Well my endless dune season has come to a pause and dumont season has almost started. it has been a awesome year added 2 new dunes to my list (sand mountain nv and st anthonys idaho) and visited a couple of annual summer dunes. duned dumont until april. then in may i made the trip up to sand mountain nv for spring break. my norcal and oregon people lead some awesome rides thru the tall dunes. the dune isn't big but is tall and has some really nice lines. there was a decent amount of people camped there but i didn't find the dunes crowded. also spent a day running the gravel roads around the dunes fun fast well maintained roads (its all military and mining in the area) pui a hundred miles on that ride with fuel and lunch at middle gate. next trip was up to coral pink Utah for forth of july. crowds have been low for the last few years you used to have to send someone up early to save spots. but this trip we pulled into a empty meadow and it never got close to full over the weekend. i always love the sky up there watching clouds and storms flow up the valley with the pink sand as a backdrop. it is a nice break from the vegas heat and the dunes are different but very fun to ride. end of july it was up to oregon Dunefest and a 3 week road trip on the oregon coast and highway 101. started with fleeing a vegas heat wave and heading up to Newport oregon for 3 days of sightseeing and cool weather. i have always thought of newport as the perfect beach town with a little of everything nice port and harbor with a old town touristy area mixed with working fish processing plants. you can go on a fishing charter or just a whale watching cruz. Ivers seafood restaurants are a must. and always end up with a bag of salt water taffy. from there it was time to head north and get on the sand at winchester bay for a week of dunefest. again with the norcal/oregon crew. we had a big camp and the rides were fast and long. there are many dunefest events with racing and dealer demos (polaris arctic cat and canam led rides try the dunes and try all the new machines) concerts and vender row it is a busy week and goes by too fast. from there i worked my way down the coast with a couple days in brookings oregon to clean up and charge up form the week of boon docking. it is a nice quiet coastal town i stayed at a rv park between the ocean and the marina very peaceful and great sleeping with it being cool and listening to the waves crash. i road tripped down the highway 101 from there to santa cruz and stayed 3 days there sightseeing Monterey bay enjoying the beach and the beautiful people. might have to spend some more time there next year. last trip of the summer was up to St. Anthonys Idaho (idaho dunes rv park) for the UTV invasion at the end of august. first trip up there for me. mike and adam from GTP products Dale with Htown and Russ of tribal whips made the trip with me. our first trip into the dunes i was seeing the lines and lead a fast flowing ride all the way back to devils bowl (even if we didn't know thats where we were). the dunes are fun and offer many lines. i got in a half dozen good runs including the organized run with ill guess over 30 UTVs. learned to fuel every time back because a full speed run to the end and back took almost a full tank. i made reservations for next year in anticipation that this will be a annual event. think we will know after the dust clears from this first time event. participated in the teeter-totter balance contest the show and shine some of the poker run (cut short by being the first on scene to a bad fire that burned a guy and his polaris burned to the ground. he was life flighted out) and also did the group ride and a photo shoot with neal rideout. i also did a lot of socializing being that i knew a ton of people and met a bunch more. like dunefest it went fast and i didn't get to spend time with everyone i wanted to but there is aways the next trip. monday after the invasion a group of us (the utv hangover crew) headed north to island park idaho for a couple days trail (and highway) riding around the continental divided. stayed at the red rocks rv park in the lake henry valley. first day did a ride up to the FAA puntang station at about 10000 feet you can see 3 states idaho montana and wyoming. it was windy and cold but the view was well worth it. the next day we took a couple trips one to wade lake and another to west yellowstone. where we cruzed the streets in our rzrs. trying to take a different way back proved tough with only a snowmobile map and out phone gps. ran into a couple 50" gates and a couple of unmaintained snowmobile trails as it got dark. couple of the guys with us had had enough so we decided to risk a ticket and jump on highway 20 and do 70mph down to a point we knew how to get back. i was smiling the whole way guess that s the rebel coming out. made it back safe and sound on tickets. loaded up that night and headed out early for the 750 mile drive back to vegas. love the 75/80 mph speed limits all the way home. california seems so stupid with the 55 towing speeds after that run try 3 states guess 4 if you count arizona thru the vigil river gorge. i run very smooth at 75 and you can knock the miles down. next up will be dumont for halloween and i guess i have a new crop of campfire stories. and a few new friends to hook up with this winter season.

Most vendors hand out candy. At Beefy Boys one of our crew members always dresses up and sits out front to hand out candy to trick or treaters. The kids love it! Halloween is really fun at Dumont!!!

Alot of duners decorate their camps. Some even build haunted houses. Trick or treating usually happens just after dark on Saturday, but I would guess it's on Friday this year since that is Halloween. Vendor row sometimes hands out candy to kids too. Comp hill is always fun at night. Lots of costumes and shenanigans going off. It's a really fun weekend. Yiah, that thing sounds awesome Been back to camp on 3 wheels several times myself, with my first car that is. Looks like a hovercraft, or maybe the back to the future flying delorean a bit
