  1. Went and saw Chris today. The place he is at has got to be one of the nicest and cleanest rehab facilities I have ever walked into. We talked about how great the people of DDR have been to him and his family and how many people came to support him. It made me feel good to know that I could just pull up this website and read the "Grimace updates" and feel like I was right there. This website and everyone involved rocks. :headbang1:

  2. I'm not a child nor do I have kids, but I do have asmatha. I was perscribed ADVAIR and have only used the rescue inhailer a few times in the last couple months. Works wonders. It lists every side effect in the book, but I have suffered none of those, only good breathing. Fairly expensive but worth it to breathe well all day long.

  3. Nice, Happy 40th Randy. I might have to slap around your brother(Grimace) a little for not giving the heads up. :beercheers: Its not like my wifes parents live on the next street over or anything. Oh well, thats enough crying for me. So happy birthday again and we'll see you in the sand. :mc::pics:

  4. Halon will take so much oxygen out of the air you won't be able to breath anywhere neer the discharge. FM200 has replaced Halon for the most part...

The downside of Halon is that it and other CFCs were the subject of a 1987 United Nations protocol signed by the United States and nearly 100 other nations, which essentially banned production of Halon for most purposes by the year 2000. In November 1992, that cutoff was accelerated to January 1994 with a more than $40 per pound excise tax on the Halon being imposed

    here in the U.S.

The only Halon sources today are from existing first-run stocks and recycled material collected from old fire extinguishing systems in aircraft, computer rooms, libraries, etc. At least aviation is permitted to continue to use Halon "until further notice," because the United Nations has recognized that no effective substitute agents for firefighting in aircraft yet exist. Heavy Halon users such as the military and airlines, where Halon-charged systems protect engine, lavatory and cargo compartments are scrambling for an effective replacement agent.

I work for a company that installs and recharges extinguishers. Halitron is the new Halon. Just as expensive without all the downsides of Halon.

  5. Must be nice living close to work. My wife and I are good for about $600-$800 a month on gas. Thought we'd move a little further away to save money on our house. That worked for about the first year till property values went in the toilet and gas prices took off. Way to think things through huh. :smoker:

  6. I heard throught the grapevine that you are still allowed to text while driving. Don't know if thats true, but if it is, eff that. That will mean 4 times the amount of phone related accidents.

I heard the same thing about the texting. As long as your not physically holding the phone to your ear. So Bluetooth, speaker phone or any hands free device and your legal.

  7. We are leaving on the 4th for Kauai for a week. Get married on April 20th go on the honeymoon July 4th. :usa: We can't wait to get out there and chill real hard. Maybe do a little :bar: and a little :laughoff: then probably :usa: and then we'll wake up looking :moon: So it will probably be like every other vacation we go on, with the exception of blue water, white sand beaches and everyone saying "Aloha" and Brah". As long as the airline buisness is still up and running it should be a good time.

  8. 2 Yrs but I've been in and out of the real estate business in other forms a few times. My timing is impeccable for another attempt. Glad I have other talents (DHL, House Of Stickers).

I was in the car in and out a few times. That's getting hammered as well. People are hurting in every industry. It's amazing how everything is intertwined in one way or another.

Almost everything is tied together somehow. My buddy owns a car lot in Upland and gets calls all the time from RE agents and Loan Officers that are trying to get rid of their Lexus's and Benz's cause they cant afford the payments anymore. They are trading them in for Civic's and Camry's. He is getting the trade ins for dirt cheap but the probelm is that he cant rurn around and sell them. Like yourself I also have another job to keep a paycheck going. I am licensed to service and install fire extinguishers. Recession proof job, the State Fire Marshall makes sure of that. Get them serviced or they fine you or shut you down. Not as easy as appraisals but the money is just as good.

  9. Congrats man. The OC is still suckin' eggs. We're seeing a little more work but nobody can get anything closed :laughoff: The lenders have all sorts of stupid requests. I'm sure your seeing them too.

Thanks for the info on the FHA certification. I just printed the form out about 2 weeks ago I just have to send it in. Funny, I've never had a request for an FHA until 2 weeks ago. Apperently those have been rare for the past 10 years:) How long have you been in the business?

