  1. He has been there this seson..I texted him to ask if he is going next weekend.

    Where are you camping Paul?

Probably by Bathroom 9. Arriving Friday night or early Sat. We'll be by ourselves so would love to hook up for some rides.

  2. I'll be out for Prez Day. Yor best bet is to look at Danny's car. That is the closest you will get to your car. There were three built together and yours and Danny's are 2 of the 3. I haven't seen Danny out all season.

  3. This is the last V8Rail to be built. The frame is 90% completed. I also have a 434 Fuel Injected Small Block, 570 hp x 570 lbs torque that was just gone thru by CBM so I could sell with confidence.

V8 Rail Frame, 1 3/4" DOM, 8 New King Shocks (4 Coil Overs, 5 Bypass Triple Tube, paid $5,000), aluminum panels, spindles, rear uprights, lower a-arms, tabbed/mounts for seats & belts, $12,500/offer

434 Fuel Injected SBC with Custom Air Intake, CBM re-fresh, $11,500/offer

I have put together a powerpoint with more details and pics for anyone interested. Just PM me your email address and I will send it.

    Paul

  4. Unfortunately, we can relate. We were there 4 years ago at New Years weekend. Wind was ripping. My wife woke me up at 2am saying she couldn't breathe. I quickly loaded up and we were on the road an hour later.

She felt better after we got out of the area into cleaner air. After we got home, it got worse and I took her to the hospital. She was in bad shape. Had to stay the night and received extensive respiratory therapy. She's had asthma ever since. Just like your son, she got bronchitis the next day.

Now, we look at the weather for wind forecast. I like intellicast.com and look at the hourly forecast. She does not sit around the camp fire (smoke). Don't stay long at comp hill or congested areas due to dust. Don't camp in congested or dusty areas... we try to camp in the rocky areas.

She carries recovery inhalers, wears head socks often.

Luckily, we're still able to enjoy our family hobby.

Hope you find a way too!

  5. thats the way those production companies work...tell you one thing, then the "director" gets all artsy-fartsy and changes his mind :dunno:

i find it comical that they placed the solar panels on your car, implying that those little panels would be able to power that car.....

glad it worked out for you though.

The setting for the film is circa 2100. It is not believable that the panels could power the car today, but the film implies another 100 years of innovation. Consider what has been invented in the last 100 years.

  6. We completed phase 1 two weeks ago in Glamis for 3 days. We had a super time! The crew was super to work with.

I was able to take pictures, but can't post them or use them for my business until the finished product is released.

Phase 2 includes running higher speeds on the dry lake bed at El Mirage shot from helicopter.

The mods to my car were very minor. I mounted two solar panels to the roof. They covered up logos like King on the shocks, Momo on the steering wheel, etc. That's it. The motor is very concealed and the look worked perfect for their objective.

I drove 100% of the time. They did have the actor that I doubled for start a scene sitting in my parked car, exiting, and walking away. That's the only time my butt wasn't in the driver's seat.

This was the most hours I've spent in the car. The first day was over 8 hours in the car!

We shoot Phase 2 right before T-day, probably on my way to Dumont for the holiday.

Overall, great experience! Glad I was called.

  7. What is the latest with this?? :beercheers:

We reached an agreement. The plan is to shoot in early October. Car mods to be made at my local shop, MetalCraft Motorsports. I'll be driving the car in most of the footage. They do need to get some shots with the talent, but that will be on flat land... nothing technical. My car is an automatic... anyone (almost) can drive it without compromising the powertrain.

My family is looking forward to the experience and I am able to capture my own footage for marketing purposes.

  8. If your buggy is that front engine thing you may be in luck. you're buggy is semi futuristic-different looking. They would have to do very little mods to it and I think you may be a good match.

FWIW.......I almost had them talked into $2500.00. By that time I decided it was not worth it for me. 800miles total. gas and diesel money. 3 days in dez plus the 4 trips to a modifier. About a weeks worth of time really with about $500.00 in exspenses made me decide it STILL was not even close to worth it.

He called me asking about resheldue but I said I was not interested. He MIGHT go 2.5K so theres some info for ya. :D

Thanks for the info! It looks like we'll get something worked out. I've got some "different" (new technology) looking solar panels that will work great on the car. And some other contributions that will serve the objective too.

You're right, my car does not need much for cosmetic mods. The motor is very concealed for example.

  9. I made the first real trip with my new car. All guys trip and my "crew chief" Scott of Metal Craft. We had a couple of electrical issues with the car... fuses popping and a POS fuse block that will get replaced immediately.

The car overall did very well. Great ride and handling. I will lower the gear ratio too. Be back for T-day.

  10. Thanks Dunefreak! Here are some pics in sand trim. I just got back from Oregon tonight. It was the first trip on the car. Only issue was a frozen shifter cable. I was able to modify it and get by for the trip. Other than that, the car was flawless.

I will now turn my attention to some minor things that aren't quite right and be ready for the winter. Still need to get suspension dialed in too.

Looking forward to about 5-6 trips to Dumont this winter!

  11. Everything evolves in steps/increments. Glamis did not become the freak show that it is overnight... it took years for the increments to transpire.

Stripper poles, etc. is just a step/increment in that direction. What would be next?

Before I had kids, I didn't really care and enjoyed the spectacle of Glamis. Now that I do have kids and have matured, we have pretty much stopped going to Glamis just for this reason. The comprehensive element of Glamis (meaning that the activities that go on at Glamis attract people that do not enjoy and respect our sport of duning/offroading... they are only their to "party" and all that that entails without the close watch of authroities) is not what I want my family subjected to... at least on holiday weekends. Thousands of people travel from So Cal to Glamis (3-4 hours) without sand toys just for this purpose. Vegas is half this distance to Dumont and this would be just the beginning. Sure this same type of people go to Dumont now, but the numbers and percentages are still low compared to Glamis.

My point of all this is.... stripper poles would be the next step/increment in that direction and I don't like it.

When people ask why I stopped going to Glamis very much, my reply has always been that Dumont is more family oriented and I felt safer with my kids on quads there than in the unpredictability of Glamis crowds.

I'll fight to keep it that way!
