  1. Yeah, well some of my friends give me a hard time!!! And, we don't venture to that part of town very often. LOL! Mark is going to LOVE the flag and light I got him!!!

Hey, are you guys still planning on going President's Day weekend??? We don't have any hooligans coming with us. Even Joe got his own rig!!! Thank goodness because we tested out the rig locally and the black tank fills up quickly. Yellow is mellow - brown is down!!! LOL!!!

Hey, we just got a shipment of attire from rockymountainatv.com today!!! More clothes to match and look cool at the dunes!!

    :beercheers:

We still want to come. I just found out that Ashley's school is asking for next year's tuition deposit. If we have to pay this month then I have to say no we cant make it. If not then it's on....

  2. I wanted to buy one of those light ropes pole things for our new toyhauler. Where would I get one of those? Any websites you know of??? I was hoping if I can order one today, I'd have it by President's Day weekend!

    Thanks!!!

    :P

Next time try one of your friends that have a pole. Maybe he knows. I've got a better place than poles & holders.. It must be that I live in North town..... People from North town couldnt possibly know about such things.

  3. I dont ride a honda.... therefore i have no clue how long it takes to adjust valves... I do however ride a yamaha... but i still have no clue as to how long it would take to adjust the valves because i never had too.. Never any signs of my valves going out of whack. NO excessive valve noise, Starts first kick every time, power loss's are all in the 4 y/o piston.. so i dunno what to tell ya. :D

    Cant ask for much more.......

    Late

    Chop.

  4. If i had to adjust my valves as often as you do with that ktm im sure i can do them in 20 min's too!

Do you understand the maintence schedule and checking of the valves on a KTM or Honda?? Both are pretty much the same. But they are not even close in the time it takes to do them. I can do mine with the tank and shrouds on the bike. I can do mine in about 20-30mins. Can you say that about the honda? I'm not the fasest by any means nor am I the Best. I just know that you and I are talking about 2 totally different things.

No worries bro. Both bikes are awesome!

  5. Ok, I've driven go carts, shifty carts, and I own 3 KTM's. I was told that a first-timer that buys a rail should not get anything close to 500HP. I was told that I should stick to low hp because I'll get into big trouble with the HP. I have a good head on my shoulders. I always (try) ride my bike within my ability. I have the money to spend $50K on a nice used rail or a new one but I'm actually putting some merit to what my friend is saying to me. Is he correct, somewhat correct? He is really over-cautious.

    Thanks

  6. Our friends saw the crash. Said it was pretty crazy. We were camping over by the Sheriff's near the entrance. We saw Mercy Air fly in and fly someone out about an hour or so after the crash.

Our friend was involved in a crash on her quad with a 2 wheeler on Friday. She was hurt, but not too bad. Apparently, the guy that crashed into her was worse off - not sure if he went to the hospital.

My husband was playing with one of the kid's quads in our little cirle at camp. He and another guy at our camp got a ticket for riding a quad without a helmet - STUPID TICKET!!! They were just playing around, going about 3-4 miles an hour inside our camp area. The sheriff checked all the bikes at camp for OHV stickers. We had them on our quads, but no one else had their's on the bikes. She didn't cite them for the tickets, but we have to pay $50 for the helmet ticket. What makes me mad is that their were all kinds of people sailing past their camp way over 15 MPH and closer than 50 feet. And some people were riding around at night without lights on. Oh well, at least it's only $50. LESSON - DON'T PARK NEAR THE SHERIFF'S AREA!!!!

Get the Raptor! We are going back in 3 weeks!!!!

    Don't forget the paddles!

Call me if you need help.

  7. I agree with most everyone when they say the LBZ (07 DMax) doesn't need any more power. In my opinion, the LLY programmed is just a tad more peppier than the LBZ stock. Keep it stock and see how it does- I know you'll be happy as it sits. :DDRrocks:

You've never ran a diesel with a programmer on it have you? MAN they really come alive! If you can put a programmer on a LB7.......WOW look out.

