  1. One of the pod filters on my Banshee years ago. Luckly it had rained and I had spares. Bike is still running on those pistons! Lost the only key to my wifes quad at the old venders row but found it. Believe it or not, lost a chain off my old Banshee. Threw the chain (didn't break the case which is a miracle) and when I got off the bike the chain was nowhere to be found. It was as if it never had one. Ghost chain?

  2. The last thing we need is more regulation in this hobby. The ONLY law/regulation that will stop accidents like these will be to either close Dumont or make off road illegal. Most of us, as off road enthusiast, realize that our hobby puts us on the ragged, jagged edge at times. Some of us tempt fate and decide to not wear helmets, drink, etc. Sometimes fate bites you back and sometimes the price paid is the ultimate one. Its going to happen again and again.

I wasn't there and only know what happened based on this forum. As a former Banshee rider that has since gone to a SxS I learned a long time ago you need to have a very healthy respect for your riding area. I also think a lot of new SxS drivers think that since they have a seat belt and a cage, they are safe.

I feel for the family. Prayers for the passenger.

  3. I will be there but Im going to camp at the baby dunes. Havent been out there in 5 years or so. Cant ride quads anymore and I kicked my Banshee down to my 15 yo daughter and she hasnt rode it in the sand yet. Plus my wife hasnt gone an a dune ride in the XP yet either. Need to get our sand feet back.

  4. I saw you guys out there. I havent been to Dumont since 2008 and havent rode much since that time either. Wrist injuries and cut nerves and tendons make it where I cant pull the clutch on my Banshee without pain so I gave up on riding. Just picked up a RZR XP last week as a last attempt to "Obey The Sand" and went to Dumont to break it in. Felt good to be home.

  5. no...they give the april issue out a month early. beieve me its a JOKE! haha

    they do it every year...

My buddy called me ina panic that this new 500 shee was gonna kill his YFZ470. I told him it was an April fools and left it at that. While at the grocery store with my wife today I decided to actually read about this mythical quad. They never said it was an April fools joke and admitted the picture was photswapped but based upon eyewitness. They also gave much more detail about this quad and gave descriptions of different proto-types. I know its probably a joke but this is one that I hope is not. As an avid Banshee lover if this is a joke, then Dirt Wheels has crossed the line!!!!!!!

  6. Sorry I didnt get over to the DDR camp this weekend. The Manx took a shiate as soon as it came off the trailer. Couldnt get it to run right. I drove by Saturday and saw someone at the DDR camp point and wave at me. I would have come by but I did not bring the Banshee. Did see Petes rail Friday night at comp, sounded sweet goin up the hill. I took my Pops rail out and found the elusive south pole, great work guys. Next trip is Vets weekend and then Turkey day!!!!!!

  7. Joe also plowed that one on top of comp this last weekend in his corvair rail. Stopped it dead. We had to pull his front end around and his rail is HEAVY! Its made of double wall water pipe or something. While we were chillin after pullin his rail out, some guy on a Raptor 700 at his chit hard on the eye next to it.

  8. I might come by and say hi but I dont know anyone. I can see me now stopping by and saying hi my name is Bumpint and I am on your forum, I'd feel totally weird and uncomfortable.

Last weekend was my first time out with these clowns. Don't be intimidated by em. Coolest bunch of people I have ever met :barf: . Just watch out for Dons coyote he hides in his shirt!

  9. I will be there with wife, kids, and dog in tow on Thursday night. Probably somewhere along the back finger away from crowds so the daughter can practise shifting with a clutch. Maybe I'll bring the duck out for Pete to play with.

  10. More observations---

Eddie believes in punishment by fire for crappy coolers

Dont forget to turn off your outside satelite television after you go to bed-you never know when HBOs Real Sex is gonna come on.

BTW, thanks to the guy who left his outside TV on, we didnt know Real Sex was gonna be on

  11. Hey Pete, I got you covered on the "Dirty Weiner"

Nice meeting everyone, had excellent times :thumb: . The Corvair rail took a beating this weekend although it was hard to tell by looking at it. It already looked beat!! :laughoff: Heads are off and the motor is not toast after all. I hope Joe and I didnt keep anyone up since we were the last ones at the fire Fri and Sat night :driver: .

My addition to the weekend observations

-RC car fuel is a crappy sobe bomb ingrediant :flipoff:

  12. I bought my season pass today and I didnt have to pay for it. The losers that leave their trash did. My kids and I pick up aluminum, plastic bottles, and glass bottles for a couple of hours every trip, throw em in a bag, throw em in my shed when I getr home, and then recycle em before the next season and almost get enough for my pass. Last seasons collections were recycled today and I got $51 so my season pass cost me 9 bucks.

  13. My Dad and I took Jeeps dopwn the trail a couple of years ago. Back then I had an 84 Jeep Scrambler. For those not familiar with Jeeps, it is 18inches longer than a normal CJ/TJ7 I think it is 118 inches long. Anyways, there was only one turn that I remeber where it was tight for my Jeep.

There is alot of cool stuff on the trail that you will miss if you did not know they were there. Thjere is one section where you actually drive on the old Tonapah and Tidewater railroad bed. Look out for railroad spikes. They are not common due to scavagers but we saw a couple.

There is one section where the dirt trail turns into what looks like old asphaut. I asked a few old salts here in Barstow about the asphault and supposedly it is part of the old old road to the town of Dumont which was not much more than a train station, kinda cool if your into old west history.

Towards the end of the trail I think, there is what is called miners dump. Basically it is where the miners would dump ther trash but there is a few old cars there (I remember on old 40s ford truck) and a couple of late 30s early 40s sedans. I found a small glass 7up bottle there. Lots of what looks like coffee cans and food cans.

If I remember right, it ends at a road and there is an old building close by. I forget what its called but it is where miners would take there gold or ore or whatever and get paid. It is close to China Lake?, that date farm.

Its a good day trip in a Jeep to go the entire way.
