  1. We thought about that. Mark has to get the hitch installed and discovered a couple issues with the rear of the truck, when he got the air bags installed. He's going to get that fixed and we're going to hold off on going to Dumont. Everything happens for a reason and we're not going to push it. I may ask for something extra or $$ off the hitch install since they screwed up. Hopefully we can swing a Thanksgiving trip to Dumont. If not, then we'll go on an off weekend! I can't wait to get that fifth wheel though! It will be so nice! :)

  2. We were supposed to go to Halloween, but probably won't make it. We just found out this week that our new fifth wheel is running late on schedule. I don't know if Eclipse RV ran late or Johnnie Walker ordered it late. Sad because no one called us. We stopped by Eclipse while we were in California to see it on the line. They hadn't even started production on it! Grrr!!!

  3. Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, they're running late on making our rig. We popped in to see it at Eclipse RV this week. Well, low and behold, it was not on the line!!! Ugh! We haven't been able to determine if it's Eclipse or Johnnie Walker that messed up. The bummer is we probably won't be going to Dumont for Halloween. And Johnnie Walker already sold our old rig! :(

  4. We've had our Raptor pull behind for over 4 years and have been happy with it. We had a lifted truck and couldn't safely pull a fifth wheel. Now that we have a new truck, a fifth wheel is an option. We really weren't considering a new rig until we went to the OC Sand Show last weekend. We looked at a couple nice models with no garage (we have a RZR and quad). When we got back to Vegas, we visited our local RV dealers. No one has much in stock for toyhaulers and they aren't willing to make any decent deals. We purchased our Raptor from Cal's and were really happy with them. There was no BS in the deal and the service was awesome. Unfortunately, they closed up shop. UGH!

    Anyway, we're looking to possibly buy out of state. We are also looking at either trading in our Raptor or selling it private party. If you know anyone interested, let me know. I'm not posting it on the classified section yet because this is still a thought process. It's 30 feet long (model 3018TT) and has 15 ft of cargo space. We've fit 2 quads and a RZR in it (and a Rhino before we got a RZR). We take good care of our stuff and have no kids to make messes! :)

    Also, if you know anyone who is looking to sell a nice lightweight fifth wheel with open storage (no garage), new or well maintained used, let me know.

  5. We rolled in on Thursday. Big Dave had already coned off camp, but we realized we needed a bigger circle. We had 17 rigs coming in, so our circle became a huge oval. We had a big fire pit in the middle, but the kids made a smaller fire pit. Some peeps didn't feel like walking, so we had 2 fires going by the end of the trip. :lol:

    We had a nice ride on Thursday afternoon. The next day we went for a quad ride before the dunes got too choppy. I haven't ridden my quad since last year, so my hand went numb (plus I have neuropathy), so we headed back to camp. Our group decided to go on a big family ride on Friday afternoon. That was when Joe flipped his RZR end over end. This is when I learned the importance of having a nice after market cage!!! So, the rest of the night we were all bummed out. The winds were howling that night, too.

    We spent most of Saturday packing up Joe's stuff. He had rented a really nice trailer from Dune Rat (Andy). Luckily Pete and Terry were able to get us Andy's number (thanks you guys). He came out that afternoon to get the trailer and Joe's girlfriend got his truck and toys. We did a couple small rides that day.

    We partied hard on Saturday night and were pretty much worthless the next day. It rained that morning. The group rolled out to the baby dunes and took a small hike up to the mines. We hung out at Vendor Row. They had some really kick a$$ stuff there for girls. I got a couple shirts and some of our girls got cute hats, sweat suits, etc. We took a crazy ride in the afternoon, but the dunes were choppy and wet from the rain.

    It was a fun weekend and we really enjoyed camping with everyone in our group. We were really sad that Joe and his girls couldn't spend the weekend with us. I miss being in Dumont. I can't wait for the next trip! :)

  6. We just visited our friend Joe in the hospital. Very sobering experience to see your friend get that hurt in a freak accident. He wanted to give a big thanks to the girls in our group that helped him and the medics/rangers. He is doing ok, considering the circumstances. He got his halo yesterday. Pain meds help too. :)

  7. LOL!!! Our "kids" are 4 legged and furry. Although they can cost us a pretty penny at the vet!

    I have to add about the shower topic that I can let the water run the entire time I take a shower in our rig. Why not? We always have tons of fresh water when we leave. Being a dink rocks. We just have to be nice to our niece and god-daughter so they take care of us when we are old.

    :lol::lol:

  8. I think we saw the end result of the accident you guys are talking about. Did it happen on Saturday? We saw a car stuck in the whole yesterday afternoon. We didn't see any medics, but they may have already been there.

    Our friend got into a serious accident on Friday between the north pole and comp. We were on a mellow family ride with 17 vehicles. He flipped his RZR end over end on a tiny dune. We kept him in the RZR until the medics arrived 45 minutes later. Luckily 2 of the girls in our group have a medical background and kept his head still. He got transported by an ambulance to Pahrump and then to UMC trauma. He had a broken vertebrae in his neck. He has a halo and is still at UMC. His daughter was riding with him, but she is okay. They think he will be okay, but please keep him in your prayers.

  9. It is super windy here right now. Our friends from San Diego said it's been raining like crazy there. So we might get some of that bad weather. There's a good amount of vendors here. I got a couple cute girly things. Yay! The President's Day shirt at California Casuals is only $12. Recession pricing! :)
