  1. I posted something a few months ago about the March for Babies walk for the March of Dimes. Rockinfigz and I are walking for our daughter who was born @ 27 wks almost a year ago.

The walk is tomorrow and we would just like to see if anyone would like to support us and make a last minute donation. Any amount would be sincerely and greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your support. All donations are tax deductible.

  2. Rockinfigz and I had a daughter that was born prematurely last May due to complications with my pregnancy. She was 2 lbs 5 oz and 13 3/4 in. She spent the 1st 62 days of her life living in the NICU. She is now 9 months (6 months corrected) and is doing well. So far we haven't seen any developmental delays but we won't know how all of this has really affected her until she is older. She is healthy and on the small side and overall, is doing awesome. She's even already been out to the Dunes once so far at the beginning of the year and she LOVES it.

Needless to say...I started a team for her for the March of Dimes walk for babies. If anyone lives is in the Los Angeles area, we will be walking in Simi Valley on May 15th. There is also a walk in Exposition Park on April 24th if anyone is interested.

Since having gone through this experience, I feel that I need to spread awareness and be a voice for the little ones in our lives. Initially I felt helpless as it was extremely DIFFICULT to have to watch her fight so hard so early in life but making the decision to support the cause that allowed her the chance to survive was EASY.

Please consider supporting the March of Dimes. If you would like to join our team or make a donation to support the cause, please visit www.marchforbabies.org/team/giannamegan

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to read this. Please copy/paste and spread the word if you can. If you have any questions, feel free to email me: figzchic@yahoo.com

    Thanks again

  3. Rockinfigz & I are heading to Vegas this weekend. Been many many times however trying to venture away from 'habit' & are looking for really good places to eat  that aren't associated w/ the hotels on the strip...

We like all sorts of food and are open to any suggestions anyone may have! Thought what a better to place to go to for advice  then the DDR website since alot of DDR people are from Vegas.

Thanks much! Any suggestions would be appreciated! :beerpint:

  4. received our pass in the mail today--ordered it wed via phone through the BLM office. was sent certified mail and NO additional costs....$80 (no holiday weekends for us) charged to my card, that's it! no shipping costs....wooo hoooo :banghead: dumont here we come!!!! :yiah:

  5. the race starts on sat so they will by closer to baker and dumont sat, sun they are closer to vegas but the race is both sat and sun. i posted a heads up for that weekend since it has been a hassle in the past so you can avoid it if you can.

  6. we used to fill up water there from the back of the building until they opened the dairy queen, they made that spigot 'unavailable' once the drive thru was opened. the lines there during any holiday weekend are horrendous and yes it is stinky...in the past if you only got water it was $3, but dumping, trash, and water together have always been $5 as long as we've been using them (3 years now). we just got back today and it was $5 for dump and trash...heard getting water from near a sewer isn't that good of an idea so we have been filling up at home. no season passes yet, they just say to hold on to the receipt and the pass.

  7. we use a tall plastic container with a locking top for the 2 bigs dogs, a ziploc bag for the puppy. we transport them in crates like one of the pics from above...petmate type is heavy, the "furrari" crates are better in my opinion and are alot lighter and easier to transport. we also keep a "lix-it" water bottle (like for hamsters but bigger) attached to the door of the crate so the dogs have water when we are traveling. the tie out cables work like a charm to keep the dogs nearby when we are eating inside or just to restrain them, we wrap them around the step of the hauler and it keeps them close but they do get tangled and are hard to untangle especially if they get into a knot. you can try http://www.drsfostersmith.com/?ref=4397&am...smith|914620521 to find the booties for the dogs as well, haven't tried the booties but the website has a ton of stuff for dogs (and other animals)...good luck!!!

  8. rockingfigs and i usually do our dumont trips sun-wed, we'll be there this weekend 11/3-11/7...off days work better for us since we both usually work thurs-sat. sometimes we go and it's just us so it'd be nice to have someone else to ride with...

  9. that's the way we head up, 5 N to 14 N to pearblossom through victorville then 15 N, it takes us about 3 1/2 hrs to get to Baker, with no delays, they did have the 14 closed for a short time last night due to a fire off of Sand Canyon but it's open now. If you check the chp website before you leave-the incident log will tell you of closures, accidents, etc... heading all the way to Baker (need to put in Barstow to get Baker info). the web address is http://cad.chp.ca.gov/

  10. yeah it sucks down here right now, I teach at College of the Canyons and classes have been cancelled for the past 2 days. if anyone wants more info they can refer to http://www.santa-clarita.com/ website as they are keeping everyone updated on the most "current" information. Have fams in San Diego as well and they have all been evacuated but everyone is safe...we live in Northridge and the winds have calmed down today but it's hot and the smoke is just sitting over the valley, not good times at all!!! hope everyone's fams and peeps and such are safe
