  1. Nice opinion, here's mine; I don't smoke but used to. I like to gamble but quit because someone allways sets next to me with their cig setting in the ash tray burnning the cotton of the old butt with the smoke going straigt for my eyes i think that if they banned smok'n in any public building it would be great, If there is so many smokers how come you can allways get a table in the smok,n section but have to wait 30 min. for no-smok'n I had to meet a guy for lunch in a pub, was there for about 30 min, half way thru eating at the bar this guy sets next to me and lights up, pulls out his cell phone and starts talk'n, leaves the cig setting in the ash try and the smoke is killing me. finally I said " excuse me, could you put that out?" he got all pissed and tells me that he was in a smok'n section and about his rights well, 6 hours later after being only in the bar for 30 min. I get home, the first thing my wife said to me when she gave me a hug was " you been to the titty bar all day you smell like smoke" when I told her what happened she said, "Take a shower and change clothes before you stink up the house" so I guess i'm one that would go gamble at the bar if it weren't all the smokers!!! :smoker:
  2. Here,s how laws come about, the people doing things don't make the laws. It's the people that watch you do things, haven't you ever heard or said " look at those idiots, there needs to be a law against that"
  3. I've got an idea, get a banner made that fits in the steak bed of your truck that says " VOLUNTEER TRASH PICK-UP" " PLEASE HELP"
  4. THEY ARE OUT OF BUSINESS, DIRT ADICTIONS ON BOULDER HWY BOUGHT THEIR INVINTORY

  6. I posted what i did to show the evolution of sand duners, back then we did the best we could with what we had to work with and thats the way it was, now is the way it IS and it'll never go back to the way it WAS! so lets do the same, lets do the best we can with what we have to work with, sure there is grow'n pains as more and more people come out, but hey lets make the best of it and lets have fun doing it!!! one more thing, lets say you have a four year old, and you decide to let him do laps around the camp, doesn't take long before they're pinning the throttle, man look at him go!!! he can allmost do a wheelie and watch him throw his weight in the turns, damm he's good!!! at what age do you wave the magic wand and tell him he can't go fast around the camp???
  7. Here is how it used to be, you judged your speed in the flats by the crowd. you would look at your rear tires and if your paddles were throwing dirt you slowed down, if you were driving and leaving a dust trail and the wind was blowing it towards someones camp you would slow down. used to be hardly anyone had paddles, we would take tires that were bald and put them on front and cut groves in the tires for the rear, everyone used to b*tch if you had paddles cause they roosed dirt to much. any way you would putt threw the dirt {where everyone camps] and as soon as you would hit the fingers you would haul a$$ cause hauling a$$ in the sand doesn't make dust. back then you avoided the dirt area for two reasons, one, it was full of nails from burn'n paletts, and two, it would loosen up the dirt and make it easyer to get stuck. when you would haul a$$ on the fingers heading out to the dune everyone was cool with it I fact that where they wanted you to do it, people with young kids used to camp down in the canyon and let their kids ride their little fiftys on the hard dirt, I my self have a sand rail, doing it the same as I all ways have, i putted thru the dirt and got on the sand {the fingers] and haaul a$$. took all of about 2seconds ot figure out that that wasn't going to work. I figured WTF are these people doing? they are camped right on the dunes!!! but hey, they were all there and a pretty good chance they were staying. so I said OK, they were here first I'll just go a different waycoming back, which I did. now everyone parked their campers on the way out of the dunes right in the middle of the road, you had to go thru this maze of caution tape to get to your camp. when I finally made it to venders row. WTF i'm going as to not throw dirt on the venders and get roosted by quads passing me. I have yet to hear any one say look at that guy doing wheelies right by my trailer, isn't he cool anyway I think the finger deal has changed, it's kinda like the lake. you find this bad a$$ long finger cove that you want to fish in and as you pull in you see ski boats going back and forth, you don't drop ancor right in the middle and think you are in the right [even though you have the right} same as if you want to ski in there and there is guys fishing there all ready, they can't make you not ski there but because they were there first the law says you must stay a certian distance away I think the finger deal {all though I don't agree] has become a wake less area if you will, and being there are children there, they will grow up saying this is how its done. being an older father my hats off to all you younger dads that are spending time with your familys, and if the fingers are now a childerens play area, I say let'um play, put up your cones to keep the young ones in, but get rid of the rebar>
  8. oh gees, first rhino now you you want the hose is this mean the name will be changed to the dumont rain bow riders

  11. OK, OK OK, Now that everybody got to vent a little, or a lot lets get back to the real deal here, my hats off to everyone that showed up for this huge event!!! do you realize what was done here, regardless of race, religion,or policital preference, Everyone showed up in tents, trailers, campers, motorhomes, blankets, sandrails, quads, 2 wheelers, 3wheelers, rhinos [they're all rhinos to me] and basically got along, and had a hell of a good time doing so only in the good ol USA, so wake up americans, get out your calendars , tell your boss, your be miss'n a couple of days for thanks giv'n, AND HELL YA!!! LETS DO IT AGAIN :fro:
