. Additionally, even the pinned post on the news page (which I would not have navigated to until I read Dunefreak's post) says that Dumont *can and may* be closed for non-compliance, and references the El Mirage closure earlier this year.
We're planning a trip the week before Christmas, and I'd hate to drive five hours only to get the Griswold's Wally World welcome.
I don't know what the easy answer is as far as a pinned post, etc., but I know my bookmarks go directly to the forums and my visit to the "news" tab was probably the first time I've clicked on that tab in the thirteen years I've been a member of this site.
I would say Dumont is going to be closed the week before Christmas, but that is because we are going to be there the same time and we enjoy the small crowd lol.... Totally messing around thank you Pete for keeping us up to date.

I used to ride a YZ125 way back out there lol I would richen up your mixture a little bit but like Pete mentioned Sperry Wash is cool. You can also just ride around the outside of the dunes, there are some really run roads/trail out around the north pole and the north size of the dunes around the fence line.

I would take the 210 east to the 15 North. Then take the 15 all the way to Baker where you can take HWY 127 between the Mad Greek and the Mexican restaurant.

Tell your pops to order a car while there
Tried, but I guess we need to get into the crane business before we have that kind of $$ 😉

I am 100% for the off weekends... Can never get a good fast ride in on the crowded ones, since you feel like someone is always going to come over the dunes into your line. Im also not that much of a fan of having to check traffic from right to left as Im leaving camp like Im merging onto the freeway.

Just thought I would share a quick walk around the new 2 seat can am build by funco for my pops. Came out really really nice

Took a day trip to get in a quick sand fix. Came out Friday 9/27 leaving early to get some breakfast in Baker before heading out for some sand therapy. Got to the entrance road around 9 and let me tell you the summer has not been kind to that road at all. After all the change and everything that was in the cup holders rattled out all over everywhere, we made it in and started unloading. The temp was awesome at 9 and started getting warmer. It wasn't until the 2pm mark where things started getting pretty warm. There was a ton of growth all through the dunes, around on the flats and anywhere water could settle enough to grown plants. Those summer dunes were soft in places and there were ledges, drop offs, and witch eyes everywhere!!! Just about impossible to get a real flow and find any good lines. But being in the sand was worth all of it!!
