  1. b4 dirt there already is a coalition of manufacturers i think its called corva

    don,

you are right i do not know all the ins and outs although i am willing to learn. the bugs you mentioned as i said earlier what if the groups took the time to study there enviromentle study couldnt it be possible that they mislead the government on there enviromentle study ?? and would not punching holes in that study also cause them to take another look or allow these groups to pursue a case to open up even a piece of it.

Im only using kelso as an example although i must say it looks like it could be awsom riding area !

and one of my main points i was trying to convey. dune rocket nailed it combine and attack if we just try to hold ground the comprises make us lose ground. call this thinking out loud to ellicit a response from people who do know.

and pose questions try to answer the most obvious question . which is why there not banding together for a common intrest. or at least question themselves as to there method of defending our riding areas.

  2. gentlemen

i always thought the best defence is a good offence. While i completely agree the necessity for fodd and asa

i just wonder if pressing some issues instead of just fighting for whats left would not be a viable alternative to help hold or expand the dune areas we already have ?? we defend whats left and of course it turns into a compramise to satisfy both parties. but eco freaks attack and attack and attack which when we defend goes to a compramise and we lose another little piece.

if we adopted there policies maybe we could opena small piece and so on attack attack attack and force a reversal . cause the eco freaks to defend and we gain a piece in a compramise. instead of losing a piece. I am certainly not a lawyer, but i think my views consider some merit.

We the people do have all of Dumont and we have to constantly worry about closure .

However, for a different view point. we already hold this ground so to speak. if we moved forward and for example went after a place like kelso dunes would that not cause the ecos to have to defend there stance on the closure. It leaves dumont , in a way , out of there focus cause they have to fight us off on another issue. The greenies seem not to care about odds they attack and take everything all the way up to the fedral level.

Think about it , they have not yet got a piece of dumont but they have taken all the land around it. Wouldnt getting our own enviromentle studies and filing our own lawsuits against the government for denying access to public lands wake them up to the fact that we are asking for rights to our own public lands ??

i read an article in sand sports where the asa had caught the greenies filing suits about the milkvetch with partial enviromentle reports that were inconclusive and caught them downright lying on some of there documents. end result was which this is by no means exact it wound up as another compramise and they were able to keep there closures.

it seemsthat pooling recourses from the several orginisations to attack in general would be a much better system than splintered groups all trying to stop the greenies from taking peices of everything and start trying to reopen areas and take peices back ???

possibly even with all recourses combined we might not still be as large as the greenies but maybie we could make a big enough dent to slow them down ???

by appearances the way the areas are being defended is constantly a loss of more riding area. we claim victory cause we saved a piece but is it not still a loss of ground ??

my view is the only way to preserve glamis and dumont is to start trying to take land back. even if it takes rallying other groups and starts with taking land back ( as example around dumont) no its not sand related but it possibly would provoke other groups to help pitch in to help open it up and get them to help pledge support to help open up other closed dunes.

by appearance if the greenies used inconcusive reports and falsified docs to get a closure once. chances are they have done it before. just some thoughts............................................ :bump:

I also agree. Why isn't the manufactures of atv's fighting the "war"? This is only going to stop sales and effect their bottom line too. Maybe DDR can get involved and bring this to the attention of the manufactures and show them they are going to loose sales. Only then will they see are point when money is showed as a loss. Just a thought.

  3. Anyone else having problems with their Verizon service. I know myself and a lot of people I know up here in the Hi-Desert are without Verizon service and have been since yesterday afternoon. :blury:

I have service. But, I can tell you, when a cell company offers a special and every one runs there the service suffers!

  4. Sorry to agree with everyone else on here but DAMMMMM!

Ours went out on out new house just after we moved in. We had the insurance for it and it still cost us $600 but we opted for a 75 gallon over the 40 gallon. Plus there were some upgrades that were required by law (so he says)...

    Straps too.

