DDR Weather Page Got a Major Upgrade

Our weather page got a pretty nice overhaul!

The new page has quite a bit more information, including:

• 14-day forecast with daily highs, lows, wind speeds, gusts, and chances of rain

• Detailed hourly forecast for all 14 days, including wind direction

• 48-hour wind and gust chart so you can see when the wind is expected to pick up

• Current weather conditions for Dumont

• Sunrise, sunset, and daylight hours

• Windy day indicators for days with stronger gusts

• Weather Channel forecast for nearby Tecopa, CA

• Additional weather and road condition links

 

The cool part is that the page uses Open-Meteo weather data based on the actual GPS coordinates of Dumont Dunes, rather than relying on forecasts for Baker, Tecopa, or Las Vegas. These are computer-generated weather predictions specifically for the dunes, not live readings from weather stations in neighboring towns. So while they're still forecasts and not guaranteed conditions, they should give us a better idea of what to expect at Dumont instead of having to guess based on nearby towns. We'll have to test it out this season!
