  1. Hello everyone,

I'm sadly starting the process of selling my 2008 Yamaha Raptor 700R, it is in excellent condition, it is the yamaha blue color, factory graphics, like new condition (just a bit dusty). Dealer maintained at the Ride Now shop on boulder highway where it was also purchased new. It has an estimated 80 hours on it, I have been unable to go riding in the past year so its sat in my fathers storage in henderson. I would like to get $5000 for it, but I'm open to offers (please dont low ball me). It has a Power Commander III USB installed and a two brothers slip on race pipe. It has stock dirt tires and rear paddles. It ran great the last time I used it over a year ago, but it has been started a few times and it has Stabil in the gas.

Please call me or email me with offers, e-mail is raptorracer82@hotmail.com

  2. anyone see the latest legislation passed by our fearless leader :B

it seems that because of possible lead content in the engine cases and other cast metal parts all the under 85cc quads/bikes are banned until they are up to spec with current laws.

just wondered if anyone has more info on this, or to alert all of you about this

this also affects parts/aftermarket and accessories

  3. what unlock code? i have ATT also and would like to be able to use it at dumont. let me know what you find out

depending on if your phone is a world phone you may or may not be able to use signals other than what ATT uses... my phone, a blackjack, can connect to any available digital signal but ATT has it locked so it only uses their frequency. you can get an unlock code from ATT for your specific phone for use outside the US, or outside ATT service areas.

  4. last weekend when i was out there, ATT had jack squat... my buddy that has nextel had service the whole time... and verizon guys seem to always have signal...

i think im gonna call up att to get the unlock code so i can use any and all available signals...

  5. damn i wish i worked with you brent they must be treating you very well

lol, duh kyle, im gettin paid a little over 2x what i made at the ccsd and only work 4 days a week...

i dont know how long the hiring freeze will stay around at the city, but if a position opens up you should go for it, its worth the effort if you get lucky and get the position

  6. sweet brent you got a new 700! very reliable, you remember mine back when you were doing kyles carb? Still running strong.

ya, i remember ya... so far everything I read about the 700's convinced me... i really do wish the banshee would have kept it together for the season though... oh well, whats spent is spent

  7. Thats good that your getting ready to fix up your Banshee..!! :assblast:

Put up pix of the top end if you can ... I would like to know what may of caused you bike to quit..

My Banshee has been good so far since the rebuild 2 years ago... Its a 89 Shee with a Paul Turner top end w/ The Paul Turner Mid pipes. The Carbs are after market, The top end has a Cool Head W/ a Power Radiator, The rest is just exterior billet stuff....

I run it 32:1 with Yamaha Lube... The fuel is 91 Octane pump gas...

Was your Bike on the stock side?

    Good Luck..

P.S. Post if you need some other parts.. I still have some top end stuff laying around..

    :dunno:

i gotta look and see what the deal is gonna be with the banshee... i just went and got a brand new '08 raptor 700 from the dealer tonight, so ill atleast get a good dune season with or without the shee... im gonna pop off the head in the mornin and check for (crossing my fingers) pinched o-rings in the head, or atleast see if the piston grenaded or some other random event...

my bike is stock inspired, all the power adders are just bolt ons, the cylinders were bored .030 over the last time it popped to clean em up, other than that, stock porting, stock carbs, and not really anything that should affect reliability too much other than the cool head... but either way ill let you all know

  8. Hey Brent, sorry to hear about your Banshee. I'm a long time observer/reader of DDR, :rockwoot: but just recently joined and couldn't help but notice something in this thread. My son has an '89 Banshee. Barefoot Bob said it well, do the exterior mods and leave the insides stock for reliability. My kid's YFZ has Trinity stage 3 &4 mods and basically stock except for suspension and pipe upgrades. He runs 32:1 mixture of 91 oct and Castrol 927. Never had a problem in 8 years until he accidently added a half tank of unmixed 91 to his tank. Guess what!?!? An hour later he holed the #1 cylinder.

