  1. Same bro! It's so strange to meet someone in person who ya already feel ya know so well via YT & social media. You were taller in person 😆 Great fireside chats!! 2am crew woo woo! I still can't believe I didn't ask for a ride in one of the many many amazing cars in the camp. DOH!!! Next time. Hope to chill and ride with y'all in March. Thanks again Pete for putting on this great events/updates/community.
  2. On December 6th we made the trek and only had a 45 minute wait. This is because we were some of the first vehicles in line, the escort vehicle left about 9 minutes before, doh! Same thing on the way back to Hwy 15 on Saturday. It's not that bad, the scenery is amazing and it's good time to stretch the legs and have some last minute roadside fun before heading back to reality. Very thankful the construction workers were able to rally fast to get the road reopened to residents and visitors alike. I've heard rumors about a few locals up in Tecopa who had to get on the County supers case to plead to have the road reopening rushed, and even though SB is a huge county, the reps stated they didn't even know Tecopa existed. I think they know about it now! Oh yes, and the flagger said he believes the progress is helping them to predict the road will be complete sometime in March. 🙏
  3. Dumont dunes is a riding spot I've been going to for years for my dirt biking in the dunes fix. Over the years, I migrated from going with a dual sport/street legal group and riding 100-200 miles on street & dirt to Death Valley/Furnace Creek area to Titus Canyon/Ryolite in Nevada, to camping and exploring solo. BAD IDEA I know, but damn I saw so many amazing places and loved it...all with zero cell range 😦 to going with a larger group of folks who just ride the sand. We just did an amazing trip last Wednesday -Saturday after a 2 year hiatus that almost never happened due to Hwy 127 (you have to take this hwy north from Baker off the 15 to get to Dumont, or you end up having to go on a 3 hour detour around the closure) being washed out back in late August. LUCKILY...the news got out in time that the hwy would open up with delays/pilot vehicle escorts on Dec 4....two days before we were set to arrive! It's ON!! The wait was a solid 45 minutes, but it was ok. It's crazy how bad the damage was, the work that is being done is very extensive/expensive. After finally getting to the dunes, we had an absolute blast riding, exploring new areas, enjoying awesome sunsets, great camping food and meeting new friends over at Pete Greeps camp. They even sold us some wood since the guy who was supposed to bring most of the groups wood got sick last minute. Thanks Pete and Ana, y'all rule!! Also, a little known fact amongst dune riders/campers at Dumont is there is a small....like REALLY small town called Tecopa nearby, only 20 minutes up the road, that features hot springs that you can pay to go in, or a free hot pond, and plenty of RV camping/hookups. But this time I wanted to show the group the new restaurant that popped up called "The Kit Fox Cafe", which just happens to be next door to "Death Valley Brewing Co". Indeed these are both total GEMS!! In the middle of nowhere, serving up some of the best brews I've had a minute, plus really great selections of food from wood fired pizzas to vegan options. Highly recommend if you are in that area. It was so great we went back the next day also! The dunes can be a dangerous place, especially for dirt bikes...we are the lowest on the food chain out there ☠️ ....but we rode cautiously (mostly) and only had a few tip overs, get offs, and no one stuffed it into any witches eyes (those spots between dunes and can really mess up your day/machine/body! We got many miles in and many more smiles, it really is a dream to be brapping around huge flowy dunes with no tracks, it's like an untracked powder day at your favorite ski resort ❤️ Basically we can't wait to go back!! Hope you enjoy the videos and pics!
  4. Man, what an awesome time out in Dumont last week! Highlights were the great weather, rad people, fun sand, low crowds (until Friday PM 😆) late night bonfire chats and of course finally freaking meeting the MAN hisself!! So stoked to finally shake this dudes hand, I've been following/subscribing to his shenanigans for days but way further right here on DDR. Anyway, thank you Pete (and Ana) for putting on this event, it was my first time checking it out. We had a camp over by #7, and cruised over a few nights to hang. Good times all around! We are just on bikes and one SXS so didn't go on the group rides, but dammit that sh*t is sooo fun to witness in the big bowls, 40+ cars snaking thru the dunes and screaming those engines loud. We just park out bikes on a watch point and chill to watch the show. Thanks buggy drivers, y'all are a blast to watch 👍 I'll post my own report and stop hijacking this thread haha 😂 Daniel
  5. Ahhh yeahhh, Can't wait to go back! But for now it's the twisty rocky trails of Big Bear and a nice Kennedy Meadows trip coming up in July
  6. Howdy! These videos are from last November when we last had the crew out to DD. I'm testing out my buddies new to him 2020 Honda CRF450L, following Mike on his 2000-something CR250. When follow-filming, I try to get right up in there, breathing that sweet 2 stroke aroma while keeping the frame tight, of course GoPro makes it still look a mile away even though I was probably 2-3 off his rear tire. As always, can't wait to get back in the sand next season, but until then we always have the Big Bear/San Berdo Mountains to play at!
