  1. Got in Tuesday afternoon after our 7 hour haul :yiah: . Only to be welcomed by some awesome dunes :atv: . Set up camp :stirthepot: waiting for the rest of our group to join. A little wind here and there but the weather was great. I love Dumont I like to brag to people about how great this place is because a lot of people we know go to Pismo. I can not say that this time. The dunes were trashed! When we drove in on Tuesday the bathrooms had trash piled up in the entry way. Then all the trash that blew with the wind, like people didn't know it could get windy. I am just sad! I know not everyone is perfect and accidents happen but like it is a secret that it gets windy out there. Did anyone see comp after sunday night? We were there until monday(lucky us) :whoop: We had some people camped next to us that left sunday and left trash all over the ground, a bag of trash(I wonder why they bothered with the bag), a solar pool cover?, and a broken e-z up frame!post-1062-091418400 1288690460_thumb.jpgpost-1062-064299000 1288690485_thumb.jpg Then next thing we know a person walked up there like they were looking for something. Someone in our group drove over there and pointed them to the trash they left but they blamed it on other people camped near by. Come on seriously? So we picked up the bag of trash and the frame and pool cover. I am affraid that Dumont is going to get shut down because every time we go it seems to worst than the time before. All total our group picked up 3 bags of trash a pool cover e-z up frame 8 cones and misc. trash in the area of our camp and cans when I cruised the Rhino. We had a great week duning and riding in the canyon. Please share with everyone especially the young crowd pack it in pack it out and take a little more if you can. If everyone picked up after just themselves that would be enough. I hope we can come down for the clean up this year. Thanks to all the friendly people, vendors and mother nature for a great week!!!

  2. We'll be there! :headbang1: Welding, repairs, parts, flags, Lighted Whips, Helmet flags and acc. We'll be out by Thursday! Any food vendors going? I don't like to cook!! LOL

My husband will be seeing you H Town for another lighted whip he has been waiting since Easter.
  3. It always amazes me about the trash issue. Our group lives far away and we LOVE coming to Dumont because of the cleaner dunes and good people. But we are seeing more and more trash. Why do people leave their trash in piles when they leave? Maybe they are unaware that nobody picks that up for them and there needs to be a large(billboard) sign that also indicates the fine amounts for leaving trash have glass etc. Maybe we should start taking pictures and license plates! :beercheers: We always "patrol" our area after we are all loaded to leave it really isn't that hard! We always take a more than ours. On another note I believe I have your ease up canvas or someones. Ha Ha Since we live in central Ca. I would also be willing to "drop off" some bags to rightful owners on our way if need be. I wished we lived closer to participate in more clean ups. Just wanted to chime in on this its just a pet peave of mine because we LOVE Dumont so much!!

  4. Looks like a lot duners are armed... Great..

Just think of where that round is traveling to if you come out firing... If it gets down to something like that! Hopefully NOT!

    A .22 cal bullet can travel 1 1/2 miles.

A .45 can blow a hole in the R.V. next to you the end size of a Coors Can.

9mm can travel farther than you think.

My duty weapon is a Glock .45 ACP with 13 round mags. My ammo is Winchester 230 grain hollow points "Black Talons" but not black. When I have fired my weapon(s) "Off Duty" I have always thought where is this bullet going and am I on target... If you miss and hit something else or someone near or far away.. YOU OWN IT!! Meaning that you will loose more than you think...

I would yell out to the idoit that you have a gun... That may make them run and keep you from taking another life... Oh .. And keep you out of prison.

I think everyone has the right to protect there property and there familys as thet see fit... Just dont think its the wild west..

    :dunno:

Everyone should take this advise..... as much as you may want to or someone may deserve, you can't always shoot.

Besides you should also keep your toys insured.

But Iam also glad to hear there are good people out there with protection.

  5. My observations:

    Dust/Smoke sucks

    The F450 ROCKS!

