  1. I had a great time last weekend. Thanks for letting me camp with you guys VegasStyle, Dunefreak, and LouB. It was nice to get back out to the dunes again. I don't think I made more that two trips last season. I got to see some old friends and Cool meeting some new people too.

Everything ran great for the first trip of the year. I didn't even take the KX500 out of the trailer. It needs some love and a intake boot. I just haven't had time to get it going. The LTR ran and rode great. I chased the buggy run on saturday. The dunes were smooth as glass, and watching you guys work those cars is amazing, and a lot of fun.

No pics, but some cool memories.

    Be safe over Tday!

  2. It was a good shake down for me too.. Everything ran like they should. I bought a new to me 2000 KX5 and it was crazy fast! I haven't been on a 2stroke in 20 years and still cant get over how fast it is.

I wanted to go for a ride sunday, but my knee was letting me know that It was not a good idea. Kicking that 500 did it in. I had to ice it down last night so I can go to work today.

I'm having some problems with the MoHo overheating up the pass, and I broke the auto stairs saturday night. Fing money pit!

Thanks Dan for the inside info on the dirtbike. I'll be looking for a steering dampener asap.

It was cool hanging out with Mike, Jodie, steve, and the rest of the camp. That one guy with the kick a$$ LTR! cool weekend.

  3. I do all of our fleet's tires. I've got about 300 HD truck tires installed on equipment that I'm in charge of.

In my experience, the Toyo's hold up about as well as most foreign tires do :banghead: . We run bridgestones, Michelins( real expensive though), and Kelley's. I like the Kelley's because of the lower cost, and the country of origin :usa: ; my point being: you really do get what you pay for in tires.

Tire pressure is vital, especially on dual applications. Bridgestone did a study of the effects of 5 lbs. difference between a brand new set of mated duals, and found that the under inflated one ends up being drug, by the properly inflated one, 13 feet per mile. Not only is that a lot of unnecessary wear, but it also generates a lot of heat, which will cause blowouts as the casings age.

Other than that, keep the sun off them in storage via covers, and block them off the dirt(a theory that dirt pulls moisture)[ I use old mud flaps]. Also, routinely check for weather cracking/ dry rot, and or blisters(swelling) and cuts/injuries.

I've seen just about every brand blowout, so nothing's guaranteed. I had a steer tire go at 60 mph, destroyed the front end of the vehicle, but thank God no one was along side me, or they'd have died. It jerked the rig over about 15 ft, but it didn't flip :undecided:

It's cheap peace of mind to replace them if in doubt.

For our fleet, if we get 10 yrs before the casings go, we're doing good; but garage/ solar protection will increase your tire life.

    Hey, thanks for the info..

What do you think about nitrogen verses air in tires. is it worth the 80 bucks it costs?

Sams club in las vegas cant get my size tire. Costco has a Michelin XZE for about 500 $$$ each. I think I'm going to go with goodyear g670's.. Good tire? I think..

  4. Hi you guys!

I have been having trouble with the tires on my MoHo. I had a blowout in Texas, (Texas Sucks :dunno: s!0) and then last week my dad blew a tire in Utah. (Love Utah) both rear tires, different sides.

I looked at the tires the week before he took it out, but I didn't check the air. I don't think he checked it ether.

I've got a few questions: keep in mind, I'm buying new tires ASAP

How do you tell when a tire is going bad? (the side walls are kinda squishy on mine)

    What is the best tire?

Should you put all 115 lbs of air in, or should you leave 15 lbs for when it heats up?

Good place in vegas to buy tires?

    Specs:

    Front tires are ToYo, M120z 255/70r 22.5

Rear tires are Mixed now but same size.

And the coach is around 24,000 lbs

    thanks,

    Ken

  5. :argue: You must have read my post in a different tone than I meant.

You guess you'll just stick with Glamis? ok. Dune wherever you'd like. :idiot::idiot:

I went to glamis when all you guys were kicking it at the regatta. I did not like it. Just like I don't like your gray water tank dumping wile I drive behind you on the road out. This has happened to me several times.

Oh and glamis was not fun. it was like the D. after it rains and 50,000 big as* cars rode it all night. crappy!