Good news for everybody else, maybe the bottom is in sight and builders and contractors can get some work done on these distressed properties that folks are buying. :6pak:

I have only been doing this for about 3 1/2 years. How about you? The lender requests for the conventional loans are just about freaking rediculous. Most of the things they want are not even required. The FHA loans were pretty rare due to their loan limits. In california we have been out of the $200,000's for quite some time. Most of the houses I have done have just been complete disasters and are in much need of some repairs. I like to be as positive as I can, and i just dont see how the values could drop much lower. This is still California and people flock here.

  10. I'm right with ya, and when I do get an appraisal, the value just isn't there. People are losing $20K a month and lenders are being stingy. So Cal is hammered.

As of a couple of weeks ago we started to get slammed with business. We are doing a lot of FHA jobs since they raised the loan values. They are all bank owned properties and people are getting into them for so cheap that I dont even have to try and get the value. My advice for you would be to get FHA certified. No more test, its just a matter of filling out the form and sending it in. Oh, and learning all the stupid FHA requirements. Like how thick the insulation is. Stupid. Good luck.

  11. There is a place in Baker at the top of the town if coming from So Cal. It is on the left hand side. Last I was there I just looked for a big a$$ propane tank due to the buisness or whatever it is looking like a house. The guy said for the right price he would do fill ups at night but for the most part its a daylight operation. This has been a fews years since I have been there but per the guy at Mobil it was the only place in town that refilled propane.

  12. My girlfriend of about 3 years and I just got engaged this past weekend in Dumont. I asked her on Saturday to go for a little ride and we ended up on the front dune just above a-1 on the grid map and with ring in hand I popped the question. We rode back to camp and all our friends had there bikes and rails linded up in 2 rows and someone put rose petals on the ground. They were reving their bikes and shooting off fireworks. It was way cool, and my girlfriend seemed to be the happiest girl in the world that day. I just thought I would share this cause she always gives me crap about being on this site and not hanging with her. So at least now she can read this and see that I was talking about her. That should buy me a few free nights of un interrupted DDR time. Oh and by the way she said yes.

  13. Just wanted to give an update to the overspray removal. We used denatured alcohol and a soft cloth. Worked like a champ. There were a few spots that we had to rub a little hard. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the neighbor waiting a few months before he brought this to my attention. :beercheers: Anyway thanks for all the advice I appreciate it. :eatdrink021:

  14. Thanks for all of the advice, I will probably start out with the easier sounding stuff and then work my way forward. This site is awesome. If you have a question, just type it out and sit back for a day or so and BAM you have like 10 different ideas. I will probably handle it sometime soon and give an update on what I used and how it worked. Maybe I should wait a few months to fix it since the jack hole waited a few months to tell me. :beercheers:

  15. Yep yep yep on the clay it usually works on stuff like that. you can find the clay and the spray wax at most automotive stores. Don't underestimate things like mineral spirits, paint thinners, Whatever you have used to clean up your tools sprayer etc, you can try. use clean rags lot's of them , but first try it on a less than obvious spot. Most of the solvents that you would use to clean that stuff up won't affect "good" auto paint. use soft rags but be careful and don't try it on hot paint cool it off first!! also just for giggles try rubbing it with ice, ice will remove some things and wont take off the wax!!! Good luck and if the solvent works make sure you wax it or at least use the spray wax stuff.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping I would get a response from you since I know this is your field. I'll give an update when I try everything out. :whacky101:

  16. Ohh, You did it now Biiiiiillllll,

How old is the paint on the truck?

How much stain got on it?

3 months? Does he ever drive the thing?

Clay sounds good, Better wash the chit out of it first.

Good luck, Post the results too, mang.

    R-

What up Randy. He said that he just didn't want to bother me which I guees is why he took so long to tell me. :ninja: He drives the thing all the time, he's just busy I guess. The truck is like a 04-06 Dodge Dakota. White.

I'll for sure post the results. Hopefully they are good results.
