That span has been labeled "structually deficient" for 17 years. I would think fixing our own infrastructure would be a whole hell of a lot more important than fixing Iraqs.....IMO :beercheers::beercheers::drinkbeer:

It said on msnbc.com that the bridge got a poor rating on a safety inspection 2 years ago. Why was it still in use? Granted they said it was being worked on. I wonder if that is what led to its fatal destruction. :beercheers:

They also said questioned that bridge's design back in the SIXTIES because it's lack of supports.

It was a non-redundant design...meaning if one thing goes wrong the whole structure would come down. :beercheers: They do not use non-redundant design anymore. :beercheers: Also, last year was the first time in noted history that this country spent more $'s on retrofit and rebuild than on new construction. :drinkbeer:
