when taking the hub assembly off the axle i broke the break hub off. a buddy welded it great. but now the axle from beating on the one end is blown out, i tryed to cut of a little at at ime hoping the nut would thread on but no go so far. was wondering if you new of somewere to get an older axle or something to match the measurements in the pics. notice there is only grooves on 1 side and the diameter of the side with none is slightly larger. what did you use for ur 74 for the drive train. thanx

cole and i took our axle when we did the same thing to pep boys and asked one of the guys out in the shop if they could tap it. he had the tap and for 10 bucks was done...So try a motorcycle shop or a machine shop they can retap it for ya..

Hey John,

I could fix them threads.

I'd probably put it on the conventional lathe,

Set it up for that thread pitch and thread from the good threads out to the end.

This way there would be no cross threading.

Also like Dave and Chris said, You could take it to an auto repair shop or use a die / thread chaser.

A thread file may work too if you had it on a lathe.

Make sure if you have to hammer on the end of a threaded shaft that you thread a couple nuts on there first then use a softer material between the nut/shaft and the hammer.

Let us know what your approach is going to be.
