  1. is he having problems with his tranny??? is he gonna make it to pissmo?

    :mc_smiley:

    I'm working on it. It's at the dealer as we speak. They put me in front of 3 people to get it in. Insurance company wants a partial tear down.

  2. lol 1320 ask him where is tranny is ................................. :grin::ban-split: :mc_smiley: :mc_smiley:

    I help him out (made his DB faster) and he rips me... :mc_smiley: :woo_hoo: I didn't realize how heavy his Dodge was when I pulled him home. He said it wasn't heavy.

  3. homework......why dont you qoute some numbers then? How many private operators that watch there bottom line use each? I think youll find that private commercial operators largely use cummins (ie dodges) because it saves them money that they get to spend on there lives, not there trucks. Not that a goverment agency cares about the bottom line, hell they have tax dollars to fix them. You do know that the cummins is available in the larger trucks right? Besides that when was the last time you saw a firetruck with a lot of miles? Or tow something? Or an ambulance tow anything? I see railroad service trucks towing all the time too. Despite that you should now that goverment vehicles are chosen based 99% on the deal, not what they get , cause no one knows a dam thing about them.

    On the other responce, about tow trucks......ah yea, did you notice that them big fords tend to rattle like a cummins? The repo guys use fords mostly caus ethey are quieter. Although its funny, I know some repo companies that have lots of trucks, (fords and chevies) and they call me for the big items. I go out about twice a month for big things.

    Its funny that the cummins is available in the medium duty trucks but the light duty owners argu against it.

    You really need to get informed. I think someone else already said the same thing I did. :jester:

  4. I am going to add my opinion cuz you all know opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one but nobody wants to hear them. I love my Ford, I also would love to have a Chevy or Dodge. The Ford was what I found a deal on so I took it. And I have been mostly happy with it since I got it. All trucks have there problem areas. Mine was a weak tranny. But then again the truck has had 39's on it most of its life and wasn't geared. After the new tranny and re-gearing the truck had been issue free except for some maintenence items.

    For us, its was the room in the crew cab that sold us and the price too.

  5. lol, that was great!

    yes you see a lot of fords, they sell a lot of them. You dont see many being used for business, for hauling, or with really big trailers. Some but not a lot.

    Mostly, older retirees that were probably ford people there whole life pulling the 30-40 ft 5th wheel, probably 10k miles a year, maybe 60-100k miles total on the rig before they stop and sell.

    Are you kidding? :mc_smiley: From the fire dept, to the ambulance trucks, Rail Road. Ford is used. Do your home work... :DDRrocks:

  6. I cant believe this is still going. They are all great trucks. Most will work just fine for 96% of all people. When you see a big trailer though , you more eften then not see a dodge in front of it.

    The real question...do you think your truck can pull that? BTW, Vegas to dumont, and back home, then back to the same station to fill up, 20 gallons going easy it. Last trip was 25 gallons but it only took an hour and 20 minutes each way.

    Not true. Not even close. I have sat at the signal (Bear Valley) and watched 8 out of 10 trucks pulling a trailer is a Ford F250/F350 :mc_smiley:

  7. I currently own a 2500HD / 2001. I could not wait to get one. So I bought it before it was availible with the Duramax. I have the 8.1 gasser. It has just over 100,000 miles. I want a diesel bad. I have been really researching this topic and I think each truck has its own pluses and minuses. Chevy has always had a better ride than Dodge or Ford. The Dodge and Ford have proven engines. The Chevy has the Allison trans. If it is pure torque you want, the Dodge has them all beat. (You cannot run an auto trans behind their H.O. motor because the motor will grenade the trans. You have to run the 6 speed manual.) Izusu has been making commercial diesels for a very long time. So.........................for me it's going to be a Chevy with Duramax and Allison. I almost "settled" for the Cummins wrapped in crap, what was I thinking?????? :offtopic::laughing::dunno: :dunce: :slap:

    :laughoff::laughoff::ninja:

  8. put this in map quest it will show yous shortest time or shortest distance witch ever you choose : Little Sahara National Recreation Area (national recreation area), Utah, United States :

    this should give you some help

    :icon_twisted: 8hrs and 539 miles

  9. i must have missed this truck war i guess, but im stuck in this ford for awhile tho so we'll see how the next 30,000miles turn out, i know my 1500gmc is sitting outside next to the ford not leaking a drop and never been on a towtruck in 100,000+miles except for one time because of operator error(fried the ecu playing with the predator tuner) the reason i bought this ford was because i plan on buying a toyhauler that would push the limits on my gmc, and it never did anything to me to deserve it and everyone i know that owns a diesel has a ford except 2 people and they have a cummins and a duramax. but the cummins and duramax guy dont say much about their trucks and the ford guys couldnt stop talkin about thier fords so i figured they must be a really good truck, apparently they have shortman syndrome? dont get me wrong so far i like my 4door long bed 6.0diesel f350 but compared to what? my reg cab short bed 5.3gas 1500gmc? i dont have much to compare too. but it gets me to work and out riding so far and thats all that matters! :icon_twisted:

    We have all been there. Next time maybe research it more. It took me six months to find my truck. I didn't want the 6.0l. Everytime I called a lot on an ad, it was sold. Finally, I found it and drive down within 30min and bought it.

