From the research I've done over the last two years, it appears that the Garmin has a better operating system and the likelyhood of getting you to your location in a much more direct fashion than comparable other systems. After reading all the reviews that i why I ultimately went with a Garmin unit for my Girlfriend, two years ago. I recently started looking at one for myself, and again I came back to another Garmin unit after reading all the reviews. Checkout GPS magazine, the guy that does the reviews usually does side by side comparisons against several comperable units at the same time.

  2. I have a co-worker who fried a capacitor on his home A/C unit. He has the part and the part number, but I haven't the foggiest idea if there are any parts suppliers here in town that will sell to the public. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  3. I agree with Cole about Wes, but I know Wes has several large projects he's been working on for a while.

I would also recommend Paint Masters, they have since moved from off of Trop to Boulder Hwy area inside another shop. Shannon the shop manager has been a long time friend of mine and has produced Magazine feature paint jobs. I have no idea of the cost, but it may be worth checking into as well.

  4. I have a thunderbird on my upper right arm done shortly after I joined the military, and I have the roman numeral 3 over my heart.

The roman numeral was done right after I found out my son (who is me the 3rd) had Hodgkin's lymphoma, we found out on his 10th birthday. He's about to turn 13 and doing great!

No piercings..... I think I missed that generation...

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah congressman Bill Orton died in an ATV accident when his machine flipped over on a sand dune at Little Sahara Recreation Area. He was 60.

Juab County Sheriff Alden Orme told The Associated Press that Orton died almost immediately of his injuries about 4 p.m. Saturday.

Orton, a Democrat, was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for Utah governor in 2000.

Orme said Orton was riding alone when his all-terrain vehicle crested a sand dune and the machine crashed, flipping over on him.

His body was taken by ambulance to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi. An autopsy is pending.

Orton, who was wearing a helmet, was among thousands of four-wheel enthusiasts at the popular park, "a fun but dangerous place to ride," the sheriff said.

"Out there, it's a lot of rolling hills. He went off a sand dune without realizing how far down he was going," he said.

Injuries are common. Orme said several other riders Saturday were involved in crashes or collisions, and more than two dozen were injured last weekend, when five had to be airlifted by medical helicopters to hospitals.

Former Utah Gov. Michael Leavitt, a Republican, said in a statement that he joins the state of Utah in mourning the death of Orton, who he met nearly 40 years ago.

"Outside the glare of politics I had occasions to observe him as a missionary, father, husband and lawyer. He did them all in a noble and gentlemanly way," said Leavitt.

Leavitt served as Utah's governor from 1993 to 2003 and defeated Orton in his bid for the governorship in 2000.

University of Utah law professor Scott Matheson, a Democratic figure who knew Orton well, called his death "shocking and tragic."

"Bill was very smart and capable. He was a dedicated public servant and continued to have much public service to offer," Matheson said. "Voters in the most Republican district in the country thought so much of his talents that they elected him as a Democrat to Congress three times. He worked hard and effectively on their behalf."

Orton is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn, and two sons, Will and Wes.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Jacquelyn and the Orton children at this difficult time," Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said in a statement late Saturday.

"He was a dedicated public servant who worked to serve his constituents to the very best of his ability. He loved his family greatly and he also loved our wonderful state. He will be missed by many for his knowledge and experience, including me," Hatch said.

  7. ya I knew they had been practicing very heavy here latley.

BUt everyone out there had huge SLR cameras... CRazy stuff. not to mention shortly after about 30 jets, bombers and helicopters took off to do some night training.

Yesterday ended a three week long Red Flag exercise.

  8. Hey pete,

have you ever thought about parking off of LV BLVD and taking pics of the Thunderbirds this time of year? I do not know if they post their practice schedule or not but yesterday they were practicing and their were no less then 70 cars and 100 photographers lined up all with VERY NICE equipment..... :freakin_nuts: almost like they have a website for it or something.

They've been practicing very heavy for the last week and a half, they were prepping for review. The ACC (Air Combat Command) Commander did his yearly approval for their road show yesterday.

  9. Maybe these signs don't exsist out here, but back East there are signs on every major road that say:

    KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT WHEN PASSING

Having only been here for two years now, I could only wish that that rule was followed. The fast lanes anywhere west of New Mexico seem to be anything but.

Sorry to stir the pot, but the left lane is for folks moving faster than the folks in the right lane everywhere I've driven except out here.

  10. I was driving the golf carts from handicapped lots 6 and 7 to gates B,E, and F both Saturday and Sunday. Walked into the race Sunday long enough to drain the vein. I had a ball metting people from all over the world.
