  1. Sandsprite IV with Calif. Title for sale. Rail is in the process of being converted from VW to injected alcohol turbo ford. Most of the conversion is complete. The car has disc brakes, Prowler shifter, many extra parts (spare engines and trans parts), and wheels and sand tires that are in excellent condition. Also included is a new 930 stub axle kit with Wilwood brakes and all major parts to construct a mid travel rear suspension and a partially completed chassis with new suspension seats and almost new wheels and sand tires. There is also a new pedal assembly and new H.D. Rack and pinion steering box. This is a package deal that includes a lot of stuff (2 spare engines, 3 spare transaxles, and a lot of other related parts) I will also include a few 20 foot sticks of tubing to make it easier for you to finish up. All of the listed items for $3000 OBO Trades possible. I do have some pictures that I can send if needed, just PM or text me. There is enough parts to almost complete two cars. Thanks Don 702-510-4387

  3. If you have or know someone who has an eprom programmer, you can find the proper data on the internet. The 1227747 ECM is one of the most hacked units and there is a lot of info available on it. It is easy to reprogram for modded engines. I have been using one for years on a 383 stroker and just modified it for flash programming / data logging with an EBL add-on board. Big D
  4. There were a few people I knew that had these cars. Most of them were probably in your dad's group. If I can remember correctly, these were called Keene Cars and came from Keene Sports or something like that in or around Bakersfield, Ca, probably Keen, Ca. I think the frames were made for them by San Fernando Buggy and looked like a rear engine version of a sand sprite 4. I never saw a blown Keene car but I also never saw one that didn't run on methanol. They didn't have a cooling system, the VW was cooled by the methanol from the inside. I believe most of them were 2442 cc and if they weighed more than 600 lbs it would not be by much. The Bakersfield Boys really put on a show when they showed up a Dumont. They were like a sand rail drill team. The Vegas group could put on a good show too, one guy who I can't remember his name but at the time had a gas station on Sahara and Teddy Dr. was one to watch. Wheelie down comp hill, grab the steering brake just before the bottom and wheelie back up with the front wheels in the air the entire time. As far as pictures go, the only one I ever took was of Chuck Bartolo and I gave it to him. Randy Black the casino owner and condo king (Rock Springs Vista) Was on the front cover of Dunebuggy and Hot VW mag doing a no-hands wheelie up a hill at Coral Pink dunes in a Keene Car. This was probably around 1982 or 1983. Ahh, yes the good old days at Dumont. Big D
  5. Thats the Spring mnt. youth camp, Many years ago it used to be located at the end of Lovell Canyon Road but was moved to it's current location. You can drive to it by taking the Deer Creek Road and then taking the Angel Peak turn. Don
