A piston, rings and gasket set are cheap insurance on the "new" style four strokes. If you let it go, then your going to have to replace a whole lot more than that. The Honda piston has way less skirt area than the Yamaha. The lighter the piston the faster/quicker it revs. I think a compression check on occasion is a good idea. It is really hard to tell when these bikes are getting weak. It is not like the two stoke that gets tired. Also, sometimes the symptoms of a tired or weak four stroke are valve train related and have nothing at all to do with the cylinder.

California Vehicle code #38310 defines "PRIMA FACI SPEED LIMIT"
No motor vehicle shall exceed 15 mph within 50 ft of any campground, campsite or concentration of people
or animals. :chev_bowtie:
F.Y.I. The American Sand Association has speed limit signs you can purchase that you can place around your camp. They also have the ASA logo and the safety buggie logo. They can be purchased online at there web store.

The entire dune system is a great Rhino trail. They will go just about anywhere. I actually worked my way up the backside of Comp and crested it, and down we came. We went with a group of bikes and quads and we could go almost everywhere they did.

The level of happiness my two little rat dogs exude when I come home from work makes me happy.
Sitting on the Veranda at Havasu watching the sun set over the lake with my family, friends, and an ice cold one makes me happy.
Launching my Hallett early on a hot summer morning and hearing 500hp ring throught the marina makes me happy.
Knowing I can really F things up and at least my wife still loves me makes me happy.
Driving from Riverside towards Vegas with every wanna be a-hole in the world (Knowing I am turning off at Baker) makes me happy.

We will be at Gordon's Well for the rest of the year. Actually just T-Day and New Years. After that it's MLK Day at Glamis for Clean-Up weekend. Then the rest of our trips will be Dumont.

We had a 21" Wanderer Wagon. Towed it with a 1500 4wd Suburban. Seems like a good combination, right? Wrong!!! Very unstable. Needed sway away like a mofo. Even with torsion bars it wasn't pretty. I think it is an SUV thing.

CMY has it right. The Firestone RideRight kit was a breeze on my 2500HD. I did the bags, onboard compressor, air tank, wiring and plumbing in less than an afternoon. Would have been faster but

For those of you lucky enough to be at Dumont this weekend, (I will be visiting Gordon's Well) be advised that the "Etnies 2 Wheel Tour" will end up at Dumont Dunes. Starring such riders as Seth Enslow, Twitch, Brian Deegan and Tim Ferry. WTF? I go three staright weekends (minus Halloween) and then miss the big show.

Oddly enough, it was #86 that got his package blasted!

and i doubt that trailer is only 5300lbs, I have a 21ft and it is almost 6dry
I was being generous. I really could not tell which manufacturer it is so I used specs from Eclipse RV. They make the "Attitude" line. It kinda looks like that brand.

Honda Ridgeline tow capacity = 5,000lbs
26" front sleeper toybox = 5,300lbs dry weight
Perfect example of "the tail wagging the dog"???

Yeah I think you are way off. No really, some guy that is a Dumont regular put the pole and mailbox there a while back and he has continued to rebuild it. He is actualy on DDR, but I don't remember his screen name. Something like FE135 something. :mc_smiley:
It still gets thrashed even after our attempts to repair it too.
Well last year when you guys put up that "Fortress", I would have bet that no one would be able to wreck it. But humans never cease to amaze me with there ability to destroy things. Once again, it was full of trash, and it looks like someone tore the door off of it. Or blew it off.
When you say a while back how long ago are you talking?
-
are you sure it was the north pole???????
Well, I'm sure it was the "North Pole" but maybe those young ladies just saw a pole and some primal urge took over!
-
I may be way off but the "North Pole" is or was actually an old mining claim holder. At one time it had the claim papers inside of a small capped piece of 2" pipe that was welded to another length of pipe that was set in the ground. Since then the "Pole" has had many different incarnations. I think this one is the sturdiest of them all. This past weekend I saw 3 young women (late teens / early twenties) all hanging off of it.
SPEED LIMITS

Thats about as fast as my fat a** can ride too!
F.Y.I. We posted the ASA speed limit signs on the north and south ends of camp and 9 out of 10 people actually slowed down. It was a great success. I would recommend to everyone. And the money goes to ASA.