I haven't seen anyone mention gas mixture/ratio. Did you just fill it up shortly before your run???? Just my :DDRrocks: Good luck in your rebuild and don't let it spoil your season!!!

    Bob

im not all too extreme in the power adder mods and such yet in the internals... the crank thats in it now is a new stock stroke hotrods crank and the ports are still stock... im planning to tear down the top end this weekend so i can get a better picture of what went wrong. im running 40:1 oil mix with ams oil 2 stroke oil with 100 octane fuel. again, i was running the 100 octane fuel as an extra measure of insurance on the motor...

    oh well...

as far as the O2 sensors go, i'd be willing to hook up and install some O2's but its kinda pointless unless its running... I have heard of other people setting up wide bands on banshee's, but its usually more the drag guys that have them, and on the dyno everyone has a wideband sniffer in the pipes

  9. for the heat cycle stuff the extreme amount of time has been due to the lack of availability of actual riding time... everything as far as jetting was dialed in within the first hour of run time...

as far as anything else goes, im doing all the work myself and following the instructions of a couple different people and lots of help reading articles and such off of bansheehq and working with a local builder.

as far as the breakin procedures, everyone has their own deals... for the banshee's i like to do a couple of heat cycles, then re-torque everything, as stated above not having the time/money/others to ride with limited my ability to take the banshee out for long runs...

  10. well, unfortunately the banshee only ran for a total of 15 hours, and 10 of those were doing heat cycles and carb tuning...

after riding around for about 4 hours, and not really ripping on it hard it started bogging really bad and i struggled to get out of a little bowl around the back side... got to flat ground and was towed back to camp by my buddy... pull the spark plugs and one had aluminum on it, so, another piston gone!!!!

dangit couldnt have come at a worse time, we hadent even left vegas 12 hours earlier, and already had to pack up and head home plagued with breakdowns on 2 of the 3 quads we went with... anyway, im irritated at the situation and really pissed that my dune season may be up in smoke before it really gets started

thanks to those of you that stopped by while i was in the bowl lettin the motor cool down and waitin on my buddy bringing parts and the tow quad...

  11. im seein 3.59 for diesel 2 at the circle K on lakemead and boulder in hendo, and the rebel at van W & lake mead and the rebel on warm springs & marx are both at 3.59 last i saw

i'd love to see diesel down to the price it was when my family first got a diesel... you know 0.89/gal

  12. me and a few buddies will be out at the Big D october 10-12, feel free to stop by and say whatsup... i ride a black and red banshee and have a black ford dually pullin a Patio Hauler 5th wheel... my buddy and his family ride various polaris quads and he has a white dodge dually towin a victory lane 5th wheel and our other friend rides a black and red raptor 660 and drives a gold lifted chevy 1500

if you see us feel free to stop by, sorry we wont be offering any alcohol up but we keep a dry camp in that manor but ill hook you up with some water/gatorade/soda

    cya out there

    Brent

  13. ISBB, i know how the motor being apart is, my shee's been torn down for 5 months, and im finally gettin around to tossing it back together this weekend and hopefully having it running by next weekend... after that it up to fate if the motor will last more than one trip to the big D... if it dont, i get the feeling i'll be spending a lot of money on somthing new and let the shee sit for a while.

See you all out there!!!!!!!!!!!! cant wait, im half way ready to just go get a new 700R or a YFZ450 again... just so I will make the whole season!...

  14. the basic differences of motorhome vs 5th wheel/trialer... if your motorhome has drive train issues while on vacation, now you are out of a place to stay, you dont have 24/7 access to your home away from home, and it can sometimes be difficult to get parts depending on the manufacturer... however the up sides out weigh these potential issues for some people. as far as being stuck in the cab of the truck, check the state laws in the areas you wish to travel... If i remember correctly as long as you have a constant reliable open line of communication between the cab and 5th wheel you can have people in the 5th wheel (in NV and Utah, never had a problem in CA either, just keep the blinds down)... this does not apply to trailers though.