  12. Did you get the blonde-star installed in your extreme yet?
  13. come on now, tell 'em how you ran around like a wooden leg'ed indian look'n for the #2 bathroom
  14. and one more thing before i fall asleep in my chair, how many of you remember when the only thing out in the dunes was dune buggys and jeeps? and if someone was out in the dunes you'd kinda follow the leader as to not to have a head on collision, and yes youngsters the rails were here first! then the three wheelers and then the quads. back then anyone with sand toys was family, imagine
  15. you are kidding right? you know the reaction time of a four year old? four year olds should never be allow to ride alone and should only ride in an open area followed by, or following an adult. what happens when some one pull out between the trailers, BAM, four year olds have tunnel vison, now take away 50percent of their vison {the trailer side} add the fact that they will brain freeze and panic if something jumps out in front of them if you want your kids to ride, park far away, the farther the better go out and make a little track for them to ride, and if all your going to do is hold down a chair, put your chair where you can see and hear them.
  16. OK,OK,OK, what the h'll makes people want to park at the bottom of the dunes? or worse yet on the blind side of a finger dune? or even worse yet turn your kids loose to play/ride on the blind side of the dunes, I'm an old school'r here and the rule of the dunes was if you can't see in any direction for 100 ft keep mov,n I have raised little duners for 33 years and now have 5 grand kids. when the kids wanted to ride we would take them out on the out skirts of the dunes on a trail ride. and as they got better we would venture in to the small dunes, kinda like a momma duck. once they could ride good we would go tear up the dunes. I was at dumbmont and could not believe what has evolved from our respectfull, kind, helpfull sport of dunning, I think it will be outlawed soon. I have never seen so many people that want to be stacked up as close as they can and yet want to take squaters wrights to a couple of acers of land and then b*tch if some one has to get near them to ride in the sand! people, you don't go to the top of the dunes and park 4' down the other side and expect to live long! i seen this every where out there. if you want to park on the dunes, park on the peak!!! or use the 100' rule. if it's so crowded that you have to put up cones, park farther away. and check this out, I seen a guy riding a quad thru the camp area on the back wheels, WOW, I was impressed! we used to ride slow thru the camp area as to not make a dust bowl out of the area, If you want to run fast, go to comp hill I also noticed that there is friction between the sand cars and the quads, they head straight for you and act as thou the are playing chicken with you and refuse to yeild to the right, good way to end up on the grill also the old Time duners would wave or nod as they passed, now they try to roost you, and then brag about it "hey, did you see me roost that guy" the world went to sh!t when they quit use'n the belt, used to be smart a$$'s had the fat lips and the sore a$$'S and they would learn from that anyway all you youngsters keep it up and you will take the privlage of dune riding away from the next generation, keep throw'n your trash everywhere. roosting everybody, runn'n wild and reckless with no respect for no one or there property and see what happens! and just so all of you know, they are going to shut down dumont camp area because of the air quality, kinda like no swimming because the water is poluted. they are trying to keep it open by watering the high trafic areas but the a- holes keep roosting the dirt instead of the sand. look for dumont to be closed on big weekends soon
