Use a CB Radio

Do any of you use one while out there? I know many may use personal radios in their sand cars, but was wondering about CB?

I figured it would be a good way to keep camps in contact? And ch. 9 for emergencies?

  • 2 weeks later...

I have cb's in the tow vehicles, and a portable (walkie talkie size); but no one I camp with has them, so not really.

Ch 9 is a dedicated emergency channel(nationwide) and ch.19 is a dedicated info channel...the truckers will usually help you out with traffic/ construction/ lane blockage/ bear reports ( :headbang1: ) , as long as you can "talk trucker" and not sound like a kid playin with dad's radio.

The radios come with a 70's stigma, but I've saved myself from more than one speeding ticket with them :driver:

BTW:  are you the same "aseman" I've heard on the radio near fontana

Andydew,

Yeah I use my radio a lot just to keep up with similar things like you mentioned. I also skip shoot often. I think you're talking about ACEMAN out in the E. LA area, not me. I'm in Eastvale often so you may hear me out there in Riverside; "747-The Samurai."

I'll probably be on a dune ridge shooting skip in my blk jeep this Thanksgiving weekend, in Dumont.

We're probably going to be in LA still, but have a good time.

Yah, I grew up here, in whats now called Eastvale, when the majority of my neighbors were still cows...lol.... Not as many flies back then until all these stinkin people moved in :) haha
