  1. A friend of mine just bought one and had it shipped for around 11K. If you want I can find out where he got it from?

Sure let us know I'm trying to get Capt to get me one and I've decided thats not going to work so .....the next step is to buy it and show him when he gets home :D

  2. Bob, you don't have a battery shut off and a removable steering wheel?

Yeah but there's people like me and capt that have a steering wheel just waiting for him to turn his head and then were outta there with the green machine :headbang1:

Just kidding. But I'm sure he don't want no idiots sitting on his car ruining his paint job :D

  3. Thank you.

We have never made money vending at the dunes when you figure in all the costs. We do this more to support and promote our business. On that aspect we make customers and good friends.

I can understand why some charge what they do. They do it fulltime every weekend when there are not as many buyers out there, but their costs remain the same

    I don't know, it's a fine line.

Me and my husband (yellow raptor) always stop by your place first when we brake something or need anything. Of course its cheaper in town. But 4 hours of driving round trip plus the tank of gas. Who cares. Once we needed a bolt that would cost 50 cents and paid $15 from some random guy cause no one else had it. Yeah it was over priced but after all the money spent getting there it was worth it to keep riding.I hope you guys keep coming. So I can keep buying :D

  4. Let me first say WOW what a great camp Barefootbob and his family are great people :dope:

Thanks for letting me and Capt crash your camp. :dope:

And thanks for the buggy ride it was great.

    Ok here's my observations.

    1. A way to a mans heart is good food and beer

    2. A girl will love you forever if you just cook for her whether its good or not

    3. Caleb now says no more jumps mommy please :laughoff:

    4. Marissa wants to live in the green buggy jumping.

    5. People loose all common sense when drunk :banghead:

    6. There are people that think there the only people in the dunes. :dunno:

    7. You can loose the bed of your tuck going over the whoops to fast :pissed: (you know who you are)

    8. Took only 5 pics and brought two cameras and one video camera :blury:

    9. I will never make the meet and greet no matter how hard I try

Me and Capt had a great time. Everyone at camp was great. The kids all got along even with my demon kids :hello: . The mini jumper was a big hit with the kids, there was always atleast one kid in it. Bob and his wife are the greatest people ever.

  5. Wow the wind was extremely bad.

We as in me and Capt and our two kids were on our way to the south pole when my son decides to jump a razor back (not on purpose) 15ft in the air the helmet snap popped open and the helmet flies off.Now I'm having a heart attack watching this I'm about 30ft behind :dunno::think: him I had saw what was coming but no time to stop him. Well he landed it with just a few scrapes and bruises and a little blood not much tho. So long story short he's ok and we didn't make another meeting :beercheers: :no_no:

Other then that we had a great time. :D

I think I would rather no wind then the wind we had it was bad. Now we have to really work hard to get the sand out that blew in :news:

  6. Yeah, there are several different threads on this whole thing and we've tried to let people know from the beginning that the road is not (and never will be) paved.

Paving the road costs, no kidding, $1,000,000 per mile. One million! Sorry... but that's just not in the Dumont budget.

The problem we all share is, the EPA is targeting 'dust' problems and we have (had?) a big one at Dumont along the entrance road. The BLM tried several substances and methods but none seemed to be working. Using this product to lay a surface down was relatively inexpensive and paying for it didn't come from user fees.

The dust problem could have caused Dumont some serious capacity limit issues at the least, closures at the worst... so the washboard surface remains until someone can come up with $1,000,000 (per mile) to pave the darn thing. ;)

    VickiW

I think I'll settle for cruising real slow ;)

And it had helped the dust.

  7. These are the weekend I plan on going out this season:

    December 27-January 1 2008 (Happy New Year!)

January 18-21 (Martin Luther King Day)

    February 29-March 2

    March 14-16

    March 28-30

Maybe more but just doing this will be a stretch.

Me and Capt try to make it every weekend it makes it easy we don't have to unpack :D

  8. if you were 1 of the many people that my wife ran into and helped look for him a big THANK YOU from us to you.

Many possibilities of the outcome and all ended up well. Just wanted to thank everyone for the help and if the situation was reverse you could count on me for help!!

Tore us up pretty bad and had us very scared.

    thanks again.

This is Captns Wife , Just wanted to also say thanks. There was one girl that was just a doll out there she got her whole camp in the buggies and rhinos looking it really touched my heart so thanks in the biggest way.

If you know me then you would know I'm usually the one 5 ft behind my son riding in case something happens

you know the paranoid mom thats me lol

Everything turned out good now theres more rules for Dad and Mom

  9. The Alumicraft has a Turbo Honda........probably 450 HP.............If I'm not mistaken, the internals were done on that motor as well.

:D Just wanted to day thanks Joe for helping out  I'm capt"s wife and I too have hours into this :headbang1:

  10. If you are new, then you havent seen everything change and develop into what it is today....and who cares what they do with the money????????? i think we all care what they do with the money...that doesnt make much sense to not care :thumb:

I might have not seen much change. That's forsure. But I have seen the road change and just because I'm new doesn't mean I can't notice the difference in the road or now help make one and the part about the money is I just figured we were paying for the camp host and bathrooms to stay clean so I didn't give it much thought it's just not enough money to lose sleep over.

  11. Well I'm new to this site and slighty new to the Dunes 6 months ago the rode was way better so at first without knowing facts you get a little pissy when the road is worse but now knowing I'll help in whatever way I can to keep the dunes from shutting down that includes going to meeting if it will help anything.

And BTW who cares what they do with the money. The other choice is Amargosa with no bathrooms and talk about roads going in LOL do you have a trailer left when your done is the question not how slow you go.

So I have to agree with Vicki lets just do what we have to do to keep it open and smile :ban-split:
