  1. No mind altering substances while riding for me. I save it up until the end of the day when I'm done riding. People seem to get dead easy enough as it is without adding booze/smoke into the mix.
  2. Hey sanddunesaddict, Have someone take video of you doing this, or it didn't happen. Your anecdotes aren't good enough. "I smoked two flying saucers on my Craptor out at Area 51, with tiny little aliens flying them. I Pwn all."
  3. I know that wasn't directed at me, but I would say that getting your motor bored / stroked is the exception not the rule. Most people probably leave their machines completely stock, so mentioning that you have exhaust/jet/intake is at least saying something. Those mods alone can add 5HP or so, which is a nice kick in the shorts on most quads. I'm outta here..heading to the dunes!! Laters all.
  4. He didn't get the 15T yet. We will have them for the next trip. Right about now he's getting his hauler ready for the drive out to Dumont. I'm heading up there in a few mins. loooong drive for me. Have a good weekend!
  5. lol. I didn't actually think this would escalate this far. I thought the miscommunication was resolved like 6 posts ago!
  6. Nothing special is in the eye of the beholder. Nothing special compared to what??
  7. yeah I know what you mean. I get a laugh out of all the Honda (car) drivers with stickers and ugly a$$ body kits. hahaha It's all good. Simple forum miscommunication.
  8. Well, no one around here thinks that jetting is a big deal, just a little part of a bigger picture. Sorry if it sounded like we were talking down to you, but based on your post, you seemed confused, and I don't know your background, being new around here. I'm curious though how you think jetting (or correcting parasitic horsepower loss) does not constitute a gain in horsepower. I guess it's all in the point of view. I consider the stock performance to be the base to measure from. I don't go by the engine's potential. You may be correcting a design flaw (or emissions bs) that is robbing power, but if the horse power goes up, it's a gain.
  9. I don't think jetting, or the other bolt on mods are a huge deal individually, but I have worked on cars as a hobby for about 20 years now. Every little thing you do makes a difference. Just like how all the little power gains you make add up when you balance a motor, knife your rods, shave the flywheel, etc (parasitic horsepower loss). Individually, they don't look like much on paper, but all together you make a big difference. Even 5hp on one of these little motors is very noticeable. So do other little things like lighter wheels, better paddles, etc. It's all part of building it up. Later when my motor is ready for a rebuild, I will look at more agressive mods. If it's are worth it and reliable, I may do something like a 560 kit. We'll see. No one here said "OMFG I'm so jetted... I'm going to Pwn everyone on the the dunes!". Anyone who is into performance vehicles will tell you that every little thing makes a difference. Race cars take every single detail into account. Hell, in Pro Drag racing, they make changes to the motors based on the relative humidity and other atmospheric conditions for the track they are at to get every last drop out of their cars. People will roll there cars up to the line with bags of ice on their intakes to make sure they get a little colder air into the motor for the run. Here's one for you. My last car, an Audi S4 (Biturbo V6) was so undertuned stock, that I got another 50hp from my motor JUST doing the chip. Ask guys what a chip will do on a Turbo Diesel truck.
  10. I've seen a 560 Predator out at the dunes and it was very quick. Take off those asian bike goggles you have on, and you will see things more clearly. The stock 500 isn't slow like every Yamaha owner wants to pretend it is (not saying you ride a Yam, cause I have no idea), and that 560 is built like mad. There is no way it is slow. As a Predator owner, I'll be the first one to tell you that the *stock* Predator 500 isn't in the same class as the YFZ for racing. The YFZ is a track machine though. It came with ZERO factory mods, and cost nearly another $1000 more out the door. It has a bad a$$ engine for certain. As you know, Predators (up until this year) came with a bunch of upgrades, including Fox suspension and pro steering (which kicks arse) . My Limited Edition also came with the Troy Lee Edition close ratio gear box, white bros exhaust, douglas yellow label wheels, Maxxis Razr 2 tires, upgraded bumper and grab bar, etc. My LE still cost me probably $700 less out the door than a YFZ. Now I'm doing the rejet, intake, rev box, sprocket etc - still haven't caught up to the cost of a YFZ and have a much better equipped machine. You won't see me bash on the YFZ (or the other 450s) except in fun, because none of them are crappy quads. My uncle has a couple YFZ's and I enjoy messing around on them. His stock suspension SUCKS compared to mine though. Yes, the predator is heavier, but I'll take the weight with the other features, and reverse which makes mountain trail riding / exploring a dream. I feel the same way about the suspension and steering. VegasPredator and I have taken our quads over trails full of bowling ball size volcanic rocks up in Munds Park, AZ and they went over it very smoothly. The pro steering really shines on terrain like that. If all I wanted was a sand toy, I *might* have purchased a different quad. I did lots of research before buying this, like I do all my vehicles. The engine is rock solid, taken from their snowmobiles, and there are tons of mods for it. It will be interesting to see where the KTM partnership goes. All the big ATV magazines say great things about the predator, including calling it the best "all around" quad. That's exactly what I wanted. As for good ole fashion sh!te talk, hell I'm down with that too Someone mentioned thinking Polaris was a Canadian company. No, that's Can-Am / Bombardier which I believe is in Quebec. Polaris Industries Inc. is headquartered in Medina, Minnesota.