  10. COME ON UP, Strength is in the size of your camp :freakin_nuts: here on big week end's. If you want to come up on Easter or any other let me know I'll leave a spot open for Ya

    Holidays are to crazy for me. How do you get there from 92308, California? Can you map quest it for me?

  11. i bought a used 03 6.0 4door long bed powerstroke like 64,000 miles and it already had an oil leak, the door switches were messed up it always thought the doors were open :freakin_nuts: . i probally would have got a duramax but they want so much damn money for em and coming from being a gmc guy i didnt like the ford at first and im still really not impressed, i put a banks 6gun and 4in exhaust and just about everyones takin bets on how long till my 6.0 blows up. now as far as chevy or dodge diesels i cant say much cuz im new to diesel stuff. but i just wanted to say i own a ford and maybe bias to chevy but im not really impressed with ford so far.

    I have owned Chevy's since I was 17yrs old. This is my first Ford. In my opinion, you should have done your home work and got the 7.3l like I did. It's not as fast as the Dodge and Chevy. The Ford 6.0 would have keep in the race. But, as for reliablity, 7.3 is your answer! :dunno:

  12. Nice to hear I am not the only one with a circus,maybe oneday we should get them together and see how crazy it can get :banghead: It can be exhausting,but it is worth the laughs,and memories,and the stories to tell.

    Didn't the alarm do this when you left the house? If not, maybe you can figure out why not and keep it from happening again :laughing:

  13. i think you made the right decision on the 7.3.....freekin bulletproof. why ford ventured away from that motor........ :drinkbeer:

    They wanted better MPG I assume. They should have just fine tuned that one. Cheaper I would have assumed :dance:

  14. Its funny, if you own a ford or chevy alot of miles is 70k? 100K 150k???I don t get, I hear chevy/ford guys say it all the time...."I had an 03 with 90k miles and no problems, now I have an 06" THat was still a new truck! My 98 dodge has over 200K and pulls a 50ft trailer regularly, and will continue to do so for atleast the next 10 years.

    That was funny , and the battle for second continues......LOL

    I don't think mine has a lot of miles. I probably will park it after the loan is paid off and use it to tow only. I truley hope I get 300k mile from. So, I have 2/3 of its life left and plan on getting every ounce out of it :laughoff:

  15. they are pretty freekin expensive. my friend used to be the used car salesman at the local chevy dealership. he knew i wanted a D max, and would call me every time they had a good trade in that would still be under warranty, and would also qualify for the gm certified used car program.

    i wanted a long bed, but all the longbeds had been ridden hard and put up wet with many miles on them (over 100k) i wasn't ready to dump 20k into a +100k truck.

    even though I have put almost 40k miles on it in 1.5 years, it still wholesales for close to 5 grand more than what I currently owe on it.

    The one I bought did have 105k miles. But, I got the extended warranty for 2 yrs. I also paid under retail for it. I think it was $4-5k under. It was a 2003 for $21k. I looked around and wanted the 7.3l while it's not the fastest on the street and the 6.0 would have keep me in the race per say. I wanted the reliability of the 7.3l I looked for 6 months and found what I wanted.

  16. DURAMAX VID

    can your scrapin' for a 3rd place finish, washin the smoke outta yer hair dodge dothat???

    :no_no:

    :flipoff:

    DIDN'T THINK SO

    :drinkbeer::laughing: :dance: :slap:

    (.......................AND THE BATTLE RAGES ON (IN BOB'S HEAD) :ban-split::slap::laughoff::laughoff:

    Pretty cool! I actually owned a 2006 LBZ diesel for 24hrs! :flipoff: Long story. Didn't want the payment and got a used Ford and trailer for the same payment. Salesman was cool. He delivered to my house and picked it up. I did tip him $200 for his time. The truck was fast to be honest. PLENTY of power.

  17. my neighbor must have the best of luck

    he has owned 2 fords from the 03-06, and hasn't had 1 problem with either one. one has over 70k on it

    and the newest one has less than 10k

    maybe he did the dmax swapout.

    ..................and the battle rages on (in boob's mind :banghead: )

    I agree... :laughoff:

    Bob will see this tomorrow when he gets back :think:
