I dont know if any one posted on the Bronco that rolled over on that girl on Sunday night Prez weekend?

We heard about that as we were leaving on Prez Day Monday... both femurs = serious ouch. She's lucky to be alive, that's an easy recipe for a bleed-out.

:dope: on offering your Rhino. Last season at G, a buddy and I were night-cruising the little dunes along Gecko when we got flagged down by a group of quads. Seems their buddy had lawndarted pretty good, broken wrist chest trauma ALOC (altered level of consciousness) etc etc. We didn't have our phones with us (last time I've made that mistake) so we had to run back to camp to call it in.

Since the ranger station was closed, the only EMS available was an ambulance out of Brawley, 30 min ETA. Once they got there, they had no way to get into the dunes where the wreck was. They wanted to call in a helo (additional 2-hr ETA  ) but we convinced them to take a ride with us. We loaded one EMT in my friend's car and the other and a backboard in mine, and off we went.

They got the victim stabilized, then we strapped the poor bastard, on the backboard, across the back seats of my car (head out one side, feet out the other) and duned him back to the ambulance. I don't think I roosted him too bad... but I did have to stand on it pretty good to get out of the bowl. :eatdrink021:

Bottom line, the guy got transported within 90 minutes or so of doing his Superman with a half-gainer. If he had waited for the bird, he could have easily been out there for three hours plus. No telling what might have happened...

I hope the girl is OK she is friggen really tuff. Unbelieveable how she stayed really calm.

We were camped right below the accident. Two boys on quads came haulin a$$ into our camp and told us a Bronco had rolled and a girl was hurt really bad. So we followed the two boys to the Bronco and girl. She was about 15 feet from the Bronco laying on the ground. She broke both femurs and other injuries. I called 911 what a joke that was. They told me to have someone go to hi-way 127 and meet the ambulance. I tried telling the 911 operator that their was a Sheriff sub station out their, to connect them with me. I had the GPS cordinates. Or she could call them. We sent a friend to the sub station for help. The KEYSTONE Sheriffs showed up what a cluster %^$* that was. With the paramedics. The camera crew was there filming the injured girl. (Court TV). and the whole fiasco!!

I think every sheriff was there with no vehicle to transport her out. That old vw beam car with no way to haul her out. With the raise in the fees $40 per vehicle you would think they could afford a vehicle to get to and injured person out. Besides a quad so they can lookie loo. After they got her on the gourney they looked at our Rhino and said can we haul her out on that. We told them you can use it for what ever. At least a Glamis they have that Funco with a gourney spot on the passenger side. They carried her a good 1000 ft. up a hill and down the hill and put her in the back of a pickup truck in the bed. She was in some serious pain!! WTF. They drove her to the sub station in the back of that rough truck. She got air lifted from the sub station

The whole emergency escort was friggen stupid. I hope the Sheriffs department gets a hold of that video for some serious training.

Again I hope she is doing alright.

Dont blame the Sheriff deputys I was with them on several rescues and they do an excellant job of stabilizing the victims and getting them out of the dunes. The problam is they dont have the proper equipment and that is not the deputys fault. I know they are trying to get funding for more equipment. Those deputys have the job of both the police and the fire department and I think they do the best job they can with what they got.

Yup. Public land. Owned by the US Government (us), managed by the BLM. The payment is to cover the added services.

actually I think your misinformed. Its my understanding that there are NO new services, and the fees are to make up for lost funding last year.

The added services I was referring to was compared to just plain old BLM land, which is basically no services. The payment is to pay for the added services as opposed to none. Get it? :)

Sheesh...

no I dont, that was my point, dumont is basically no services, get it...kinda the point of several threads lately, were help was needed and no real help was available? The gist of most people is, treat it like you have no help, ride like you will get no help, because its likely not there. No equipment, unable to get to people, unable to repair existing blm sites (like mines)......

sheesh.....

LOL.....the only services they provide is the ability to collect fees....they still need help to get the dead people out, how the heck could they help the living?