  11. It's pretty much for racing, I believe. Not sure about reliability. I did talk to a guy at Dumont who has a 560 kit (I think he said) and it's sick powerful. He says it's every bit as reliable as stock. There are a few companies out there offering the 560 stuff. http://www.atv.info/articlePrint.cfm?id=46 The one on that link is extreme in every way. The guy I met at Dumont had a more stock looking Predator if I remember correctly, running the 560.
  12. Bound4, Check this out: http://www.faliconcranks.com/polatv.htm sickness.
  13. VegasPredator is out skipping work looking for those Sprockets in town lol. One for him and one for me. I think he's going to try to get them overnighted from Magic though. Haven't seen him online since he bailed at lunch time.
  14. I'm new around here, but would I be right at guessing Chase pisses people off regularly around here, or are we all just having good clean smack talk? He hasn't bothered me yet, but seems like some of you are irritated with him. lol
  15. Are you going to do the 15T for this weekend? I'm really interested in how that works out.
  16. I'll be out there with VegasPredator staying in his hauler this weekend. Can't wait to ride. I will get there Friday night since I have a long a$$ drive. See you at Comp. Watch for the lifted Silver jeep pictured below (or my black Predator).
  17. Oh yeah bro, can't wait to get off work and head up there this weekend. It's gonna kick a$$. Shiii... I need to install my new track bar on the jeep too.
  18. Old thread, but I figured I would add my $.02 for future readers. I have the Pro Comp X Terrains, and I love them. The compound is soft though, which is great on a light vehicle like my Wrangler, but will mean faster wear on a heavier truck. I don't get much rain where I live, so I can't speak directly to street/rain traction. They are great on the dry road, and don't really have much slap, so the noise level is decently low. Off road they are fantastic.
  19. Woah Woah.... Predator Bashing?? I see how it is. I've got your back, Bound4Dirt. To everyone else....Buy American (I know, that's harsh. )
  20. Someone asked about the IRS on the Outlaw. I haven't ridden one yet, but a couple guys at my local shop have said the IRS does great in the corners. My first thought when I saw it was if it would be too soft in corners, and I was told it's not. I messed around with it there on the showroom floor and it felt at least as stiff as my '06 LE does if not stiffer. I'm considering buying one for my second quad, but I want to ride one before I decide. Polaris is using the Outlaw 525 for all it's racing now, and they have downgraded the factory mods on all the other models, including the Outlaw 500 and the LE models. The 2007 LE is a HUGE downgrade from the 2006 LE I bought. All the great mods that made my '06 a smokin' deal are pretty much gone now including the Douglas Yellow Label wheels, White Bros exhaust, upgraded bumpers, etc. The 2006 standard Predator has nothing on it anymore, not even the Fox suspension. VegasPredator and I think it looks like they are going to push the Outlaw 525 as their flagship, and leave the rest of the line as "entry level". They are also billing the 525 "the fastest accelerating sport quad", although I don't see any numbers on their site. Some of the reviews I read agree. There is a video for the 525 on their website and they show a bunch of angles of the rider getting on it hard. The suspension looks great.
  21. Here is a little inspiration for your Blaster: Project Blaster http://www.factory7atv.com/PBhome.htm
  22. lol nice video. That crappy rap song made me throw up in my mouth though.
  23. Gotta respect all that work and money. I think all H2's should be 'trailer queened' up since they suck off road anyway
  24. That really is a sick picture, and a sweet car.
  25. I'm glad I joined DDR if for no other reason than all the great safety info that is shared here. I'm new to the dunes, having switched from being a water person (boats, watercraft) to living in the desert. It sucks hearing about people getting hurt, but it's great that we can all learn from it. I have a quad, but I also have a lifted jeep that I mess around the low dunes with. Didn't think about wearing a helmet in it, but it's a good idea even though I'm only crawling around. I also liked the flashlight idea for night rides on the quad. Would be easy to carry around a mini-mag or something.
