Thanksgiving weekend is here, and that means the 56th Annual Dune Masters & Sandpipers events are happening at Dumont. These two clubs have been doing this for decades, keeping the old-school dune vibe alive with their classic water pumpers. The name water pumper comes from the early days of duning, when most cars out here were VW-based and air-cooled — so a V8 with an actual radiator and water pump really stood out.
Friday 11/28/25 – Drag Races (10 AM)
Drag races start Friday at 10:00 AM at the normal drags location/ sand highway backstretch between Comp and North Pole.
If that area doesn’t work out due to traffic or conditions, they’ll move it to the south backstretch.
Saturday 11/29/25 – Hill Climbs (10 AM)
Hill climbs are Saturday at 10:00 AM on the left (steep) side of Comp Hill.
This one is a slow drags–style hill climb — last one to the top without burying it wins. Always a fun one to watch.
Come Check It Out
Even though only club members race, everyone at Dumont is welcome to swing by, hang out, and enjoy a piece of dune history that’s still going strong after all these years.
Have a safe and fun Thanksgiving weekend at the dunes!
