  1. The last few seasons worked pretty well for the Trunk or Treat, though I didn't feel the spirit like it used to. We all used to hop in trucks and head camp to camp, all with decorated camps and such. That's when it was the coolest, IMO! Part of the fun was driving around the flats until we saw a camp all lit up and decorated.

Closed due to C-19? If so that's ridiculous, and unless they are not getting paid they should at minimum be calling / emailing people back.

I have called the office and left 5 voicemails in the past 2 months. I can confidently say they are not calling people back.

  3. Hey everyone! When was the last time anyone was able to contact the Barstow Field Office? I've called multiple times in the last few months regarding the paperwork to possibly vend over Halloween weekend, and also the ability to start selling passes at a shop in LV. The recording says that everyone is still working from home, and to leave a message and someone will call you back (When? When everyone returns to work after the election? 😉

Pete, I know you have secret access to the office, could you see why they haven't been answering my calls, or maybe have them call me?

  4. We usually camp right next to the ranger's station between that and vendor's row. We used to camp near the fingers and it was like camping next to I-15. By the ranger's station, we don't see too many people fly by (EXCEPT FOR RANGERS GOING 30+ WITHOUT THEIR LIGHTS ON, 20 FEET FROM THE BACK OF MY TOY HAULER).

    1. Stock tires will work, just not as good as paddles. How many people will be in your machine? If you and 1 passenger, do 8psi rear 10 front. If 4 do 10 rear 12 front. Having 2 psi more In the front will help engage 4wd. And you need to be in 4wd.

    2. Use 4wd.

    3. Use 4wd. Don't ever stop pointing uphill, or sideways. Only pointing down. If you are side hilling, or going around a bowl, or transitioning... don't slow down to much, you'll roll. When in doubt, throttle out very much applies.

    4. Obviously transition parallel to the dune. Turn into it, and just let it transition over. Trust your machine. Don't turn your wheel back into the dune once you transition, you will roll. Just keep rolling straight along the top or turn down.

The gas is your friend. If your ass end starts sliding out because you're going to slow around a bowl or whatever, push the skinny pedal. It will straighten you out. Don't slow down to much while transitioning, you'll roll. Use the gas.

Like I said, when in doubt..throttle out.

Don't buy them right away. If you are a frequent duner and know you'll be coming back quite a bit, yes, paddles make a huge huge difference.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. I'll try to help you out the best I can.

All of this is great info! The paddles are not a necessity, I have an 18 XP1K and I've been duning a year without paddles. Run 4wd and keep your momentum and you will be fine.

  6. Well, since no one has started this topic, I will!

What day is everyone going out? What's everyone bringing? Any special Turkey Day plans?

Going to Sand Hollow the weekend before Thanksgiving and then headed to Dumont Wednesday night/Thursday morning!

  7. The girlfriend has a habit of grabbing on the top of the door on our RZR. I told her a story of a couple years back when we were sitting at Comp and saw a UTV roll all the way down the steep side. I can't remember if the passenger or the driver grabbed the roll cage but in doing so, actually lost all four fingers. Much time was spent climbing the side of Comp looking for the missing appendages.

Needless to say, she's gotten better at grabbing the "grab handle"

    Dune safe people!

    Isn't Halloween this coming weekend

Is anyone going to be out there this coming weekend

This past weekend was the official holiday Halloween weekend for Dumont. You might see a bunch of people that chose to go on an "off weekend" this weekend.

  9. One of our fellow duners passed a couple weeks ago from Cancer. He was a dear friend of mine and was a huge impact on our camp. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a custom flag I can have made for this upcoming season? I have the design ready, just need a custom flag company to make it.

    Thanks a bunch!

  10. Hello guys!

Haven't posted or have been remotely involved recently and I’m sorry.

    I have a 2007 F250 4x4 lifted 10” on 37s. I am in the market for a toy hauler.

The receiver height from the ground is 26.5”. Not sure how much of a drop I should do if I go with a bumper pull toy hauler. Maybe one of you all could guide me in the right direction, my belief is 8” drop? Also, if I do a receiver drop adapter, will it be remotely strong enough to hold a 7000-8000# trailer after I use the weight distribution hitch set up?

Is my truck too tall to tow a 5th wheel? I’ve heard conflicting stories, and I figured you hooligans have done this and can guide me as well.

Either way, if you tell me I’m stupid and can back it up, I will be appreciative.

Thank you!! And it’s almost dune time! (I’ve been saying that since the weekend after Easter) lol

  11. Time is going so slooooooow🙄 Had to work this week because I was sick most of last week. Family has been out there since Wednesday morning, I won’t get out there til Friday night.

    Let’s go to the dunes!🤙🏼
