  1. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is providing a FREE Child OHV Safety Course at the Sheriff's/BLM command post at Dumont on Saturday, 10-30-10. The first class will start at 9AM and the second will start at 2PM. Classes should last between 1-2 hours. Bring your child and their quad/MC as we teach them the basics for safe OHV riding. Each child will be given a certificate (and CANDY!!) at the completion of the class. Happy Halloween! See ya at the dunes.....

    Thanks for the info

  2. What a great weekend !! Wheather was nice a lil cold at nite but not bad. Seems to had alot less peeps than I had thought but still fun comp was really dead the whole weekend.

Met a real cool dude named Chris over at vendors row That helped me out with a broken axle. Thanks again a :thumb: real good guy would and will send peeps too him in the future. This weekend was the reason I love Dumont the people and vendors are AWSOME and I truly mean it!!

Just a couple reasons I say this..................

    1. The guy that helped me out (Chris) with rail

    2. A friend and I went to the showers and he forgot his $5 at camp and the guy told him" it was cool and just bring him the 5 later (yes we did a.s.a.p.)

3.On Fri. morning went to vendors row early looking for java and stopped at Als BBQ to get three coffees and when I went to pay he told me just come back for a sandwhich later so I did and wow what a sandwhich it was great and THANKS AGAIN AL!!

Had several mishaps with rail to only find a helping hand what a good feeling knowing you can dune and if something happens people will help !! SO THANKS to every true fellow Duners

  3.

"Last trip it was brought to our attention that the speeds around the camp sites are out of control. That issue will be a main focus of ours this go around".

Above is a quote from another post by a member of the SBSO.

I know the rule about slowing down within a short distance of camp sites.

What I don't understand is the speeds that are tolerated on the flats in general. We live with the dust it creates and the potential for a serious accident but it is getting worse, isn't it?

If you happen to camp close to a main return route from the dunes or Comp hill there seems to be no speed limit. Since we usually camp west of the road it seems to much worse here. We've camped east of the road and it didn't seem as bad.

Is this because it is considered part of the dunes? With the number of campers on the flats , is it time to rethink this rule?

Primarily it is the younger demographic of riders like from 14 to 25 or so, both male and female.

More recently more of the larger faster mega rails are opening them up on the flats also. Older drivers that should be more responsible!!! Generally, doing "Wheelies" showing off or just acting like fools. I am not talking about way out away from the camps but certainly too close for comfort.

Also there appears to be a speed limit on the road from the entrance to at least the first finger that is not enforced either, as it appears to me. I have been rocked and dusted on the road trying to maintain the posted speed limit. At least, it is posted up by the Ranger Compound.

:thumb: IMHO it, the flats from the entrance to the dunes should be consider the camping area and speeds limited.

Anyone else have the same belief? Or am I "Peeing on a forest fire"?

I totaly agree . We usualy camp just past the entrance of comp or the end of the old vendors row. What I have noticed is that since they moved the vendors 1. there is a lot less patrol in this area now and peeps seem to haul  in all directions in this area now (toilet #8) vicinity and have had more close calls and seen more idiots racing the big rails through here the last three trips

4 years ago on T- day I counted 3 areas where they had radar guns nailing everybody but just warning them and issuing very few citations.

The way I see it is give a few tickets to the ones who are really out of control and the word will get out fast.

Example I am not a Glamis person but just hearing all the stories about the LEOS out there I have no reason to want to go there.

  4. Dunning family needs your help!

  5. i think we should have more than one clean up weekend. even if the dumpsters dont come out everyone can just throw it away at home. just like derek said this is another reason they will close down dumont. who cares about the flowers and lizards when the tree huggers see all the trash every where take a few pics show a judge or whoever can shut it down and they say look how well they treat this place and dumont will be gone.

im just saying it will be way easier to have 2 or 3 clean up weekends than to have to try to get dumont back after its closed. just my :beercheers:

  6. :headbang1: see them out at the d all the time

One of my neighbors tows a 24 or 25ft toyhauler with his class C. And I have seen several others do the same with class A. Pretty smart idea in my opinion, extra water, beds, bathrooms. And I'm all for kids having their own space, lol

  7. :rockwoot: I did the same thing last year but as I went to the Rangers I seen the truck and trailer about half way down the road and the ranger chased him down made him turn around and pick it up as the piece of :poop: drove by me :old: so on his way back by I gave him a friendly :beercheers: and said go to that other place

I got an extra couple of trash bags from some pukes :flatbiller: camping next to us sunday...

On the way out I went by the Ranger/Sheriff station and gave the 2 truck and trailer plates to the Blm... :P

They will be cited via U.S. Mail... And yes I will go to court on it.... Its not that a couple of things were blowen out of their camp it was the whole weekends trash!!!

  8. Last year I had the whole Wizard of Oz clan show up at camp, it was great ! I gave the little one that was the cowardly lion half my candy! and then there was the sasquatch dude , man I wish I was going this year .

I remember those guys and the llittle lion was a cote one I did the same just kept droppind handfuls in the little pumpkin!that little one was cool then again they all are thats what its all about!@! Love Dumont Halloween!! That other place makes me :watching:

  9. Just returned from a 2 day trip at Pismo , and while I was there the first 20 min I broke an axle and of course I thought I was gonna get it in the :pissed: but I found a lil shop off of Main St. on Third St. named Joes Buggy Haus not only did he have everything I needed it was suprisingly at a great price $60.00 for axle, bearings seals etc. so I thought I would let everyonr on DDR know about this little shop.

  10. Got home about 8 a.m. great trip not as many people as past few years ,but still quite a few, the best part of my trip was winning the 50/50 :rockwoot: makes it easier to repair the rail ,since I broke my trans this trip but all in all GREAT trip :DDRrocks:

  11. Well Said

Hopefully a new president will help us all out....

Wasn't this the topic :driver: Obama the azzhat should of done something about the stupid azz iniggeration that cost 150 million. The most money ever spent. WOW, imagine that??? Couldn't he of stepped up and used the money elsewhere????????People were not celebrating the President...............they were celebrating the color of the President. :whoop: Pathitic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :whoop::whoop::driver:
