However, if we all displayed a specialized OHV license plate on our automobiles, everyone would see how widespread and important off-roading is to state’s economy. Similar to "Save the Whales" and other Special Interest Plates , Assemblymember Joel Anderson (77th District) is starting a petition drive to authorize a specialized OHV license plate. California will produce the plate only if it receives an initial order of 7,500. To guarantee the success of this petition, we need to collect the names and addresses of 10,000 people willing to buy an OHV plate for their street vehicle. As of January 14th, 2986 names have been received. Richard Cheese Posted May 22, 2008 Share Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) :rant_on: too bad that the 4.5 million off-roaders cannot come together and de-rail the sierra club and the CBD for good.........we would be lucky if 10% of that...450,000 people, would care enough about their sport to call their legislators and representatives, show up to meetings, and behave halfway decently when off-roading ....personally, i think we should receive one for free since our registration just doubled.. sorry, but usually people with those type of plates often give a ratz azz about what is on their license plate, like a firefighter, or whatever else there is this will just give all the off-road douches the opportunity to flaunt being an off-roader without actually doing anything to help their sport.... and also, where does the money for that plate go??? maybe the same place our green sticker fees went a couple years ago....to help CLOSE riding trails down??? inthe socialistic state of CA, off-roaders get RAPED at every turn....off road vehicle registration.....entrance fees, excessive rules and regulation.....i can't see me personally, on top of paying over 500 dollars a year in registration for my diesel, shelling out another, what, 100 bucks? for this kind of plate...not in this economy sorry for raining on your parade Edited May 22, 2008 by richard cheese Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I would also add I'm pretty sure this idea did not come from him, but someone in the off road industry. There are not a lot of people IMO with good critical reasoning skills that would be willing to kill a 11 billion dollar industry in the state and some may actually support it if they knew what it it brings to the state. The 2 Legislators I'm working with our own issues know that Nevada is missing the boat as far as getting UTV's on the streets and the OHV industry as a whole especially in Rural Nevada. I am glad to see there is some common sense in Nevada, as there tends to be none, legislatively, here in CA. I am sure this idea came from someone in the offroad ind as well, but as far as politicians.or what i have seen at least...they all play both sides of the isle.....regardless of what their stance is . funny thing is....they change their stance toward whomever throws them the most schwag....like a freekin dog beggin for a cookie did i mention that prostitute and politician are synonyms??? in the last couple of months, our whores, errrrr politicians have PROVEN to me that the people's vote doesnt count any more...it is no longer a govt of the people for the people by the people.....its for whoever has the largest amount of cash We have legislators here in Ca that have NEVER thrown a leg over ANY type of motorized vehicle other than their car, who feel it is in THEIR best interest to draft bills in an attempt to regulate who can ride what ATV....without the collaboration of ANY pro off-road group.. that's the typical schlacking we off-roaders get here in the state of CA from our PRESTIGIOUS lawmakers. and Im sure that the klowns in Sacramento arent aware of the 11billion dollar per year figure either, or they wouldn't treat their cash cow they way they currently do. With as much freebies they get off on handing out to the poor and underpriviledged, you think they would know where some of the money is generated from..... some of the problem are the multi-conglomerate corps too, like honda....I pointed out awhile back on here that the automotive side of that huge corporation actually donated a large sum to the Sierra Club a couple years ago........hmmmmmmmm anyway..good luck with your off-road program in Nevada, Cause in Ca, with all the bullshit that flys around here, it's hard to even know who/what were up against...and thats BEFORE all the backroom dealing goes on :freakin_nuts: :freakin_nuts: Edited May 22, 2008 by richard cheese Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We have been trying to get these on the streets for almost 2 years now. It is really sad when you live in a free society (so they tell me) you now have to find a law that allows you to do something. When you can't find a law that does not say you can't do this or that, some unelected official will IMO miss apply the law from others areas so he can say no.
