  1. Tragic accident should never have happened. After building off road and sand cars for years there is definately a correct way to brace a frame for just this type of unfortunate event. Never would we throw someone under the bus because of a chassis design, home made or by a professional builder. However our years of experience have taught us what to do and what not to do. You can build what you might consider a bulletproof chassis and still something like this can happen no matter how much tubing or how many gussets you install. We have been retrofitting sand cars for quite some time to reduce the chance of just an incident like this. Make sure your cage and roof top are x braced to lessen the chance of a a lateral collapse and although most people dont like a lid on the car this is something that can change your car from a plow to a ski. Simple changes can save a life or prevent serious injury. Other times nothing can help depending on the type of driver experience, weather conditions or just plain stupidity by others. Once again our condolences go out to the families during this difficult time.

  2. Vegas Steel Motor Sports went for a test Saturday morning June 3. Dunes were awesome in by 6:00am out by 9:00am. The car ran great a little soft in the front end but after a bypass adjustment everything worked great. We should be in production in about 30 days.

  3. Sorry to hear about Mike. However Vegas Steel Motorsports is in production of their new cars. Long Travel V8 rails. Come by and meet Shane the chief fabricator. Yard is a mess with the new addition going on but when were done we'll have 10000 sf. in about 45 days. Still looking for techs.

  4. OK change of plans... The group i was going to go meet up in glamis with just changed thier mind about dumont...and they are coming out for new years WOO HOOO!!!!

So Ill be there w/ probably... 6 or 7 others.. :D

Vegas Steel and Ahern will be there. Should be a good sized group. Probably 5 or 6 big cars with a few quads. Hopefully we'll all be able to get out Thursday p.m. We have been there for the last few years. It's a hoot. Not alot of riding but still a good time. See ya. Look for the Vegas Steel banner.

  5. Was this on the hill to the left as you go to comp by the whoop area? I saw them fly out, All I could see was a rail at the bottom of the hill and a quad that looked mangled up @ the top and alot of rangers. :(

yeah that was it dont know if the car hit the quad it appeared he just flew the razor

  6. Not sure if the info i received was correct or not but I heard that the Driver died and one of the passengers was paralyzed. not sure what happened to the other passenger.

AGAIN, NOT SURE IF THIS INFO IS CORRECT. (JUST WHAT I HEARD)

Rangers on the scene said "driver was thrown from car and flight for life took him. Passenger deceased" he also stated it appears "neither party was wearing seat belts" these are the rangers words only being repeated.

  7. does anyone know how the driver of the rail that wrecked on 12/3/05 is?he was flown out...

What a strange and tragic year. We went back to the RV where they were staying and it was dark. The rangers had towed the car to their camp and left it. The car was destroyed but even more than that the lives that were shattered with another fatal accident. Over the last 5 years as the sport has grown the accidents become more severe and more frequent. I feel horrible when something like this happens for the families and loved one's. Our condolences go out to all.
