  1. well there is another problem. cars have just as much right to take up the whole hill just like quads do. yes i understand that still doesnt make it right for cars to wheelie while quads are on the hill. but why should quads get to take up the whole comp hill and keep cars for doing what they are made to do?

    C’mon 90+ plus really :headbang1:

Going thru the dunes with car to car communication where everybody in your group is watching out for traffic going fast yet still very dangerous but taking every precaution, now to me that’s dunning!! These guys doing there wheelies up the hill are out of control period!! Trust me I have a LT car & let me tell you first hand YOU CANT SEE OR STEER YOUR CAR so to do it on the hill with that much traffic is STUPID!! Not saying the quads should have it all to them self’s just saying the LT’s need to use better judgment :headbang1:

    90+plus :banghead:

  2. The whole deal with riding wheelies up the hill is just plan stupid!!!!!!!! :headbang1: Like duneduc said we sat there at the hill Saturday and watched these guys ride there wheelies up the hill nearly missing people & turn around & do it again, just completely out of control, & the sad part is some of these guys are here on the board, :headbang1: & they know who they are, & the bottom line is its just not cool anymore!!

I have an idea! Dumont has banshee hill, so lets come up with LT wheelie hill & they can just take each other out not some kid on a quad or dirt bike.

We all need to be safe out there & have a great season doing what we all love to do. :banghead:

  3. if obamma is selling im sold...the worst thing for this country would be mccain and palin imo obamma all the way baby :usa:

You must not be self employed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Hello all, I am new to Dumont Dune Riders. I am an ex-Glamis rider who spent the last 2 years building my sandcar and while I was doing that all my buddies sold their toys...long story short, I was looking to spend Halloween at Dumont, however I'll be by myself and was wondering if anyone would mind one extra motorhome in their circle? I hate to impose, but nervous about being out in Dumont alone.

What’s up motogeekxr? Your welcome to hook up with my crew, we will be rollin in on Thursday camped near bath #3 my buddies rig is easy to spot 48ft white gooseneck race trailer! :DDRrocks:

What type of rail did you build???

  5. Truck= 8600 empty

    Trailer= 17500 empty

    Loaded both 31100 :undecided::grin:

Needless to say I have a lot of upgrades on the dodge to tow this setup. Hope I never hit the weight police :beat:

One good thing WW did for me (only good thing they did) was my GVWR on trailer was 18,000. After buying it I went right to the scales and called and complained that I only had 500 lbs payload (not even enough for water) so they asked me what I wanted it to say. I told them and they sent me a new sticker. Stupid me only said 21000 because I did not think I had that much stuff but I can lose enough weight, if I had to, to get under my GVWR...dump water and fuel

What are the axel ratings? If there 7-k your good but if there only rated for 6 grand it doesn’t matter what the sticker says the axel rating is wher they come up with GVWR be carful

Just one more thing its not the ticket that’s the problem it’s the chance that you get into an accident & this comes up that’s where your screwed & with WW out of business the only one left is you just say'n :beat::beat:

Big race at Oceano Dunes is illegal, suit says

Center for Biological Diversity seeks to ban a popular annual fundraiser pending environmental impact study

    By Nick Wilson

Read a copy of the lawsuit

An environmental group is challenging the legality of a popular off-road vehicle charity race that has been held at the Oceano Dunes for four years.

The Center for Biological Diversity alleges in a lawsuit that the state Department of Parks and Recreation illegally issued a permit for the fourth annual Oceano Dunes Endurance Beach Race held Oct. 19-21 because it did not study the potential effects of the race on the local environment.

That race is the biggest of the year hosted at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, according to State Parks officials.

The three-day event is a fundraiser for spinal cord injury research and The Clayton Memorial Foundation, which offers financial help to injured motorcycle racers.

“Bulldozing, grading and fencing along the beach” in preparation for the race, as well as “disturbance from motorized vehicles, noise and blowing sand” and “impacts from a watercraft exhibition competition” could harm 12 threatened or endangered plants and animals that live at or near the Dunes, according to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Sacramento County Superior Court.

Among the animals and plants that could be harmed are the western snowy plover, steelhead trout, the red-legged frog and the tidewater goby, as well as the Nipomo Mesa lupine, La Graciosa thistle, Gambel’s watercress and the marsh sandwort.
    :shocked2: :dunno:

The lawsuit by the Tucson, Ariz.-based group seeks a court order barring future races until an environmental impact report is completed, and asks taxpayers to pay the environmentalist group’s court costs and attorney fees.

State Parks attorneys declined to comment because they have not been served the lawsuit.

The agency issued the Central Coast Motorcycle Association a “notice of exemption” that “states that the ‘proposed project will not have a significant impact on the environment’ and that the project is within ‘the normal operations of existing facilities for public gatherings for which the facilities were designed,’ ” according to the lawsuit.

“If any activity is approved by an agency in California, it must go through a (California Environmental Quality Act) review,” said Lisa T. Belenky, a lawyer for the Center for Biological Diversity, which says it has 35,000 members. “There’s a flat-out difference of opinion about the effect on the environment.”

The race attracts thousands of visitors for the weekend, according to parks officials.

The Oceano Dunes is the most popular off-road park in California and the eighth-most visited park in the state, with 2.1 million visitors last year.

Belenky said that her group focused the lawsuit on the race as opposed to riding year-round because she believes it was a specific violation of the law in regards to events hosted by state agencies.

The lawsuit also challenges the timing of State Parks’ permitting process. The agency received a permit application March 17, according to the lawsuit. On Sept. 27, state officials granted the exemption to an environmental review, and the group alleges that the agency issued a special-event permit for the race Oct. 19, the day it began.

“The parks department issued a race permit on the same day of the event without providing the public with an opportunity to review the proposal or comment on the impacts,” said Andrew Orahoske, a spokesman for the environmental group.

At this year’s Endurance Race, 17-year-old Maxwell Niederhauser of Utah died after crashing his vehicle. His death is not part of, and is not related to, issues in the lawsuit.

  8. Thanks for replying, you know I’m not sure how it was set up I just bought this car & it has less than 5 hrs on it so I’m not sure if they ever really set it up the spring were all the way out & the lock nut on top was loose so I was questioning that! I am not familiar with triple bypass shocks so if this thing is bucking or swapping I was going to start with adjusting the compression & rebound but again I really don’t know what I’m doing I did get the ride height set up with 5in droop so that’s my start.

    Thanks