  6. Anyone in the Vegas group have an enclosed trailer I can borrow for TDay weekend? I am trying to get both my rails out there and my buddy's trailer I was gonna use is not available now. :laughoff:

It only has to be big enough for my Busa rail which is 11'5" long and 85" wide.

    Let me know. Thanks. :laughoff:

I'm not sure if mine will work. it's setup for two Bikes so the tiedowns are in bad locations for a car, but your welcome to it.

Edit: never mind :laughoff: Its only 80" wide, plus the tiedowns. sry! :mischevious:

  7. I thought I would post up some pics, and say THANKS! to 80grit for giving my dad and my youngest son a ride in his rail. Neither one of them have stopped talking about it.

I should start at the top.

Me, my dad, and my two boys went out Wednesday before the poker run. I had to get back on Friday due to work and a birthday party.

I found a Raptor 350 when I was out shopping Tuesday getting ready for the trip. good looking 07 SE. He had a great time on it. I'm glad we ran out of gas, or we would have stayed and "F" the birthday party.

  8. I decided to go on Friday. It was the first run to the dunes in the new moho w/ a new trailer. I spent all morning long just trying to get the brake lights and turn signals to work. Got it half done, I couldn’t get the interior lights to work.

I had a great time, I Rode a lot. The dunes were crazy soft, and smooth. The weather was so nice. No one could have predicted that it would be so great out in August. My wife didn’t want to go. She said it was going to be too hot. LoL I told her it was a scorcher! I needed some down time anyway.

  9. im out too, dont know if this rash is gonna let up before saturday, i have some oinment that i have to apply hourly, and i hope it works. i am at the office now, and om heading out to get a "donut" so i can make it through the day. I cant imagine riding like this, i feel like i am sitting on hot razor blades that were dipped in salt and tabasco. anyway, i have my fingers crossed that this ointment helps.

just a reminder to everyone......always use the "cowboy hat" at the public restroom. trust me on this one

    :freakin_nuts: :undecided: :?:

  11. As this is one year to the day at the same time i was being wheeled into the hospital. i thought i would bring this thread to the top.

would like to say thanks to everyone that helped me out. took the doctors office starbucks and flowers this week. today i feel 95% ankle gives me few problems. it is a little deformed on the inside and doesnt like tight boots yet but hope to get some riding boots over the summer that will work. i do have a full set of nerf bars with heal guards now. sure glad that was last year and not this year work was better then and it was easier to manage 4 months down. the first big job i did when i went back to work i over did and was down for another 3 weeks.

but life is good now the season went well only 1 minor crash. looking to add a sidexside with the 450r next year. here are some pics that were deleted.

:beerpint::beerpint: good times...goooood times... :MBdance: what a day that was... my wife still wont let us take just one truck. shes crazy but she's only looking out for us.

I'm sure glad our last trip didn't end this way. :beerpint: to another year of ddr and Dumont...good times...good people!! :headbang1:

  12. I chink...I can get out on sat. :nah: Dunecoon is working :driver: ..but i think minor is off :rolleyes: , lets do it again!! :dope::slap::hello::blury: I had a great day, my back is sore from all the wheelies, and all i did today was :6pak: :6pak: , so i'll be good by sat.

  13. I noticed there was a forum regarding an accident Sunday morning.................

Well that man riding his motorcyle was one of ours. A group of us go to Dumont every other weekend and we have heard about the accidents, and deaths, but it doesn't hit you as hard as one of your own getting into an accident and dying.

A Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle and a really great friend was in a motorcyle accident and did not make it. He went on his first and only ride of the weekend and never returned to camp. He was gone for 10 minutes just around the end of the middle finger and a little over 100 yards from where we were camping. Its really a tragic happening when that man was part of your family. As a group we pulled together and did what we needed to do and that was to take care of his wife and kids.

    Please pray for his family........

    Thank You

so sorry for your loss. I wish there was more we could do or say, but we feel for you and your family. Gods speed duners!

kyle i'm sure sorry about your friend. Don't you wish your friends wouldn't do chit like this, so you don't have to say good by.
