Tub and shower should also have a cartridge. Sounds like there was some buildup / corrosion in the lines that got pushed into your fixtures.

Could be your cartridges in the faucets or your angle stops under the sinks dropped and will need to be changed. The weird thing is that you had air coming out in the first place though.
