dunefreak Posted February 14, 2011 Share Posted February 14, 2011 Well it was a VERY last minute trip...the best kind. After last weekend (70 regatta), I still couldn't turn my brain off and relax. I still have a stack of bins, banners, and stuff from the regatta stacked up in my garage to put away. The toys are still dirty. My den is a mess. I have a ton I still need to do like mail out shirts, get banners back to sponsors, get the writeup going for the website, etc etc. Eff all that. So I hit up Chadwick late Fri night and text him..."I'm thinking about going to Dumont tomorrow" Gotta love this guy. He responds back, "U serious?" then he adds "I'm loading up now" before I can even reply. So we rolled into D about noon on Saturday. The weather was amazing. 70 degrees, no wind other than the occasional breeze and sunny. GORGEOUS! To sum up the trip in a couple, few words: perfect dunes, plenty of time to relax with no crowds, kickass weather, great grub, good tunes, some laughs and amazing rides! Do you ever get that feeling on a dune ride when it's almost too much to take in? You take a deep breath and it's feels like it's the biggest breath you've ever taken? It's amazing. I usually get at least one of those every trip and this trip I had that feeling like 2 or 3 times. We were jamming through the dunes and felt like we had the place to ourselves. Epic! ~JILL~ Posted February 14, 2011 Share Posted February 14, 2011 Yes, it was a really nice weekend out there, even at the little dunes! Took the grandkids out for their camping with grampa & gramma. They just dug holes in the sand, played with the Tonka trucks and cruised the dunes in the ranger. Kids are so easy to entertain. All they need is CHARLIE! Charlie walked around the back of the trailer where we camped and finds a stinkin CRACK PIPE. At least it was him that found it and not the 4 & 6 year olds! Sure wish people would leave there CRAP someplace else! Looking forward to next weekend and probably the one after too have to see though. Chadwick Posted February 14, 2011 Share Posted February 14, 2011 It was a super nice weekend. Honestly the weather and sand conditions couldn't have been any better. Pete came close to writing on my face with a sharpie courtesy of Anna but I woke up. Those were some great runs minus the crowds which is always my favorite way to ride. The last run of the weekend we went all the way to the highest point of the dunes . I had never been up there before and it was kinda a challenge for me to get there. WOW the view from there is really incredible. It was so peaceful and quite and made me appreciate the beauty of the dunes. Sometimes I forget to stop and look at how cool the scenery is out there. The thought of me moving to Hawaii and not being able to to out to Dumont is starting to set in. If I go through with it I'm really gonna miss it! That guy vanishes from time to time and we never see him anymore! That car is sick. It sounded GOOD going by. We also saw NE14SAND out there too in the dunes but he looked like he was having too much fun to stop. Lol We saw he was parked over near wade by RR6. NE14SAND Posted February 15, 2011 Share Posted February 15, 2011 thought that was u sittin on that dune, sorry man. it was a perfect trip!!! perfect sand!!! even had a bunch of young ones in camp that we took to little D. did that run on our 70's where i managed to indo going up hill and got pinned by a darn 70! GREAT TIMES! sun morn there was darn near NO tracks for our last run, i hated to leave. took not 1 pic, trip was tooooo short. did roll the gopro every run execpt the 70 indo, wish i had it on. i need to start doing something with all this footage. I am sure there are a few pics out there just not going to see them. it's 2 wheel drive...2006 honda oddity....or one wheel is more like it.....i didn't anticipate the traction control messing with me so much. it would barely move in sand until i switched it off. then it would work PRETTY well, but still something kept taking away power..... i kept forgetting to switch it off every time i got back in....which resulted in the damage....but i DIDN"T get stuck once!....my goal was to get a picture looking down from top of comp hill, with van in foreground.....
