  1. Yea I was hoping it would stop by friday night but couldn't be sure. I need to really stretch out to really sleep and my truck is small or I would have tried it. I can always try again at thanksgiving.

Nice thing about my crew cab cummins, lots of room.

  2. Great weekend out at the dunes. Found camp with my neighbor and his crew, very nice people. Friday was windy and I did not ever set up my tent, slept in my truck. Saturday was beautiful, got a couple good runs in, towed a few broken vehicles back to various camps, tried to help those in need as I've been there myself.

  3. I tried to tough it out. The wind storm drove me away. I was going to stay from wed to sat but the wind was so bad I couldn't walk my little dogs, their eyes were getting all sandy, and then my tent was filling with sand. The wind was blowing it under and over the vents on the sides. I was laying in my tent thursday night feeling the sand sprinkle down on my face and decided we had enough.

Guess I should have had a trailer. :(

I slept in my truck Friday night, but about 9 pm the wind mostly stopped, got warm today if you weren't in the shade.
  4. Well. My girl wasn't a huge fan of the dunes this last Friday, hope I can get her to try it again some time... Anyway, I'm thinking I'll make a solo trip Friday, anyone mind if I park at their camp? Let me know.

    Thanks

  5. Thanks for the ideas/heads up guys. Love the idea of camping with those with haulers, but gotta pay off my truck before jumping into another payment.

I got a small generator to power an electric heater in my tent as I know all too well it gets cold out there at night.

Hope to see some of y'all out there. Looking forward to the trip already.

  6. Wifey and I are planning a trip out to Dumont, her first trip, and my triumphant return since my last trip in 2008. sadly no toy hauler yet, so gonna be tenting it.

wondering if there are any tips from those who may have, or still do, tent camp at the D.

    Thanks much,

Hope to see some of ya out there soon.

  8. I have been plagued the last few builds with crank seal failures causing a lean condition and a holy piston. Lol. So I'm at an average of every 20-30 hours... However my old banshee ran for 4 hard seasons at Dumont without fail. Wish I kept that bike. Just watch compression and do cylinder leak down tests every season, or when in doubt, or bored, and you'll be fine.

Any big questions check out banshee.com
