  1. Dumont dunes is a riding spot I've been going to for years for my dirt biking in the dunes fix. Over the years, I migrated from going with a dual sport/street legal group and riding 100-200 miles on street & dirt to Death Valley/Furnace Creek area to Titus Canyon/Ryolite in Nevada, to camping and exploring solo. BAD IDEA I know, but damn I saw so many amazing places and loved it...all with zero cell range 😦 to going with a larger group of folks who just ride the sand. We just did an amazing trip last Wednesday -Saturday after a 2 year hiatus that almost never happened due to Hwy 127 (you have to take this hwy north from Baker off the 15 to get to Dumont, or you end up having to go on a 3 hour detour around the closure) being washed out back in late August. LUCKILY...the news got out in time that the hwy would open up with delays/pilot vehicle escorts on Dec 4....two days before we were set to arrive! It's ON!! The wait was a solid 45 minutes, but it was ok. It's crazy how bad the damage was, the work that is being done is very extensive/expensive. After finally getting to the dunes, we had an absolute blast riding, exploring new areas, enjoying awesome sunsets, great camping food and meeting new friends over at Pete Greeps camp. They even sold us some wood since the guy who was supposed to bring most of the groups wood got sick last minute. Thanks Pete and Ana, y'all rule!! Also, a little known fact amongst dune riders/campers at Dumont is there is a small....like REALLY small town called Tecopa nearby, only 20 minutes up the road, that features hot springs that you can pay to go in, or a free hot pond, and plenty of RV camping/hookups. But this time I wanted to show the group the new restaurant that popped up called "The Kit Fox Cafe", which just happens to be next door to "Death Valley Brewing Co". Indeed these are both total GEMS!! In the middle of nowhere, serving up some of the best brews I've had a minute, plus really great selections of food from wood fired pizzas to vegan options. Highly recommend if you are in that area. It was so great we went back the next day also! The dunes can be a dangerous place, especially for dirt bikes...we are the lowest on the food chain out there ☠️ ....but we rode cautiously (mostly) and only had a few tip overs, get offs, and no one stuffed it into any witches eyes (those spots between dunes and can really mess up your day/machine/body! We got many miles in and many more smiles, it really is a dream to be brapping around huge flowy dunes with no tracks, it's like an untracked powder day at your favorite ski resort ❤️ Basically we can't wait to go back!! Hope you enjoy the videos and pics!
  2. Lost dog.... our dog Bella got spooked last night and ran off in the direction of Sperry wash. We’ve been searching the canyon and surrounding hills but haven’t found her. If anyone sees her PLEASE call 7022106038 and ask for Mike. Cash reward if found. Thanks fellow duners!
  3. Here we are, about a month to go. It was a long, hot summer. The dunes never took a break, the "W" did it's job transforming the sand into new shapes, just for us! Oil has been changed, belts checked, fittings greased. Are you ready?
  4. Hey Everyone! Jeff Bruner finished his video for the 2018 Dumont Dunes Halloween. We hope you all had as much fun as we did out there. Enjoy! Dumont Dunes Halloween 2018
  5. Just getting around to posting report and pics from last month! It was a great trip with 8 guys and one gf. Drove out from Big Bear with light rain from Barstow, turning heavy after turning toward Baker. Heavy winds and more rain that fortunately lasted until midnight, then was quiet as a mouse! As you can guess, the conditions were amazing the rest of the trip! We did plenty of dune riding, a side trip to the infamous "Crusty Bunny Ranch" (southeast of Dumont), and a long 180 mile loop to Furnace Creek via Harry Wade road. Saw plenty of prudy wildflowers....we nailed it on the timing for this decades Super Bloom, by accident, sweet! Dantes View was also on the agenda. The rest of the crew did another side trip up Sperry Wash to gulp down a few Date Shakes at China Ranch date farm, so I got bored and decided what the hell I'm going to find out what is on top of that big mountain to the east of the Little Dunes!! Check out the pics for the killer views.... Planning another trip next week and probably one more mid month if the weather holds up. Enjoy! WET and FUN This sunsets for you Barrie Morris....RIP Miss ya Mate Anyone ever slept next to your ride when it's raining? I can cross that off the list! Clancy, Coors lite, CRF The gang, mid 30's to the mid 70's and we ain't talking temperature! Crusty Bunny Mine Inside the earth Terry checking out old headframe Wet desert traction for days Apparently, the Crusty Bunny Ranch has been closed for some time.... Near Ashford Mill in DV Super Bloom! About 150 miles into the 180 mile loop, east entrance to DV. Red Bikes galore! Sperry Wash was running FYI, the "Death Valley Internet Cafe" is in Tecopa, 20 minutes north of Dumont. They offer FREE WIFI, great food, beer and wine and a great atmosphere. Checkitout! You seen this mountain behind the Little Dunes? I decided to see what was on top. Started (hiking) from camp, went up the "road" that goes to first little peak, found a goat trail that climbed to next peak, and then worked north/left to Summit. Very nasty scramble down but totally worth the effort! Halfway up. Not much of a trail eh? Made it to the top! There was a large rock stack, some possible sleeping circles, sentry post, and of course a killer view! Can you see our ring of campers (middle, just before Hwy 127)? Note water flow and cool dune formations! Mandatory Summit Selfie! Rock and Sand contrast Love us some DD! See ya soon!

  11. My dog Bobby went missing Friday night, January 28th. He is a 2 year old chihuahua/dachshund mix, 12 lbs, light tan fur (short) and was wearing a tan colored LL Bean canvas coat. He is not known to run off for more than 10 minutes without coming back around to check up on me. Our camp seached for him that night on the flats and told every other camp about him. I called into work and spent an extra day and night out at Dumont along with my dad to keep seaching. We searched up into the mountains headed towards the China Date Ranch, the flats including approximately 5 miles out from the north pole. We covered as much land as we could and notified every camp about him...many twice or three times. I have posted a sign with phone numbers to contact on the message board heading out the main road and have notified BLM. This dog is like my son and part of the family. A $1000 reward will be given. WIth the amount of effort that went into the search and making sure all camps knew about him he may have been stolen. Bobby is in LA Times, Las Vegas Review Journal, PetAmberAlert.com, Craigslist.com and many other lost pet web sites. He is also posted on a sign on the main road to the dunes and on the message board leaving the dunes. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND MENTION THIS TO ALL YOUR DUNER FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Someone has him and hopefully wants to give him back or after seeing my efforts understands how much this dog means to me and gives him back. If you have any information please let me know. I want to get my boy home where he belongs. Thank you for reading! Any efforts made to spread the word are greatly appreciated. -Jared (702) 373-7925 JPeterson889@gmail.com

  13. For sale is a 2006 Suzuki ltz400 quad. This quad was bought new in 2007 and is in excellent condition. Extras include, newer rear dirt tires, and an extra set of sand paddles. Renthal handle bars, a UM per formance racing oil tank, an AC racing six pack rack grab bar and a quick release flag mount. This quad has always been garage kept, and adult ridden and is extreamly reliable. This quad is perfect in sand dunes, desert trails or mountians. Also has never been raced or abused. This quad has plenty of power to get up any hill, but is also a very forgiving quad to learn on. This quad has a clear title, and the only reason I am selling this quad is to purchase a dirt bike. I am asking $2800 o.b.o. If intersted call or text Chris at 1-702-682-2726.