A Raptor 50 does not take a jet reemed out between 90/100 when piped

A Raptor 80 from Pahrump on a Saturday morning makes a 6 year old very happy :ban-split:

a$$hats that leave trash suck :pissed:

Rides to the North Pole with the kids is great stress relief

Air ride 5th wheel hitches are the shiat

I don't have to buy a new bike for my son...he now owns my YFZ450

Having the wife's Rhino done up was a winner :D

Meet and greet was huge :banghead:

It was nice seeing some new faces at the meet and greet. Sorry to hear about all the injuries. Sorry to hear about your rail Pete. Hopefully Bert will heal up soon. Here are some pics...I cannot wait, 2 weeks and we are back out there.

I just wanted to make a comment on the trash.

We saw this mess and many others. THOSE PEOPLE SUCK!!! I went to pick this up before we left early monday and I guess you guys had already been there. We ended up with one extra sack of trash from around us and one bag of recyclables. I can't believe people can't clean up after themselves. I guess those are the people who are suprised when there "play area" is petitioned to be closed! Other than excessive trash in the dunes we had a blast!!!!

  6. Glad I read this. I have everyone telling me it is going to be so much money that weekend and to get a year pass it will be really costly, I said no it isn't.

EVEN IF IT IS $40 THAT IS A VERY SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR THE AWESOME DUNES WE GET TO USE. BESIDES MOST PEOPLE SPEND MORE THAN THAT ON STUPID STUFF. I WOULD PAY EVEN DOUBLE THAT FOR 7 DAY OF PURE DUMONT HEAVEN!

  7. We can't wait either!! We thought it would be the weekend before but we wanted to make sure. Good thing too because I already took vacation for the weekend before Halloween.

  8. Since Halloween is on a wednesday this year which weekend is everyone going to be there?

Just trying to plan ahead since my friends and I can not wait and we want to plan now!

We just don't want to miss all the vendors and happenings!

    Thanks for any information :DDRrocks:

  9. “WOW!” Flags have been controversial throughout world history, but I never thought that not displaying a flag would bring about so much controversy.

I’m not posting this because I am offended or upset by what has been said. I have heard what everyone has had to say so now I would like a turn. And I honestly say this with a humble heart and without malice. I have a good sense of humor and working this long in law enforcement I have gotten use to being hated.

I am the NOVICE, poor excuse for an LEO that was riding the Yamaha. I liked those two. Oh wait, “turds” made me laugh too.

I have been visiting both Glamis and Dumont Dunes and riding MX since the 1970’s, I was born in the 1970’s. Although I have slacked off the MX because it got pretty $$$$$ I still compete in sport / expert level mountain biking.

Yes you’re right I was wrong for not having a flag on my motorcycle and you have a right to be upset. It’s not a matter of weather I believe I am above the law or that it doesn’t apply to me.

I personally have been stopped and issued a ticket for not having a flag on two separate occasions in the past both at Dumont and Glamis. I never I.D.’d myself as a law enforcement officer. I just took my ticket and paid my fine. On both occasions the LEO that stopped me was a complete JERK. This brings me to the reason why I chose to work this assignment. I feel that everyone is out there to have a good time, yes even us. What I’ve seen in the past was a couple LEO’s who had no background what so ever in offroading treating people, “such as myself” like criminals just because we like to make a lot of noise and a little dust. I am not talking about any one agency in particular it seemed like it was that way across the board. Glamis was really bad although the crowd was a lot worse there too and maybe the cops there need to be. Dumont is more family oriented and I try to be fair but firm when I need to be. I have had friends and family members who have been issued tickets also and I have to listen to them complain as well. Considering how dangerous this sport is if you make it through a holiday weekend at either Dumont or Glamis and the worst thing that happened was you received a ticket then I’d say you don’t have much to complain about. Just ask the 9 airlifted out or LuggNuttz who will never get to see his cousin again. I will say I personally have never been rude to anyone ever, who was not rude to me first.

