  1. So my brother and i were cruising by what I like to call "Cinder Cone Valley" and we stopped on the opposite side of the valley from the Cinder Cone Dune (see picture, looks like a cinder cone to me) to pick up some trash (two weeks after Halloween, could not believe how much trash there was). My 12 year old son Chase (5' 9") decided to run to the top of Cinder Cone Dune, first along the ridge and then down the face and then back up from the bottom! That is one of the steepest dunes in Dumont... I questioned whether he would even be able to do it. He sprinted to the top unbelievably fast, I thought to myself...it is a human comp hill! I wish I would have video'd it to get a time on the hill climb. He challenged everyone to a race but no one took him up on it. Okay, so I know there are some athletic duners out there as not all of us are beer bellied motor-heads so he challenges anyone to a human hill climb. Just video it and post it up, we should be able to get a time from the video. The next time we go, I'll make sure to get his climb on video. Who knows, maybe eventually we could have a championship race event to add to the Thanksgiving activities each year.

  2. I can't believe how empty it was for Thanksgiving this year. Halloween had a way bigger turnout. Oh well, we still had a great time. It got chilly at times, but overall the weather cooperated. I think I saw the helicopter maybe once, but didn't hear of any big accidents so that's good. The dunes were is great shape I thought. We layed down some great dunes runs and even got a couple in with the Hotrails guys. Hoping they join us for the Buggy Roundup. Comp Hill was fun Friday and Saturday night watching Speed Racer Mike whoop up on a bunch of cars. Man that car is fast. Friday was hopping over there but Saturday it seemed like everyone had already gone home. My buddy Brian had friends that brought their bouncy house over there. Thought that was pretty funny. It was intended for the adults but a bunch of kids took it over. Some quick buggy run highlights. More pics to come...

  3. I'm not sure who it is who hosts the event, but it's pretty cool to see another group also do a buggy roundup. It's the 5th Annual Silver Lake Long Travel Sand Car Roundup in MIchigan. It looks pretty big. I bet we could eventually get that many buggies at our roundups at Dumont. Speaking of, we should set a date soon for next season. I'm thinking mid December again. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article/20140724/MICHIGANDER04/307240007/Dune-buggies-from-around-U-S-flock-Silver-Lake-State-Park?nclick_check=1
