Christmas Weekend Report

As soon as the whole "family" thing was over on Christmas eve we hit the road and rolled into Dumont around 9pm. Camping area was pretty empty. Got settled and snuggled in in my dune blankie to watch my traditional Christmas Eve movie "Its a Wonderful Life"

The wind was blowing at a decent pace, blowing the dunes smooth..

Woke up Christmas morning with a beautiful sunrise..

Had our special Christmas breakfast. Got ready to ride, headed over to 80 grits to see if he wanted to do the early morning run. Not quite ready so we hit the sand.. the wind had blown it pretty darn smooth, but Mike picked up a good line and what better way to start out your Christmas then a nice 4th gear run! Hopping razors.. whipping corners and getting the adrenelene flowing?

Headed back to camp to wait for Vegas Style to roll in.. go to make my Merry Family Christmas phone calls, find out I only have enough battery to make em quick.. barely get them out and send off a couple of Merry Christmas texts. But when I pop over on the finger dune.. I got another Christmas present! Jill and Charlie had made it out!! :xmas8:

Spent the rest of the weekend playing in the sand.. working on my mad razor rolling skills :MBdance: and just enjoying the company of those people around me :booty:

Mike kept telling me I was riding slower then usual  I said WTF? No no no YOU are going faster then usual, cause I spent all my time in third and fourth.. mostly fourth.. gears!

Sand was wet underneath and by Sunday I was sore and every bump hurt.. I thought the dunes were getting pretty tore up and didn't even ride Sunday afternoon. I hope it smooths back out before next weekend. People really started rolling in on Sunday and there were quite a few camps already out there getting a jump start on the New Years weekend I am guessing or beating the crowds.

Here are some pics from the weekend...

Yea, it was a nice weekend for sure. When we first got there the dunes were a bit strange from being blown around in different directions. Lots of holes everywhere. By the time we left yesterday it was torn up. Hopefully there will be some wind before next weekend. Had a great time hanging out with Rob(80 Grit) and his group. Got some good runs in with them. Make sure to fill up those propane tanks if you are going out for new years. It was very chilly at night. I stll think Jodi was riding slower. LOL

Arrived Saturday morning with just the quads....sand was so smooth, a little damp in some places and really soft in the high areas. We could ride all around the dunes and never come across another person. Perfect conditions for some high speed dune runs :dayum: .

Stopped by Mike and Jodi's camp a few times and nobody was ever home, couldn't find them in the dunes either :MBdance: .

YFZ started to have some issues on the sunset ride, so time for camp fire and dinner :eat: . Can't think of many things better than sitting around the fire at the dunes and it being oh so quiet.

Sunday morning we had some fiddling to do on the bikes, got them ready to ride and headed out for the day. Jodi was over it, but we started to follow the rails with Mike till his buddy had a problem and we took off on our own. Had some issues with both bikes, but we made the best of it and kept riding. Sand was getting a little torn up, but not too bad...will be pretty bad by the weekend unless some major wind comes through.

Saw Jill and Charlie start to follow us on a ride, but we had to make it back to camp...sorry guys :( .

Tank, the new puppy, had no accidents in the trailer :xmas8: and this was his 2nd dune trip. He's going to make a great dune dog.

Lots of people were showing up throughout the day, going to be packed for New Years. By the time we left Sunday night most of the finger dunes had been taped off with metal stakes and caution tape :booty: and the entrance road was terrible.

Off weekends are the best :driver: .

Thanks everyone! :beercheers:

Yes off weekends rock! If it were up to me thats all I would do from here on out!

Mike pushed me all weekend.. I am still sore... :porn: even my throttle thumb muscle got sore. He can say I was slow all he wants to... I spent most of the weekend in fourth gear.. on the last run I did on Sunday morning, I was all over the place. In third gear I was way to slow and felt every bump.. but when I went into fourth, I couldn't hang onto it and was making stupid mistakes, I maybe the the resident retard and all :ninja: but I know when I become a danger to myself, it was time to be done.. I guess going sun up to sun down Friday and Sat just takes it out of a person :old:

I did have a couple of great compliments from a couple of different guys I chatted with this weekend though, they said they really enjoyed watching me out there.. they would see Mike in the rail and then look for me chasing him down, even they said I was hauling :old: and wanted to know if I had a school for their wives to take or if I would be interested in teaching them some things. :MBdance: That really made me feel good

Xmas weekend was a lot of fun. Was out there for 6 days and it was not very crowded at all. The nights were quite chilly but it was a really relaxing trip.

We got quite a few rides in with Mike and Jodi and that was a blast.

I did not take a single picture, guess I was in vacation mode. I did shoot some video footage of Mike xmas day playing in the rail over by Banshee hill.

Here it is. Best viewed with HD on and full screen.

There was a lot of people rolling in for New Years weekend when we left.