The Sheriffs Department OHV team is currently comprised of Regular Deputies as well as Reserve Deputies who volunteer their time. I have been a part of the team for 2-3 yrs now and I can honestly say I have never written an actual citation for any violation I have seen out there. I have written A LOT of warning citations which does not require a court date or fine to be paid. I feel that’s all most people need and they will comply, although I know a lot of my partners feel differently which is why I’m out there, to try to balance them out.

I did not get paid for the 1 hr I was out there taking a break from the 9 airlifted and 1 fatality that we were dealing with not to mention all the stuff I over looked, “There’s a bunch of you who know who and what I’m talking about.” I left my uniform and radio on so that if something did occur I would be able to respond, all be it more quickly on my bike. Have you seen those quads we ride???

Back to the fatality, I hope the family is doing well considering their loss. All the, “So called paid professionals” were tied up on other injuries and the resources for medical aid was pretty well tapped. When my partner arrived on scene he began assisting with CPR. Now if we really took our power too seriously as you all think we would have all civilians back away from the scene. Instead we know there is a lot of off duty firemen, nurses, EMT’s, etc out there who jump in without hesitation to assist and we love those guys/girls for it. We REALLY APPRECIATE your help. I specialize in things such as gangs and narcotics not medical aid, so if you see me standing around with my hands in my pockets it’s because I’m just staying out of their way.

Now I thought that most would appreciate seeing the cops out there having a good time with them rather than impeding on your fun. But if you would rather have me out there working non stop enforcing the laws then the people have spoken and you have made it clear I work for you….Taxes….Most of us feel we are there to manage your fun not control it and to be there when you need us. If you feel that is unprofessional then your voice has been heard and I assure you, you will see a more professional organization in the future.

I know the guys we were racing were enjoying rocking us when their 450’s would smoke past my 250, “It’s all good.” I’ll have a 450 next time guys and yes it will have a flag and I wont by wearing an extra 30 lbs of equipment.

I must say this since everyone was so concerned about me being paid. If I am off duty at 2:00 a.m. (not getting paid), why is it O.K. for people to come knocking at the door of my personal trailer at 4:00-6:00 a.m.????? Should I get paid for that and if so, how much?

As several of you have said we are human and make mistakes. I was curious, how many of you obeyed the 55mph speed limit while pulling your 40’ trailers out there. See what I mean. I’m not going to apologize because I don’t think that’s what you are looking for here. But I will say you will not see that from me or anyone else on my team again. I will be out racing again without uniform look for that KX450 with a flag and I’ll meet you at the bottom of the hill for some good Old fashion racing.

I just want to say thanks! :mischevious: I also work in Law Enforcement. Some people forget all the aftermath that law enforcement has to see and deal with. Then they wonder why some people are strict. Firm and fair is always the best policy. Work hard play hard!! :mischevious: I have been to Dumont only a few times with my friends and perfer it anyday over Glamis. We have yet to have a bad experience with law enforcement or people. Maybe we have just been lucky. But all I have ever seen is you guys busting your hump helping out lots of people. Keep up the good work! I also have a flag for you!

  10. The Presidents weekend sand drags and hill climbs are they open to quads? I know the hill climbs were the Jepps and stuff but we didn't stay for the drags and I didn't know if they were open to quads. My husband is bugging me to come back down there so he can race.

    Thanks Tara

  11. Well I came here to read more about what happened to the 2 poor unfortunate people who lost their lives this last weekend. I can only hope that the families don't read some of these posts. Not that many of you don't have great points to discuss. I just don't think right now in this particular area is the best time or place for the debates or discussions into fault or stability. I will be sending a note to the family that I don't know and share my condolences not here among the debates. It is just was it is a very unfortunate accident. Live and learn, know your surroundings, life is a gift. Everybody is here because we love duning our views are different just accept that. Sorry I am doing what everyone else is doing(my.02) Just think before you bash others right at this moment just for having a different perspective this is a sad time do your research and debating in a different post.

Rest in peace Harry and Phil