  7. It's a good thing, dust and washboard roads are avoidable. I doubt the quality of the road keeps people away. The advertising of the new road should peak interest in duners tho. We'll see what the change brings....
  8. Ain’t that the truth!! Alternated between the helmet set up and headset/phones, Really helps because dammit my car is so loud! 🙉😹 Thank you, I am really liking it, glad I’ve got the belt sensor or I’m sure I would’ve toasted one out there just going crazy and having fun like I usually do on my 4 stroke. Even caught a little bit of air and definitely made some of my riders scared 😱🤟 Will be coming back hopefully in a month or so with paddle tires! Will be coming back hopefully in a month or so with paddle tires!
  9. Man did I miss Dumont! It’s been a year since the last trip, and this one was one for the record books! Very warm, highs in the mid 80s and never got cool enough in the evenings to have to put on long pants. Bonus! No wind! I had a solid 12 person group and ate like kings, partied too late but didn’t let that stop us from getting up at 7:30 every morning. I’ve been a lifelong dirtbike rider and have only experienced the dens on two wheels…..until NOW….picked up a ‘19 XRC 2 months ago & this was its first time in the dunes. Decided not to commit to paddles yet, wanted to see how it did in four-wheel-drive with tensors. Needless to say I would love to go to paddles but the car performed very well and I managed not to do anything too stupid but definitely had a few pucker moments, I think my buddies had to go change the shorts lol We had five dirt bikes including a recently fixed up CR 500 that I got to ride a few times and had a blast! The dunes weren’t too busy, finally made it by a vendor row to check out all the goodies and picked up a few new flags. Seemed like a lack of sand cars and buggies there from what I remember in previous years. Really cool to see the teeter totter over at veterans hill, but that Buoy that cemented in the middle of the flats could probably use more reflectors as it isn’t necessarily in a predictable spot like the north and south poles. We always camp at the little dunes because we like to go into death Valley or go over to explore some of the funky old cabins to the west. Warning there’s a nasty rutted out super soft spot and people were getting stuck but usually not for long. Scored some free wood but of course left plenty of free wood afterwards when we left yesterday. Can’t wait to go back! Here’s some pictures
  10. Glad you had a buddy with an extra part! I believe we saw you and another fellow dinner doing some cleanup’s over by South Pole Saturday. I remember seeing that awesome X.3 with the windshield and purple accents. Thanks for doing the cleanups. I used to do the same thing for hours at a time using a dirtbike, those flat areas sure collect the trash!
  11. Love it! Darn it we were there on the 11th and didn’t realize this was happening until later. Thank you so much for organizing it 🙌
  12. Hey there! We won’t be there for Halloween, but got a trip planned for mid November. I’ll be bringing a new to me SXS (Canned Yam XRC) to the Dunes for the first time. Coming off of a life on two wheels, it’s going to feel a little weird. Debating running paddles or not. If you’ve never been to Dumont, it makes sense to have a dirt set up if you want to explore up Sperry wash, and the flat ground tents to be quite rocky which can eat up paddles. You’ll have a blast on Halloween, just keep your head on a swivel and watch out for those surprise drop off’s in witches 👁 👁
  13. 08 Silverado ltz 2500hd 18 Attitude 23sa (Pic from Tecopa HAS in Dec) I got to say it's a big improvement from a Cherokee pulling a cargo trailer! My wife is loving it of course, in fact she was the one who negotiated such a great deal! The th has plenty of room for a yxz or even at xp4...hmm...
  14. Hey all, it's been a long time since I've posted here! We did a nice trip last weekend with about 20 Riders, didn't do much Dune riding but did a 147 miles on Friday to the surrounding mine areas and Kingston wash. Thursday was super windy, but everything was smooth and Awesome by Friday! Testing out a new set up at the dunes, finally got myself a nice toy hauler and proper Chevy Silverado 2500 HD diesel to haul it! Loving it!
  15. Great motivation to get out there next Halloween, thanks for the awesome reports and pics! Dusty!
