  1. I just couldn't stand myself so I bought one. Great deal. Home Depot 30 off it I open a card +6 monthes same as cash. Score. Now I have to mount it. :assblast:

we did the same thing a few weeks ago, opened a card with them, i run mine in the garage for when i work on my baja, but if i dont leave the garage half open the humidity builds up and it gets warm in there

  2. This guy doesn't even have his chit built yet and he's doing tricks in the garage! :beerpint::contract:

:driver: we talked about strapping it behind the truck and pulling it through the neighborhood, but the lack of brakes might suck

tonight we mounted the seats and bent up some tube for the sides should have pics sunday or monday

  3. gonna work on mounting the seats and get the beam and torsion on it soon.

  4. Its called progress. Can't wait to see it finished. Its going to be a long summer... :blury:

hopefully it will all be worth it by the time dune season comes.

I love building things, knowing and learning how things work, and being able to say i made that, mostly why i love working construction so much (if it would ever pick back up )

Ive also been working on mounting the bus trans in the bug torsion

    transmount1.jpg

curious too see what you guys think of my welds, i just started welding in december

    transmount2.jpg

I pulled apart the trans recently to replace the seal and bushings in the nose cone only to discover this

    nose cone damaged

    trans5.jpg

    bearing destroyed

    trans2d.jpg

so im in the process of learning how to tear apart the trans

i picked up a new nose cone from RcTrans (really helpful people there)

  5. Laid out the plans tonight and bent a few tubes. going to continue in the morning

my seats will arrive tomorrow, he have decided to call them mastercraps... i will explain more when i get them

  6. main problem is lack of funds, and not being able to make up my mind. I cant decide if i want a 1600 car or make a new sandrail similar to mine but wider. Im leaning toward a sandrail because it would be alot simpler and it would be ready by halloween.

  7. how hard is it to take a home made trailer and get it registered, because i could whip up one of those in an afternoon

otherwise i would have to buy a dolly, register it then extend it, but building my own would save a lot of cash.

  8. after hours of of staring at my frame and several beers later we decided the best thing to do is get rid of the frame and start fresh. I love the look of the 1/2 1600 class cars, so i plan to build a two seater for the dunes with the look of a 1600 car. Its just a matter of finding out some dimensions so i can start bending some tube.

Id like it to look similar to this car other than maybe different sheet metal work.'

  9. Anyone know the laws in Ca and Nv for flat towing, im in the middle of deciding whether to build a new 2 seat frame or turn a bug into a baja, the bug has no title. and if i do the rail it would be homemade. I have no room for a trailer and no money to buy one.

ive heard people say they flat tow there race cars with no reg/insur with no problems, and others say it has to be reg/insur. and i cant afford insurance on another vehicle.

    anyone?

  10. still waiting on the bender, but in the mean time, I cut the rear end out, picked up a new rear end and a dual port 1600 motor.

    oldtorsion.jpg

This was the donor car for the motor and torsion setup. It took about an hour to pull the motor and trans, and to pull the body off the pan

  11. I finally have a sandrail... kinda. It needs alot of work, but i hope to have it drivable by Halloween 2010

    cimg0949f.jpg

it needs a new rear torsion setup, strip the house paint etc

the main thing right now is the cage is to low for me, anyone with a bender willing to help for a couple cases of beer? my neighbor has a jd2, but i dont know him to well yet and he just moved in so its not mounted to the ground yet.

i cant wait to hit the dunes :thumb:

oh and its going to be right hand drive lol
