  1. Sandfrk33, you said it quit on you, quit running/ignition or the light quit? Was it a new/aftermarket assembly or rewound lighting coils and your orig stator sent for a core? The lighting coils are an easy rewind, the trick to make them last is clear epoxy coat the coils so they don't vibrate and wear through the insulating coat and moisture proof. I made new coils for my LT 250 & 500, iron laminate core and windings and no problems for 10 years, the epoxy is the trick, regular not quick dry, too brittle and vibration cause little cracks thats not moisture proof.

Your banshee stator has 6 ignition source coils (green arrows) and 6 lighting coils (red arrows) and the higher wattage rewinds just use bigger gauge and wound in alternating directions (white arrows)

Add 1 of these (rectifier/regulator) and a small battery (some get by with a capacitor) and you can run an HID or 2, more light and uses less power.

It was kind of weird. I bought a brand new stator. It started right up, idled fine, lights worked but wouldn't rev past 1/2 throttle. At first it felt like it was running too rich. Checked out everything before I figured out it was the stator. Luckily I brought my stock unit just in case. RS told me to change my coil and wires before sending it back. Hand winding the coils seems a little too involved to me. Me and electricity don't work well together. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  2. On super bowl weekend, I switched my stock stator on my banshee to a new 200w ricky stator stator. Went for the first ride and it quit on me. When I got back, I called them about the warranty. After talking to a few people, I guess this isn't an isolated incident. Anyone else ever had problems with ricky stator? What are other good brands?

  3. for sure, Brian. I am down.

Where will you be parked? We'll probably pull up w/ vegas style near bathroom #6 on Sat morning I'm guessing around 10 or 11ish

we usually camp near the end of the finger at the old vender spot. should be there around 1. Look for a red/silver f-250. what are you guys drivin?

  4. How bout some info on that water heater, it might be 1 of those with that overheat safety link in the wires that you can see when you open the access door. If so you can take it off and bypass it to test, my brothers WW has had that happen twice now. The 2nd item to check is the thermocouple, sits in the pilot flame. If it has an electronic ignition / circuit board it can be a head scratcher. Ck for a fuse on the circuit board and try disconnecting and reconnect the elect connections. If the elect ignition works you should hear a clicking as it arcs. good luck.

Checked all the fuses and breakers. I've got full tanks of gas. Today I blew 2 lbs of sand out of it with my compressor and still nothing. When I turn it on, it doesn't click or try to light. I'll take it in before next trip. Thanks for the help.

  5. My last trip out to the dunes, my water heater quit working. It still works when I switch it to electric, but not with gas. Anyone know anything about them, or should I quit being a cheapskate and take it in. Any help would be appreciated.

  6. Sounds like fun. Only good thing about breakin it is making it faster. If you put a cool head, they told me 21 cc domes for pump gas, anything smaller you might have to run 50/50 mix. Check your compression after the build, anything over 160 lbs you need more octane. Port work is the best bang for the buck. Dont know much about bigger carbs, still run stockers. Post updates on the motor, good luck. 2-strokes still rule :beercheers:

  7. The barstow crew and I got there wed. Good weekend until some drunk a-hole slammed his buggy into my buddy mikes banshee friday night. He was on the top of comp with 2 friends, lights on, right above where that rail flipped. BLM watched it happen. My friend is OK but it wrecked the back end of the banshee pretty bad. All in all still a good trip.

  8. If you are going to put an adjustable timing plate, be careful. To much advance causes detenation in the cylinder. I dont know about doing it with stock porting. My group still has a few banshees we dune. We'll be out for new years if you want to go riding. 2 strokes still rule

  9. I have the exact same suspension set-up on my buggie. If you lift the front up too much, the wheels tip in and make it hard as hell to steer. I put marvin shaws on mine and you can play with the nitrogen pressure. Going to be rough any way. Swing axles don't get any better either. :offtopic:
