  1. I decided to start a new thread and get some helpful advice from people who've owned TH's and what you've learned. This whole process reminds me of buying our first house. There were so many things we learned and did different on our 2nd house. I'd like to hear what kind of options and things are important, especially in taking TH's out to the sand, the mountains, etc? What can't you live without? Or, on the other hand, what would you not get the next time???

    Thanks!!!!

    :P

Always buy bigger than you need because you will always end up getting more toys . Seperate fuel station from gen is a must.Know what you can tow with your vehicle or you will be buying a new truck. Inverters are very cool so you dont have to fire up the gen to watch t.v .never enough storage

  2. Folks, I know for a fact that sanddemon and myself have given the dates for each meeting. Hell I have even offered a free seat for the drive. I know Tuesday is difficult believe me it is for me to. Yes e mails and lettters on the "good" things that are happening and ideas on how to fix the "bad" are welcomed by the TRT,BLM and FoDD. Just so you all are aware there are a couple of positions on the FoDD board of directors in Jan. The meeting is in Ca. but it will be on a Sat. and I will let everybody know.

Believe me when I tell you all that your help and comments are felt and listened to. Do not feel that you are raging against a blank wall. We all feel that way when we first get involved. You have to remember that we are dealing with a goverment bureaucy and it moves very slowly. We certainly are pushing it the right way with your continued help we will accomplish what we want. But do understand that this an uphill climb and there will always be bumps in the road.

Again THANK YOU to all for your help!

    Terry

Thanks for the info, I will be getting together tomorrow with the people in our camp and start sending letters. I just figured it was falling on deaf ears, like talking to the rangers on Thanksgiving about the speed limit near camps and vendor alley. They acted like I was crazy for expecting them to stop the people speeding through that area. So now I will send my thoughts and concerns to Roxie Trost at the BLM office.

  3. I would highly recommend the Subaru. Like nick said you will have to run race gas at 8 pounds of boost max or 10 pounds max with a intercooler. With the 80 pounds of weight savings the car will handle way better. Another option is the turbo Honda, that would be my first choice. The Turbo Honda is a fantastic motor package. You are definately headed in the right direction with the motors you are planing on using. A turbo 350-450HP motor is hands down a better option than a heavy a$$ V-8. They are way easier on trannys and CV's.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

thanks for all the input i was told honda didnt last past stock boost geuss i was told wrong. right now i have the 2.0 subi but i want more power do you know what the 3.5 honda puts out for power at 8lbs and do you run race fuel

  4. What chassis are you putting it in? Are those your only choices? Does the Nissan need race gas?

buggy works no just what i was thinkin about the nissan is on pump fuel at 7 lbs boost the reason i was thinkin of nissan was 70 lbs lighter than honda balistic motors has been r&d for a year and a half with no issues

  5. raptoroy's cargo capacity:

    -a 4 seater LT rail

    -2 ltz400's

    -2 Raptors

-and 1 guy on the floor

    :happydrunks:

:smoker: thats where i take my nap after loading my sh** still having hard time finding trailer for toys friend of mine just bought 45 ft "ww"but who wants to drag that around and it won't fit in my parking.lookin at maybe carhauler slash living quarters.pete all i had planned was to make it to both rail rides but friday morning lost tensioner on timing belt finally after going back to vegas to get belt and easy out .i got the car running saturday about 3:00 :blury: hopefully next time

  6. I think the disrespect is a problem, but what do you hope to accomplish by talking to the rangers? This is only going to cause us to have more rules. Is that what we really want?

the rules are already in place as to how fast you should be doing around camps and vendor alley ithink instead of writing citations for t blue tail lights they could stop[ and warn the people for flying around i beleive last year we spoke with a ranger and he had a radar gun and was stopping people and telling them the next time they would receive a ticket the dust and flying around camp is out of hand . the rangers seem to just watch them screem by. just a thought. :D

  7. :shocked2: i understand why you guys dont go on big weekend s. but i willnot let them win by stopping me and my friend from going when we want.plus as you can see by this great site if all unite maybe somehow we can help fix this. i wish we could have some kind of meeting with the rangers on the big weekend and discuss the problems with them so maybe they would inforce the rules that would make a difference. they pulled a guy in my camp over for a blue tail light instead of red .just my two cents .sorry for typo typing really not my thing

  8. no idea, I was camped about 200 yards away.

    anybody?

Did you see the long travel car on the open trailer, the completely wrecked one? I talked to the guy, amazing.......story and he walked away.

We saw the rail Friday morning but don't know what happened. We were curious about the story, that rail looked pretty bad. Good to hear that he walked away.

  9. on the 45 gussetsI would make them as long as possible, but that depends on how big the possible passengers are. Ussually around 6-8 inches and 1 inch di is fine. You may be able to go slightly longer since it appears that head room would not be the issue. Once you put a lid on it they will double as a grab handle for entry and exit also.

Since there is a middle bar I d x both sides in 1 or 1.25. and tab em so what ever lid you put on wont rattle.

thanks alot for the input i"ll ad some bracing this is what the site should be about fellow duners helping each other thanks again :happydrunks::shocked:

  10. Newbie question: "What's U-4?"

  11. Sorry to hear that you had problems , but you may want to see what happend to your motor , before

pointing fingers ! the yfz was the only bike done just before halloween ...

hey guys just talked to robert a friend of the yfz and they tore it apart last night to find the rist pin was seized up :beercheers:

  12. Hey I was wondering if anyone knows what toyhauler comes with the most garage space without ordering. I have a LT sandrail, 4 quads. It looks like the 34ft WW FS would fit two quads and the rail and two in my bed. I was just wondering if there were any others with about 23ft of garage. Thanks in advance for any help.

  13. I agree it seemed like this was a$$ weekend. My sandrail blew a CV at comp on Saturday on the left side of comp hill. I left to walk back to camp and get a tow back. I almost got ran over and didn't get a ride from anyone until i was halfway through the whoops. My wife and a friend stayed with the car. They had to get out and away from the car because the rails didn't move over and kept racing by and one did a wheelie right next to the car. It seems as though concern for others has been lost to the " look at me " attitude. Also this weekend the sandrails seemed to be racing everywhere like through the whoops right next to the quads. I understand that its everyones dunes, but it only takes one little mistake to ruin someones life. It just amazes the total disregard some people have for others. ok I am off my soap box just had to vent a little. :shocked2: :woo_hoo::loser:

  14. yep, I saw those bags on the highway. :beercheers:

We picked up quite a bit at comp...enough to fill the entire back of my truck! Something like 7-8 bags of trash.

As to the bags on the highway, we were coming home about 6pm Sunday and just as we got on to the Pahrump highway from Tecopa turn- off a truck with a toyhauler passed us and there was trash blowing out of the bed of their truck all over the place. I believe the plates were GR8TYM on the trailer plates. We all need to learn to take a little extra time and tie the trash down.

Also Pete if you need help gusseting your parts let me know I worked for a specialty fabrication shop for ten years.

  15. You can also go to Powerhouse Racing they deal with all the same companies and we usually always recieve our shipments within one business day.
