I can't count how many times I have had to stop and wait for someone on a bike/quad to look in the direction he/she is going and realize they are running through our group.....or on a collision course for me in my rail. It's comical to see the reaction when they realize what's up.

Safety is everyone's job unless you're ok with putting your life in everyone else's hands....

I agree Safety is everyone job I can't tell you how many time this weekend we had 5 or 6 buggys in a row and some quad runs in th middle of the group

Its everyone job to look out for each other and when you are jumping allways have a spotter Remenber the life you safe my be your own BE SAFE in the dunes

I know that the LEO will be in large # out this weekend I have good info from SB Sherffis they well be their in force . The ranger will have 75% of barstows office out at Dumont .

During the week Sun Thru Wed the 21 Not a Ranger around or LEO

During the last TRT meeting, it was decided and agreed upon by the BLM & the TRT that Easter be dropped as being considered a "holiday weekend". Instead of the BLM charging extra on Easter weekend, MLK weekend will now be treated as the 5th holiday weekend instead. This means there will be the $10 holiday surcharge on that weekend unless you hold a season pass that includes the holiday weekend upgrade.

Main reason for the switch: MLK weekend has been growing in popularity and seems to have more visitors than Easter weekend. As a result, the BLM needs to provide more staff (Rangers, EMTs, personel, etc) out there that weekend.

5 holiday surcharge weekends

Halloween

Thanksgiving

New Years

MLK weekend (Jan 19-21)

Presidents Day

Easter

I Know some pople that will not be going to Dumont on the Big weekend due to the :chug: fee's :jester:

Our plan is to still go but if the weather is to bad we'll and go an off weekend.

Al Sandcars will be their with the LONG - LONG - awaited but not complete New CAR It together but the engine not Completed ( blower not Installed )

Which brings up another point

At Lake Mead, the BLM has a squad of volunteer EMTs / Medics that respond to calls in BLM owned boats.......The "Minutemen" from the southern border states come to mind ....grant it, the logistics are mind-numbing but I bet it would work....

Have volunteers patrol Dumont at various hours...independently from rangers, with the use of BLM issued radios, the reporting of illegal activity, i.e DUI, rebar placing, speeding, dope, ect... could be called in with no actual interaction by the volunteer...kind of like "Secret Witness" on steroids.....more "cops" for no extra money and an overall safer situation.....I would be more than willing to assist with a shift without thinking twice!!! Once again, Im frustrated and talking directly out of my , but it may be worth some consideration by folks who know the channels :dance: ...Im not sure how the rangers would appreciate being dragged around Dumont by "civilians" but just a thot :shout:

Very good idea But BLM won't go for it I try to set something like that with them 2 years ago I was going to give them a radio with all the channels BLM didn't want the radio they said everyone would be reporting every little thing and would just cause them to be over loaded :argue:

The committee meeting that was required before the suggested fee increase could go in has taken place and the Barstow BLM was given approval to move ahead.

They are feverishly printing passes right now and I was assured they would be ready for the Thanksgiving rush.
