  1. arron is lost right now he will find his way back soon. lol. If you have a fast 4 stroke you know what it takes just to beat some of the big bansheeee but we are still going faster every time we bring it out.dp can't wait to see that thing done.

Hey Roy how's the bike running. you get it all dialed in yet ?

  2. I wish I would be out there when you guys line up with the banshees.I have never seen any 4 strokes or motorcycle motor bikes line up with the fast banshees.

A drag banshee will weigh about 250lb.

A 12 mil will run 80+ on the left side and 90+ on the right side of the hill.

I think the builder has alot to do with how fast the bike is. You might beat some slower 10 mils.

I have seen 12 mils beat some 18 mils but they won't if they are from the same builder.

    A 150lb rider helps.

If the 12's are doing 90 what are the 18&24's doing ?

  3. :mischevious: You do relize how fast a well built 24 is right? A turbo wakes anything up but a 24 is just plain stupid fast. DP315 is building a turbo bike right? I'm curious to see if it will beat our 12.. let alone a 24. When is that bad boy gonna be done?

The power to weight ratio of a 2 stroke is hard to beat. I've done some numbers and on the low end I'll be around 200hp and the high end will be 250hp. It will likely be a 500lb bike though. I'm shooting for a gearing combo that will yield 80-85mph. I suspect that will be very competive with a 12mil.

Who knows what guys really run in their bikes, but with my stock R1 I beat guys claiming to have 10mils and been beaten by guys claiming to have 10mils, so who knows.

The motor is in the frame now and I'm working on the turbo plenum as we speak. I would like to have it done for the night drags.

  4. i have a 04 banshee that is mostly stock. it runs fine at sea level, but up in dumont its seems to lean out on the top end. it seems to be pulling fine as it gets into the powerband but falls flat a little early. i didnt mess with the air screw last time out and i havent pulled the plugs to check the condition, but maybe somebody can tell me what size jets might work up there. :offtopic:

    list of mods:

    Toomey T6 pipes

    TORS eliminated

    K&N, no lid, billet adaptor

    Boyesen reeds

    Boost bottle (worthless IMO)

also getting ready to install adjustable timing plate if i can pick up some power on a stock engine.

Dumont is only 700' above sea level. If it runs fine at sea level, 700' shouldn't make that kind of difference. On my bike I have t5's, port work & timing. If I recall correctly I'm around 230main and 27.5 needle, I also run a k&n, but I have to use the airbox lid (with holes drilled per toomey). Believe it or not just removing the airbox lid will make that thing run completely crappy.

Get rid of the boost bottle. Does toomey specify holes drilled in tha air box with the lid on ? I know they did with the t5's and if you have not done that in my experience that will cause the type of problem your having.

  5. 12mill, drag frame..etc.

I don't know what you paid for your 12mil or what kind of hp you're getting out of it, but I do know that I paid $200 for a stock 140hp street bike motor that pushed my bike up the hill at 68-70mph every trip out without a single problem. I own a banshee and I paid more for the port job on that and it only puts out 70hp@51mph.

  6. It doesn't matter what you ride, there is always somebody faster. I'd bet though dollar for dollar you're getting a faster more reliable bike with a street bike motor. I definately had my share getting beat by worked banshees, but how many of them can hot lap the hill time after time and keep running without breaking something or overheating ?I like to go out to ride not sit around working on my bikes or waiting for my bike to cool down. just my :laughoff:

  7. It sounds like weight , paddles , or maybe gearing are the difference? My bike was 480lbs with 25x12x9 14 extreme paddle. I ran it with filters right off the throttle bodies and a custom exhaust. In fact when I had the dyno done the air to fuel ratio didn't even have to be changed even though I eliminated the air box and used custom headers. I dont know how your bike runs, but a 55 sounds a little tall to me (not enough teeth)? I'm optomistic with the turbo on the new bike and will be running a 55 which should ideally give me 88 in 3rd@10,350rpm.

I geared the R1 bike to run 69 @10,500rpm. I was pretty close at 68 and periodically hit 70mph (or the rev limiter if the hill was choppy). I probably could have gone to a 58/59 sprocket, or even a 16 paddle.

My dyno only came out at 88hp, but the wheels were spinning all the way through 5th gear so that's not a real accurate #.

As fas as speed goes 1mph=1.467fps(feet per second).................so 5mph=7.335 feet that you're pulling ahead of somebody every second. If you figure a 6 second race, thats 44 feet your ahead at the end.
