Nah...jonesing to get some rips in. Nice lines you guys made. Only been out 2x this season, and it'll be over by the time I get back to Vegas...if not already.

Skinny pedal is on the right. Thanks for sharing. Missing D from SLC right now...

Thanks Pete! Appreciate the response!

Ventured out to D from 2/13-2/18/23, water heater was working fine. On 2/16 it decided to go AWOL. Fuses all check out. Not sure what else to check. Unit is a 2018 Jayco Talon 320T. Currently I'm out of state, so unfortunately unable to provide any further info until I return. Any tips/tricks/guidance is much appreciated!

There's ways to curb the speeders, but I think that those of us that are regulars to Dumont, are generally excited about this. Hopefully this project will be smooth, in all senses of the word, and people will be respectful of the posted speed limits. For those that choose to go out in the dead of summer, and low & behold get stuck while it's 125*, here's a tip: bring plenty of water and a charged cell phone.

I think this is LONG overdue!

The wind blows!!! 🙂

Hope you're as lucky as my wife was after losing her iPhone at Comp on Friday night. After disabling it and using the "if found" message, an honest duner got her phone back to her. Good luck!

Got the spam as well.

Well, hopefully if someone honest found it, and they check out this site, they'll return them. Good luck!

Boy, you guys are lucky everything went ok. Dumont is NOT the place to be in the summer. Sounds like you guys were suffering from heat exhaustion. It gets worse from there. Glad you all got back safely.

Yeah, I was wondering why its been so quiet here. Everyone's out hoarding.

Yeah, this topic has been brought up before. It's about educating people on proper dune etiquette. Too many people think just because you're off the beaten path, it's a free for all. No consideration for others.

Wow, Dumont was a "hot spot"...literally! Got out there Monday 10/21 to a cool 88*. Nice to see so many people back at it, but "watch out for that guy" everywhere you go. Whoever erected the swingset...beautiful job! It was another point of interest to check out. Comp was busy Thurs, Fri, and Sat night especially. Lots of people in costume, and lots of rides decorated. Sunday, the mass exodus was insane. Took 3 1/2hrs to get from camp to the pay station! Total cluster. W blew all day. Garbage everywhere. Dumont needs a little TLC..

I have brought it up at every meeting for the last 3 years. Nothing can be changed until Dumont gets a "Business Plan" and Katerina has said that she doesn't have the staff to write one. The RRAC that approved the fee structure no longer has enough members to conduct any business, so they are not an option. I have brought up other ways to get it done but they have not been acceptable to the BLM management so we stay at a stalemate.
The biggest issue's that I have heard is a second car (no toys or camping ability) and a day use pass, if you guys have any other ideas let me know and I will bring them up.
Do not forget that there is a public meeting after the Cleanup on 3-14-2000 from 11:00 to noon at Dumont Dunes this is a time that anyone can bring up any concerns, likes and dislikes, and requests for information, any specific information please post on here so the BLM staff can bring it to the meeting.
Sandemon, can you clarify the date for the public meeting after the clean-up please? You wrote the year 2000, and wondering if it's supposed to be 2020?

That's some pretty sketchy tie-down technique...

If you want to camp on the backside of the dunes, head north on 95, pass Valley View on your left (you have to look off in the distance for the green street sign), then you'll see the BLM's "Big Dunes" sign. About a mile or so north is where you'll make the left. It's a nice(r) graded gravel road in. Drive in about 3-4 miles in, and you'll see a wooden fence post structure...make a left there, and you'll have no problem finding a decent-ish camp spot.
If you want to camp on the front side, make the left on Valley View, and go about 2 miles or so. You should see a dirt road on your right heading into the dune area. Forget that one, and continue on VV for about another 1/2 mile or so, and make a right at the next dirt road access. Wind your way in, and find your special place. It's not that bad, it's just really silty in some spots. You shouldn't get stuck, unless you want to. Good luck.

You've got to be kidding! Someone stole it? Why can't people leave stuff alone?

Thanks all. I tried out the snow mtn. exit. easy in and out, but NO Diesel! Luckly we had enough to get to Pahrump and filled up
Ahhh, you didn't say you were looking for diesel. I thought you wanted to put fuel in the hauler. I usually top off the diesel elsewhere, before hooking up the hauler.
-
There aren't many, if any, gas stations in the NW that I'd take a chance pulling into with a toy hauler. If you head out to Dumont using 95N, you can use the Snow Mountain Smoke Shop gas station on the Paiute Indian Reservation. Easy in and out, plus they have propane.

I've never seen any ATV rentals at Dumont.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for those of coming from Vegas or through the Tecopa route, all is well. It's coming from the Baker side that's jacked. Anyone hear different?
