  1. i've been with state farm for over a decade. every year i call around to see what other insurers are offering, and state farm is always lower for the same policies (probably because of the longevity.) it depends on the person (credit, driving record, etc.) so some companies work better for others.

it's good to see that they cared about your business, pete.

  2. A group of us is coming from Ut. Haven't seen anything posted about it yet. Are we coming to empty dunes?

president's day weekend is the busiest weekend of the year at dumont sand dunes. it's the same weekend as the jeep jamboree. turnout is expected in the tens of thousands.

  3. If it's pouring the river crossing will be flowing pretty good, but you should be fine. Just expect some potholes from the water. There was only one time I remember ever not being able to get across, Prez weekend 05. People were sitting on the entrance road for like 3-4 hours.

Ever since they expanded the concrete it has been fine, although we haven't had a crazy rain like in we did 05 since...well....05. :headbang1:

january 05 was nas-tay. it rained the whole month. my neighbor was having his roof done that month, heh.. it wasn't pretty.

  4. while flippin' channels i ended up on another newsbroadcast interviewing haitians.. it seems that they could use canned food, blankets, water, and physical treatment.. not one of them asked for some cash.

i got a cabinet full of canned food i don't intend on using, some old blankets, and i wouldn't mind chipping in some water. i'd like to keep my money in the bank, and apparently the three stooges want me to keep my old blankets and food as well.

  5. Nowhere in there does it say we don't commonly use negro anymore. It's what they are. More white people have been on safari in Africa than these folks who call themselves "African-American" and they're not claimming any hyphenated distinction. I'm Scottish-Irish-French-Canadian but having never been to Scotland, Ireland, France, or Canada I just claim to be red blooded all AMERICAN by birth and Southern by the grace of God.

And they're not Black, they come in many different shades from high yellow to red bone to black, hence "Colored". I just wish they'd make up their effin' minds so we could get the paperwork right. :DDR: Changes every three to five years on what they prefer to be called. :headbang1:

that's agreeable to a certain extent. this is a little embarrassing but i was watching oprah and some other broads the other day and they were having this conversation as well. i can tell you for a fact that NO black person prefers "colored." the rest you mentioned is all pretty much preference amongst black folk.

i'm always givin' my buddies sh*t about being "african." i'm not sure they're very aware of how poor the quality of life is there, yet they still maintain their african pride.

i purchased a new vehicle last year and the salesman was from ghana. actually, i purchased another new one from him on saturday. he is so happy and proud to be an american in america. he had poor things to say about his people and his government.

anyway, so much for haiti, hah.

  6. I really wanted to add something insightful and informative but with YFZ, Junkie, Rick and several others already on my a$$ for growing up in a city that was 80% Negro and understanding how they live and treat others but not having a right to express my opinion because it's different than their own...

c'mon ace, you know you're allowed your opinion, it's that people shouldn't be allowed to bash other peoples opinions. debating an opinion is another thing altogether, that's always interesting and i always encourage that. but those of which you mentioned, when you cross the line we're gonna call you out and go eye for eye.

see that big red heart below my handle ace, that's my love for you. feel free to add something insightful and informative to this thread.

p.s.. alot of things have changed since the 60's. we don't commonly use "negro" anymore, just say "black" or "african american."

    back on topic, maybe.

  7. Temper! Temper!

    Toots? :MBdance::thumb::beercheers:

no temper at all, that's just me normal. i'm sicilian, i use toots and broad loosely, please don't take that in any offense, as those aren't words i intend to be disrespectful.

back on topic: skyz, although we disagree on most everything.. i agree with your posts on the "relief effort." i choose not to follow up on the broadcasts anymore. everytime there's an update or a story, it's followed by "again, the president is urging you to send money."

  8. Anytime there is a charity there are adminstrative costs to manage said charity. If you look at any charity's books you will find that a very small percentage of the money actually gets to the people it is suppose to benefit.