  5. Sorry to hear about your loss. To respond to your question about the chocolate lab though, pick up a penny saver. We got our white lab out of it from a house in Phelan that had a litter by mistake. No papers but both parents on the premises. There is always a bunch in that area. I think we waited like 3 weeks before we saw something that caught our eye. Just thought I would help out a fellow high desert local, good luck in your search. And remember when you do get a new puppy and go to get the shots, ask for the puppy package. It saves you a bunch of money and they never offer it but most places up here have it. And once again sorry for the loss of your freind.

Thanks buddy! I usually go to the feed place and give them myself. They are $6 I think.

  6. sorry to hear about the passing of a good friend, i cant think of a time in my life that i didn't own a dog. its hard at first but, just remember all the great times she gave you and your family

    All Dogs Go To Heaven

I do. I have an older daughter and I thought "maybe" she would see a grand kid. Sigh. My child hood dog did. Saw my daughter.

  7. How sad~ sorry to hear about your loss.........

Gosh, my dogs are like my kids. I greet them when I get home before anyone else. But again, they're at the door waiting for me........

Are you going to get a new puppy?

Ya. Family wants one. Not sure if I will do shepherd again though (no other reason but not over her). Maybe a chocolate lab? If you know of any, let me know

  8. Sorry to hear about your loss. My wife and I have decided to put down 2 of our dogs when we get back from vacation. They are 15 years old and have just taken a turn for the worse in the last few weeks. It will be hard to do, but it's harder to watch them suffer.

Pets just become so much a part of a family's life! And to shed some light on why the dog went into the bathroom, well dogs, when they are dying will find a corner, dark area or somewhere where there are no people or other animals around and they will just lay down and pass away without anyone watching. It's their way of privacy in their last hours or minutes.

I put down my child hood dog many years ago and it was hard. Went to Vet and he died in my arms. Sad!

Kinda firgured that's why she did it. Which makes me think she was gone 3-4hrs before we noticed. During that time I keep trying to remember to look to see where she was and got busy. The kids found her which made it harder on everyone. Blood from her mouth didn't make it easier neither. I assume it was from her stomach?

  9. It's amazing how your pet becomes so much of the family. I remember how I felt when my dog ran away. That empty feeling is the worst- looking at the toys and where they laid down at night..

Sorry she passed but in time you will be better and remember all the good times you had with her!!!

They are like family. Funny how they bark and we know what they are trying to say after awhile...lol. Ex-wife used to call her my "furry wife". She loved me...lol

  10. Nope, I've got an 05 GMC with a 6.6 Duramax and I do get around 12mpg towing. I don't drive fast when towing, I keep it around 60-65mph and don't put my foot going up hills or from a dead start. I got 16mpg plus towing my boat into Vegas last night, less than a half of tank of gas to get here.

I used to get 11-12mpg also towing the trailer I had. Without a chip/programmer

  11. I haven't towed on a higher setting, as the manufacturer highly recommends nothing above the 40 hp tuen for towing more than 4k......... but, I have noticed, that when I do drive like a grandma, which isn't very much (i actually had enough self-control to do it for about 2 tanks) I did notice about a 1---1.5 mpg increase. not that significant in my book when the fun factor, and the black smoke into the ricer sitting at just the right place on your passenger side, is done away with

    but 12 towing........

    is that a 7.3 gunz??

Hypertech viedo says you can safely tow factory weight in all settings.

  12. yeah i got the bigger cooler and it hasnt gone above 185 yet, so iam excited, iam going to get the shift points adjusted this next week, i want second to hit just a bit harder and a bit later than it does.

I got the 6.0 cooler and your right, it is huge!

  13. Well, I may be an adult. But, the dog was the best dog I ever owned (bought her when she was 7 weeks old). She was a sable red german shepherd. She was 6 years old. She came in from in the back yard yesterday and layed down. After a brief stay on the tile floor, she got up and went into the bathroom (to what we now know) to die. Not sure why. She did have some medical issues with keeping weight on (she was 5-10 lbs under weight) and we faught the baddle for a year maybe now. I guess pure breed shepherds have this issue the vet said. She was on meds for it.

Anyway, a few people know but thought she was owned the respect she gave me to post this. When the quad business started it was called after her "Scout". So, she did mean that much to me.

Thanks for letting me vent!

    R.I.P Scout.