I have the LBZ and let me tell you, I have fun beating a 5.0 mustang and have the mustang guy get pissed because he just got his AZZ whiped by a 8000lb truck. :stirthepot:

  8. I have an 02 Dura/Ally. I have been runnng the Edge for the last 3 yrs. I've never had a problem with the dealership. I ALWAYS take out the programer before I go to the dealership! That way they never can tell if you have a programmer in the truck. As far as the Pyro, that's not going to void anything. Its not going to do any damage to the vehicle as long as it's installed right. I did the HOOT method and not a problem. My truck has all of the injectors replaced under warranty. They didnt even blink when they say the pyro. Also you must show some restraint when using the programmer. If your foot is in the firewall all the time your going to Limp the tranny and cause engine damage.

I pull a 38.5 Rampage Hauler without any problems with the programmer.

  9. Hey all,

I'm new to this fourm. I'm new to rails but not the desert or dunes. I've wanted a rail for the last 10yrs but never pulled the trigger (yet). I've really never ridden in a rial but always wanted to. So now that I'm going to get one my question is, what is best for a neophyte?

I have so many questions I dont know where to start.

    1. Frame- what is the best to work around on if you have to do any engine/tranny work?

    2. Engine- I like the cost factors with a VW or smaller engine but love the power a V-8 makes but not the cost? Which is the best?

    3. Suspension- there are so many I just dont know. (I'm not sure if I like to jump)

4- Due to cost's I'd like to keep the rail price below $25K (to start with until I either like it or not).

5- anything else you want to add will help.

    Thanks

    Chop.

  10. a honda 450 ( with its sh*tty valves) will eat the 525 like its a pos !!! proven to many times

On a MX track only! Then I agree. Listen man, I've owned an 2004 Honda 450 for about 2 months. She was probbly the best balanced bike I ever sat on. BUT it was not the best bike I ever owned. My KTM 450XC is the best bike I've ever ridden. Hands down a better bike than my old Honda. I dont ride MX tracks so there's no reason to own a Honda.

  11. What's the deal on KTM's?

Are they competitive performance wise with state of the sport Rice burners?

See them at the dunes all the time, but the blue bikes always seem to be faster.

    Interesting company KTM.

They build quite a line of bikes.

A euro bike biz in a world dominated by the Rice Burners.

Unique would be a good word.

We're going to give their quad a good long look when it comes out would like to know more about the stuff they now make.

Did some of their 4 stroke models have over heating problems?

What are your takes on KTM's.

Ktm's are green stickered (4stk) and most of the 2stk are green stickered (except the sx model). The bikes are jetted real lean so they can pass the California carb restrictions. Like any good bike owner you will jet to your riding areas.

  12. If you get a KTM, you are gonna wanna do just that, KTM (kill the mechanic), because they will always cost more to fix than a Japanese bike.

Dude you are way wrong. Parts cost just the same as a JAP bike. The BIG DIFFERENCE is, KTM parts dont break (like a jap bike) they wear out. As far as working on a KTM. I'd rather do that than on any other bike out there. As any of your friends who bought HONDA. Ask them about their $hitty valves. Why does KTM's come with top knotch parts and ALL Jap bike come with crap. Take a look at a KTM up close on a showroom floor and look at Honda. They are worlds apart in the way their are made and the parts.

Tell you what, I'll do my valves in my 4stk in 20min. YOU CAN SAY THAT WITH A JAP BIKE.

Sorry to be so heated it's just I get real worked up when ill-informed people make a statement that they cant back up about KTM.

  13. Im not a fan of their four strokes... but their 2 strokes are awesome... :D The bigger 4 strokes get a little rough to turn and finding parts is a turn down for me at least.

You are so WRONG when it comes to parts! I've owend 4 KTM's over the last 5yrs and I've never had any problems finding parts nor has any of my friends who have KTM's ever had trouble finding parts!

I can go into problems with EVERY bike maker they all have them. KTM builds a better bike with better components than any JAP bike.........

    It's a fact....

  14. Good Sam Club offers them. Also there warranty is probbly the best. They also have RV Ins that is second to none. Remember your State Farm, Allstate etc... Ins agency that you have your TH thru will only give you appreacated value of your coach. Otherwise if your coach is 4yrs old and you have an accident guess what, you only will get 38% of it's value. Good Sam will give you full price of value and no depreacation. (yea my spelling sucks).....;)