This whole situation just makes me frustrated and mad. We have so many problems right here in our own country that the government has no clue how to solve so they think that the solution is to charge the american working class more money (higher taxes). The war in Iraq has and continues to cost billions of dollars. That region of the world has been at war since time began. This government is getting our people killed for no reason at all. We are imposing our way of government on someone else when they can't make it work in our own country.

As far as Haiti goes let somone else take care of them. It's not our responsibility. They are already talking about "What are our long term plans for rebuilding Haiti?" That means the 100 million dollars pledged is just a miniscule amount of what they plan to spend. Can you say TAX HIKE?

I am a very charitable person and try to make my donations where I think that they will benefit AMERICANS the most.

If you spent your money how the government spends your money would you be broke very quickly? If you had a disaster in your town or state do you think that people from any other country would raise a finger to do anything to help you?

    agreed.

    Yes I am an @sshole!

me too, i'm a jerk and a big meanie also. -shrug-

  9. If that was intended toward me I have know problem calling a spade a spade.

i would rather read this than see a smiley used in place of a word. thanks for correcting that don. i believe people can respect that more.

as far as everything else, that's your opinion that your entitled to. i agree with most of it.

  10. :beercheers: Get over your self. it's a smilie

He is your brother, right?, that is the?

OK just for the record, Yo :B prez is half white. So let's go with the Prez. and his constituents want us, The American Citizens to send (and I quote) YOUR CASH! to their Haiti fund.

I wonder what ADMINISTRATIVE costs are involved.

are you mentally handicapped? i can care less if the president is black, white, yellow, brown, or whatever. i didn't vote for him.

for once you start a thread that has merit. did you read above where i stated that i was apalled about the whole thing? and that was before obama got involved when it was initially just clinton.

so why am i the only american in america that can't have an opinion, huh toots? my next post in this thread will get to my point, which was very clear, and don obviously understood it. i dunno why you can't.

  11. I know you weren't talking about my post Joseph. I used the smiley titled B to signify who I meant when I said (he). If you think that's racist, your sensitivity might be a little high. Furthermore, I don't think anyone is hiding behind their monitor when so much identifies who we are(pics, email, etc.)

I'm just saying, I don't get all offended because of these smileys. :beercheers::MBdance::thumb:

don't get all worked up brother, it's only the internet. you don't use smileys in place of words so no, it wasn't intended for you.

and that's all good too, you shouldn't be offended by anything, especially smileys. nothing on here offends me, but some people should grow a pair.

pete, guaranteed 4 pages +. hah.

  12. i think my browser took me to dumontracistduneriders.com instead of dumontduneriders.com.. why use the afro smiley? just say what you really feel like saying. it's the internet, remember? you can say whatever you want and hide conveniently behind the safety and comfort of your monitor. this is america, you have that right as an american.

for the record, i was appalled when i heard clinton repeatedly state "send money, we need your money. if you want to help don't send canned food, just send money.." before obama and bush got involved. and it continues.

  13. i met a guy the other day that made carbon fiber parts for the LTR450 and other applications. they were less expensive than i've seen on other sites but excellent quality.

i'm going to lend him my YFZ450R shrouds, sprocket cover, and he expressed interest in duplicating the black body part that runs along the sides of the tank and connect from the shroud to the rear plastic.

would anyone else be interested? he'll be able to price them out once he makes the mold. here is a link to the parts i put on my LTR450.. i couldn't do the shrouds because of my aftermarket plastic, but his LTR shrouds are nice too.

i have his card around somewhere, if you'd like to contact him about a specific application then let me know. real good people that ride dune and track.

  14. arms will probably have to be a custom build.

the irs already has pretty good travel, equivelent to alot of aftermarket LT kits. you can purchase shocks with better valving, and if you want a wider stance you can see if anyone manufactures spacers or have a machinest machine them for you. also, hiper makes a special rear wheel for the irs that clears the rear arms, and offers a 2" wider offset. you can view them on HSDRACING.com
